Louis, in regards to your lightheadedness- I have a condition called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome which causes my blood pressure to drop & my heart rate to increase upon standing, causing me to feel lightheaded or faint pretty much every time I stand up. POTS is a form of dysautonomia, which means my autonomic nervous system doesn't work properly. If your symptoms continue I would seek advice from your GP, especially since you'll be in the UK the next few weeks. Lightheadedness can also be from dehydration or low sodium levels, you may be dehydrated & not even notice. Increase your water intake, decrease drinking things that dehydrate you (coffee & tea, sorry but it sucks all the water right out of you). Hope you feel better soon.

usually feeling dizzy is either low blood pressure. anxiety (from over stress), ear infection, blood sugar issues, reaction to anxiety medication or sleep deprivation. take your pick!

I'm a Nurse Practitioner and I believe you are experiencing what is termed as... Orthostatic Hypotension. You should have some blood work done. If you are hydrated, then it could possibly be Anemia. Low Iron in the blood. Being a vegetarian, you have to be wary of that. Cheers.

+J Ellio Louis! Take B12 supplements (increase blood cell production by breaking down fats and carbs easier). I am veg as well, and it helped me keep my energy up. That's the only vitamin that is missing/can't get from vegetables. Don't let anyone tell you veg(an)etarianism is a bad choice!

Wow--what amazing spoken word from Karl! From the words that I heard, it sounded like he spoke from experience with a different form of testimonial within a poem which is beyond beautiful. As a believer & follower of Jesus, I even would go as far as to say that he metaphorically referenced the price that Christ paid for us through his own personal transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly once he found Jesus. Such powerful words, Karl. My favorite line from him: "I am made in the image of love."

They are re-building the chimneys back up at Battersea, the old ones needed replacing. It's really the building itself thats listed, not the chimneys, which is why they can't totally knock it down like they wanted to. They are making it into a kind of 'neighbourhood', both the power station itself and area around, making it housing and shops etc lol but yes it is so weird going passed it and not seeing them chimneys anymore haha!

Dizziness can be caused by ANEMIA/LOW BLOOD PRESSURE/DE-HYDRATION. One of those three, OR too much coffee and not enough protein or food. You should really think about upping your protein Louis and start juicing heavy dark leafy greens to replace with coffee. Because of your incessant traveling, coffee drinking, low hydration and not enough food, this is probably the culprit. You must get your blood checked and find out what's going on. :) Sending our love and gratitude to you ALWAYS!

Louis, Just watched. The problem is most likely Hypoglycemia / Low Blood Sugar. Symptoms: Dizziness, tiredness, shakiness, nervousness, irritability, mood swings, mental fog, hard to concentrate, hard to think, hard to remember. Solution: Eat like 6 smaller meals a day spread out in equal intervals like every 2 hours over time to keep blood sugar level balanced to avoid extreme highs and lows. When the blood sugar (glucose) levels in the brain go down, that's when you get the dizziness when you stand up quickly. Glucose is the brain's fuel. You mentioned you only ate a banana that day which is fruit, natural sugar and carbs. Need to include complex carbs and proteins or at least eat more bananas more often. Just like the car needs petrol fuel, the body needs food fuel. I suffered from very bad low blood sugar for years, so this info comes from lots of reading, research, doctor visits, personal experience and thousands of dollars spent to find the solution. Got to eat the right stuff, more and more often. Can't skip meals. And, coffee / caffeine will make it worse if you don't eat properly. Caffeine stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin which causes blood sugar to drop even more which worsens the situation. This eventually causes a roller coaster effect on blood sugar levels which in turn causes mood swings and emotional ups and downs. And, also your staying up all night and lack of sleep will make it worse. Can't cheat on sleep. The mind and body must have rest. Don't sacrifice your health. It will catch up with you. Hope this helps. JR

