I was watching Judge Judy and I will never forget how upset she was at the mom and then kept saying “dads are not second class citizens.” My ex went after me stating her lawyer said she was owed 17% of my income. I still have no idea how they came up with 17%. Without court orders I was giving her $300 a month because that was what I could afford. For context this was in 1988 in Kentucky and $300 was worth a lot more than now. She would not stop bringing up that damn 17%. She finally took me to court to get her 17% officially put into a court docs as proof what she was entitled too. This as a year after splitting up, and I was never late paying on time. I also paid for our daughters health insurance, I was the one who bought her clothes, school supplies, and a bunch of other miscellaneous expenses. The judge asked my ex wife if she was certain she wanted 17%, and with a smug look on my ex’s face for just a few seconds turned into absolute shock. The judge factored in my income and the health insurance I paid, my payment dropped to $180 dollars. I still covered my daughters needs and even restocked their refrigerator many times to make sure my daughter would never go hungry. Still, I have to admit my ex was right and she got that 17% she was entitled to.

Hi Guys, This is not a new problem and the family court has been stacked against father's since the early 1970's. No family court lawyer or judge can explain the following situation:- The wife died of cancer or killed in a car crash and the husband/father gets custody of the children, but if the marriage fails and ends in divorce the father is automatically deemed not capable of raising and looking after his children. I get that child’s are expensive but why do you need 100,000 dollars. I doubt that even 50% of the money goes to pay for her child support. The thing that irritates me the most is that she doesn’t work, doesn’t have a home for herself and doesn’t have an income of any sort and still expects him to pay for something that she needs to pay for. I got picked up for failure to pay support in Tx, Had JUST gotten into an appartment after being homeless from the LAST time they picked me up and tossed me in jail over the same debt. Judge asked me why i didnt pay child support if i had gotten a job, i told Him that i wanted a roof over My head and food in MY belly so that i could work earn the $$ to pay it (have YOU ever tried getting a job while homeless? I have its fucking hard), His response was to ask me what comes first, paying Support or a roof over my head and food in my belly. I responded that a roof and food comes first due to them being REQUIRED to work. He informed me in court ON RECORD that NO, support comes BEFORE my survival. 30 minutes later a female who ALSO owes shit tons of support went in front of him for non payment. When asked it was because her new husband would not pay it, and she was a stay at home wife for him.... SAME JUDGE told her that she should really try to get HIM to pay and then lowered her payments from $50 a month to $25 a month...for 3 kids.... oh and she is 10k MORE in debt than me. Even better news? The mom now wants to sue me to "Establish Paternity"...... Like WTF??? You already sending my ass to PRISON....now you want to know for sure if its even my kid?????? And the courts give not a single fuck, they JUST want the $$$ they declare i owe them.
