You need to be able to make eye contact with other drivers at times when things aren't certain, like when you stop at a 4-way stop at the same time. It's not safe to not be able to see the other driver. Also I'd recommend not eating in your car for obvious safety reasons as well as keeping your car clean.

If you are just worried about people not easily seeing you when you eat in your car you could always buy some window shades and put them up while you eat. TInting varies a lot from state to state, and if you drive between states you may get pulled over in the other state and have to show you are from a state that allows darker tint. It can be a hassle. If you want them tinted anyway, then yeah, you need to check local and state laws.

I really need to do research on the tint levels and see what’s most commonly legal in most states, I also just hate having a fishbowl car 😭

Something I did was 15% in the front and 5% rest and when I was in lunch at work or wanted some privacy I put a sunshade up and it darkens the car a lot more in the front. I don’t recommend anything darker or it’s a matter of time before you get pulled over
@griffin_liv8 ай бұрын
That’s what people have been saying, might be what I go for but I’m one of those that want all the tint the same darkness

@@griffin_liv when are you going to tint your car? And what will you end up getting ?
@whois35818 ай бұрын
@@griffin_liv No, don't go that dark. 15% is really dark and 5% is even darker. If a cop is going to mess with you, they will for being that dark. Do 35 or maybe as dark as 20 all around. Will give privacy and enough tint without being too dark at night. Guarantee you that you would not like 5% at night.

There probably are not as many people looking at you as you think driving is a pretty involved activity and people have to be aware of whats around them! The limit in most places is 6" across the windshield most of them even have a mark on them for the tint line but a dollar bill long ways is a safe measure. Secondly every state has different laws on how dark the tint can be and some even specify color but 30% +- 3% is usually the law you can get away with 27% but alot of states the law says that the back window and FRONT door windows cant be below 30% and the BACK DOOR WINDOWS CAN BE DOWN TO 5% The percentage rating on the tint is how much light is allowed to pass threw the tint and the rest is reflected back , this is what the alabama tint law and several other states in the southeast at least are but BE SAFE ANYTHING BELOW 30% makes it hard see at night and makes backing up dangerous in the dark,
@griffin_liv8 ай бұрын
Yeah my sister has to roll her windows down when she’s driving at night to see, and I’m just mainly looking for privacy so I don’t think I’ll be needing anything too dark, thanks for your comment

Just get 35% tint. That's completely legal anywhere and it's fine for a bit of tint but not too dark for night. You also don't need "high performance" breaks. Just get a good brake job from a good mechanic (not mineke or midas or any of those), with some good quality ceramic brake pads and you'll be fine. And also, like, start like, paying attention to like, how many times you like, use the word like. Poking fun, I know you're young, but like....maybe start trying to like, realize it and stuff. ;-)

My windows came tinted and it's dark enough. Anything is better than nothing. State laws vary and also probably local city ordinances too if you travel through major metro. I have license plate covers with a slight tint and they're legal in my state but not in most others. I don't remove them if I travel but it's an easy screwdriver fix. I only ever get stopped for speeding 😅
@griffin_liv8 ай бұрын
Well, I only ever got pulled over for having a light out lol. And I wish my everyday driver already had tinted windows, it’s expensive 😭
@jayzillawashere8 ай бұрын
@@griffin_liv I didn't even think about it when I got the car but it's pretty major on a daily basis. Just blocking the sun off your arm can save you from cancer 😅 besides that I camp in my car sometimes and even though I use window screens, it makes it a lot less obvious that there are window screens unless you get very close. Makes me wonder if my tint is factory or otherwise. Factory tint is pretty weak and almost just cosmetic. I might start considering aftermarket clear tints to block UV/heat
@michaelstaschke90228 ай бұрын
it varies state to state, but generally the back windows can be tinted as dark as you want, but you would have to look up the legal limit for the front in your state. as for the brakes, by law automakers are supposed to put way stronger brakes than your car should ever need, Unless you plan to drive it on a race track. you could ask your mechanic to check your brakes if you're worried.
@griffin_liv8 ай бұрын
I’m not worried about my breaks, it’s just the way I drive my car I should have higher performance breaks so I don’t damage the car. And tint laws are just crazy.. like it all just needs to be the same everywhere
@Fr.Damian8 ай бұрын
Id just call the people you plan on having tint your windows and run this by them. Theyd be able to suggest a good tint to you based off of your state. I live in illinois but was going to school in Tennessee so i asked them to look up the laws for both states and see what they thought. They ended up going with 15% i think. But talk to them and they would know and would be able to help. Be prepared to spend maybe $300. Thats what it costed me
@griffin_liv8 ай бұрын
Yeah they gave me the standard cost and said it was the price or any level of darkness for tint, and that’s smart to talk to the people about state regulations that would be installing it, thank you