It could be a couple different things with the dizziness... Could be your blood pressure dropping when you go from lying/sitting to standing, inner ear problems, low blood sugar, etc... Try getting up more slowly and see if the dizziness isn't as bad. I'm not a doctor, but I am 27 years old and work as a nurse in a clinic in Mississippi. Hope some of this helps! ❤️

When you become a vegan your calorie intake changes. You need to double to triple the amount of food you eat depending on how much you exercise. Please *EAT MORE*. Have a huge breakfast, have a large lunch, and have a gigantic dinner. Do not be afraid to eat and devour. Eat more rice, eat more pasta, eat more nuts. I used to eat 1,800 calories but since going vegetarian I now eat 3,200 calories a day. That's one of the biggest problems of non-meat eaters. They don't eat enough. You're on a plantbase food diet, that stuff goes right through you. So you need to make sure you're taking in a lot more food.

Rouinis I used to be so tired and then I did research. I realized that I was working out more than I was taking in. I took a huge giant food intake, and doubled my calories. I gained 28 pounds and then started losing again after 5 months of weight gain. So I went up and then back down and then down more. I have not been this light since I was in grade 8. So that could happen to you too.

Agreed! Plant foods/healthy foods are MUCH LOWER IN CALORIES so you have to eat more quantity. I weigh 125 lbs, and eat an average of 2000 calories a day and thats just being sedentary, if i was being more active, i would add a few hundred more calories. A guy the size of Louis, probably needs upward of around 3000 calories a day. And i've noticed he isn't eating much food at his meals, needa start smashing in the carbs Louis!!!

There are different factors that might contribute to your dizziness. If it's from dehydration, you might want to cut down on the coffee intake and increase your water intake. You also mentioned in previous videos that you have not been eating that much, so you might be deficient in some nutrients. Make sure you are eating enough calories and try to get more rest! I would also recommend getting yourself checked out by a doctor if your symptoms worsen. Hope you feel better! :)

Louis you need to eat more of the vegan whole foods, bigger portions of oats, rice, beans, plenty of potatoes and bananas. Check out 'that vegan couple' look at their portions, and their videos are so informative and their so nice too! Watching your vlogs, I get the impression you're not eating enough and skipping meals for instance, in this one you said ' I've just had a banana.. I need a coffee' or something along those lines, no wonder your lightheaded, try doubling your portion size. I find following some vegan youtubers really helps especially if they do informative videos on food and what I ate in a day videos, it really give you a good idea on how much and what to eat on a vegan diet to feel the best you can :)

+Lucymjc +FunForLouis I was going to say the same thing. Also great suggestions to view others what I ate in a day videos. You see that they eat a lot. He probably is not getting enough calories. One can eat a giant burger and fries and fill full for hours. Just my opinion that he may be busy and skipping meals and surviving on caffeine. Which for me is an appetite suppressant so I have to be careful as well or I to realize all I had all day was a banana.

I experience the same faint feeling you described once in a while too, don't doubt yourself either I have genuinely fainted (even as late as up to a minute after standing) and dropped a full tray of freshly brewed tea all down my front. I went to the doctors and, seeing as I'm a 6ft1 skinny 17 year old, they determined that my blood pressure was normal but it was probably an adverse affect of my growth spurts. That being said, if you'd imagine how relaxed you become when you lie down, along with the fact that your heart has to work less to get your blood circulated, once you stand up (considering you're also over 6ft) your heart has to now provide a lot more pressure and work a lot harder to pump blood all the way up to your brain. If you have good cardio your heart probably catches up pretty quick, however there will be a period where your brain receives less blood than it was a few seconds ago hence the faint feeling. It's most likely nothing to worry about, just a side effect of being too tall! However anemia is another possibility which is prevalent in vegetarians so definitely go get a checkup, won't take long.

Get cronometer! You put in what you've eaten that day and it helps you track your nutrients and calories. That way you'll know what vitamins and nutrients you might be lacking in or not eating enough of. Sounds to me like you need to eat more dark leafy greens and iron rich fruit/veg.

There are so many possible reasons why you could be feeling faint when standing up. Try getting up slowly , when you sit up start to flex your legs to get blood moving upward . I have Dysautonomia and that's a tip I was given . Also put more salt and water in your diet - especially water . However other things like fatigue , stress , and more can cause it . If it keeps up see a healthcare professional

Hey, Louis, about your dizziness, I think you should see an otolaryngologist or ENT doctor. My previous GF had similar condition which occurred when she was under very stressful condition and also harsh schedules. In her case, it was something to do with her cochlea in ears. Doctors prescribe medicine for those conditions and most importantly suggest some chilling out. Hope you have it checked out and get better. Always thanks for inspirations. Best of luck! Hey Louis, on the subject of dizziness when standing. If you are type "o" blood group you need to stay off wheat. So give the bread a miss for a fortnight, see if that changes things (it's called insulin resistance/syndrome X) at any rate it's metabolic and easily sorted with tweaking your diet

I am 199cm tall (6'7')', and I have had the same issue of getting up and feeling dizzy, to the point of fainting. Look at the foods you are eating, and try to figure out what nutrients you are lacking.

Hey Louis, If you are feeling faint/dizzy your blood sugar is probably too low, and this means you are not eating enough! You are a tall guy and you need to eat lots of calories. Plant foods have a low calorie density, so you need to eat more volume of whole foods like rice, oats, whole grains, potatoes, beans, fruit, etc. Vegetables only have 100 calories per pound, fruit has about 200 calories per pound, Therefore, load up on whole food carbs! A single banana for breakfast is not going to do it for you. Love how you are making the vegan diet work on the go! Keep some whole grain bread with you while you are running around (good source of quick carbs in a pinch). LOVE LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! London is such a beautiful city. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Feeling faint when you stand up is called orthostatic hypotension. When you stand up your heart goes from pumping not so hard (not having to work as hard against gravity) to having to pump harder/faster to compensate for working against gravity. While its adjusting how hard it's pumping you don't get enough oxygen to your head for a second which leads to feeling faint or light headed!

Well after being diagnosed with I.C. my Urologist said no more salt. The vitamin D3 has helped me a great deal. But this is how my body reacts. It could be minor or it could be major. God bless you. * You have given up a major source of natural vitamin D while giving up dairy.

hey Louis ! I'm vegan as well and this is my advice just from my experience , I'm not an expert , I'm am busy studying a degree in dietitics though , so anyway here goes. healthy vegan food is naturally lower in calories than food that contains meat , so you have to make sure that you are eating enough calories for a man of your size to be maintaining (or gaining mass as you said you wanted to in your last vlog) , just download cronometer and type in what you eat to get an idea , it will only take you about a day or 2 to realise just how much you have to eat to actually be eating enough . another thing is if you want to up calories easier without eating larger quantities , you should increase your (healthy) fat content , so when you ate the banana in the morning you could of had it on toast with some peanut butter (fat) or avo (fat) toast . naturally if you are eating enough calories you should be getting enough vitamins and minerals , but if you have not been then it would be wise to get a vitamin supplement for the time being or even in general because you travel a lot just to make sure your iron ect are all good 👍xx

Hey Louis, you should eat a lot more, because vegan food is usually lower in calories. :) If you eat more (carbohydrates) you'll have much more energy. You even said you had like one banana that day, haha. :P Also, if you are low on iron, which could be why you feel faint, you should eat more dark greens or beetroot, stuff like that. Because of the way we triple-wash our produce these days is also hard to get enough vitamin B12 (which is produced by bacteria in the soil), so that is something you should consider supplementing. And before anyone starts: A lot of meat eaters are vitamin B12 deficient as well. The meat industry even infuses the meat people eat with vitamins by giving shots or supplements to the animals (so it's "second-hand" as well). There is no perfect diet, veganism is just the most peaceful and sustainable one. ;)

You were climbing the other day, maybe your neck muscles are just a bit jammed and that may cause the feeling of nearly fainting.. I get really dizzy when I stand up, and it's because I get dehydrated really easily. You drink tons of coffee, but you need to drink lots of water. If you take your body weight in pounds and divide that by two, this is how many ounces of water you should drink. I don't know about that in metric form though.

if you are almoast fainting when u stand up i would look into getting iron suppliments and/or eat more food with high iron. it may be related to ur diet changes. i am not a doctor, but i had the same issue, and it helped me, not saying you should roule out any other possibilities tho Dietary iron has two main forms: heme and nonheme Plants and iron-fortified foods contain nonheme iron only, whereas meat, seafood, and poultry contain both heme and nonheme iron Dietary sources of nonheme iron include nuts, beans, vegetables, and fortified grain products.

Could be a iron deficiency, I used to be anemic from not enough iron and I would black out sometimes standing up, but always got dizzy standing up if not blacking out. Maybe get your vitamin levels checked out also not enough vitamin D can do it too I had that and iron problem before same happens. Hope it'll get better soon Louis! That's no good with a busy life like yours

You could have orthostatic hypotension! Its just when your body isn't adjusting fast enough to changes in position and your blood pressure drops. Try going from a laying to sitting position, waiting like 2 seconds, and then slowing getting up. Also drink lots of water!

for the nearly fainting thing I Always get that and usually it is due to dehydration or just stand up slowly so the blood doesn't all go to your head

It doesn't sound like you're eating enough, make sure you're taking your B12 supplements as well - low b12 can cause dizziness and pins and needles in your fingers and toes.

If you're dizzy it might be because you have low iron (since we vegetarians don't get any iron intake from meat) and to help you can eat more lettuce (because apparently you can get iron from leaves o.O ) or you can get iron tablets- which are kind of like vitamin pill thingys but they taste nice

In the nicest way possible... The reason why your dizzy when you stand up is because your drinking a lot of coffee which is really dehydrating and NOT ENOUGH WATER!!! :) and that will make you feel dizzy and yeah.

When I stand up I get tunnel vision and get very dizzy (have to hold on to something) and a nurse told me that it is because I have low blood pressure. So you might have the same thing - noting to worry about according to her.

I black out almost every time I stand up too. Keeping hydrated is great but electrolytes could be out of balance. Odly enough mine comes from when I have too much calcium in my system. Take you vitamins and keep close tabs on it because it may be an inner ear problem. I hope you feel better! Those episodes of blackness are scary!

Hi Louis, the dizziness/feeling faint you describe when standing after sitting sounds like Postural Hypotension. There are a few reasons why people feel this way, one being Anaemia/low iron levels (very common in 'new' vegetarians & vegans). If it persists, get checked out by your local GP. They'll probably advise a full blood examination to determine what's going on. Take care. Keep us posted x

Postural hypo-tension, a sudden drop in blood pressure when going from sitting or lying down to standing up. Sounds scary but is usually just a case low blood volume, easily fixed with an increase in water aim for 2L a day (or until pee is lime juice in colour) if it continues and your worried maybe go to the doctor to check it out. :)

With all your travelling and such, I think it would be wise to go get a check up with a doctor to make sure everything's a-okay. And with your month of travel coming up, it'd probably bring some peace of mind to make sure that you're all healthy and up to date on shots and what not.

Dehydration is a major diet-related factor that can lead to feelings of dizziness. Vegetarian foods such as carrots, apples, oat bran, nuts, and flax are rich in soluble fiber, which absorbs water in the digestive tract. As such, switching to a vegetarian diet without increasing your water intake could lead to dizziness from dehydration. Drink More Water Louis!

Louis nuts and seeds are your greatest friends for getting the calories IN as a vegan. Carry trail mix with you at all times and snack. Smoothies too. You can get 1000+ calories. You might want to start carrying some kind of protein powder but i don't know how that will work while travelling but honestly eat because you're not getting the calories you need and this can damage you!
