I'm guessing because normally nobody can see her, she likely moves quicker than most people can see to get into the dungeons and with them being dark, makes it hard to see, the only reason that Jade found out, is because he has sharp eye sight

From what I remember when reading the source material she basically does tend to cover her junior's asses when they leave stuff unfinished or fucked up like that. Her weird receptionist pride and all that. So her workload makes sense in that regard; it's partly self-inflicted but not all due to (her own) incompetence. And as she says herself, she's tried leaving problems for future her to solve before, but then she realized that just makes future her even more miserable. If it helps put things in perspective, the anime doesn't really bring it up but there's usually weeks or even months between moments where big shit happens in her life, so she's not in perpetual overtime hell like she looks. It's just that her normal days are really boring so the story only bothers to move when she's _actually_ swamped with overtime. For the funnies.

The manga and light novel highlight that she also stays behind to deal with all the work other people leave unfinished. It's also not an eternal hell of paperwork or anything, the story has a lot of time skips that the anime adaptation just doesn't really bring up. It could be weeks or even whole months between shit hitting the fan, it's just that she's always caught doing overtime whenever the story gets back into gear again. Because it's funny that way.

Technically she kept the secret for 2 years, but I guess that her activities were not that overly important to the plot, we are starting at the point where her secret identity is falling apart XD. Why the guild master, whom presumably was a skilled adventurer, never went to any of these dungeons before to reveal her identity is a slight plot hole tho.

Brilliant episode, but I was a little disappointed when Alina did not break Slay legs. Maybe that makes me evil? But I just wanted him to suffer by never by able to walk again. After what he did to Alya’s house which she still had 30 years left to pay her montage on. Which means that now she is basically both homeless and broke. Also Slay’s plan is so over reactive that he wants to destroy a town with lots of innocents, just because Alina and her coworker did not give him a secret quest. But then again Alina is not really smarter in how she went into a fight with her face unexposed up in the town square. While she knows that her boss has an ability that makes him able to turn back time to look at certain events. So naturally her identity is exposed to him. Also really loved Jade’s party member as the pink haired girl said that Alina probably always has hated him. And that she would ship them if she did not think that he had zero chance with her. I was happy that her other party member did try to stop her. As even if that is the truth that is to hurtful to hear for a man who is in love. Then I really liked how Alina got her powers when she did proclaim that she did not wanna work overtime. Which makes me a bit uncertain how useless or not the gods/goddess of this world is. To give such powers to someone who does not wanna be an adventure and just live a normal comfortable life

I was also like oh that guy fucked up by destroying her house, but she didn't even learn from ep1 that her hood was not enough. Now she did go even out in pure daylight without wearing a mask believing in her hood. Even superman tried harder by using glasses as a disguise 🤣🤣🤣 Now I can't wait for the next episode where she makes that guild master her call momma.

What he's actually doing this entire episode (I'm 1/2 wanting to say he's got it rough but also 1/2 wanting to tell him to tone it down) is to get her to go out with him.

Oh Alina, you sweet summer child... She was already discovered once in the cave for not wearing a mask or an equivalent to protect her face, she goes and does it again. And because this time she was in the city, the guild master who has time manipulation powers, which is so cool, saw her face as well. Honestly incredible... I love this show. It's shows like these that make me love anime for what it is. Not every story has to be some deep plot, balls to the walls action and plot twists... Sometimes I want a show that makes me smile from ear to ear and actually make me crave to see more. It happened with Reincarnated as a Sword, Let This Griving Soul Retire and The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic just to name a few. Alina is a vibe... In one moment, she loves her job... In the next she absolutely dispises it because of overtime but she loves the stable nature of it. If she can just get past the overtime, this is a prefect job for someone who doesn't need to risk their life to have a good income. I laughed when I saw her house was absolutely destroyed... And it seems like there is no insurance company in this place which makes it even funnier but sad at the same time. I don't know if Jade is just down bad for her because he is trying to get on her good side a lot or is he just a nice guy who sees the potential in her for his guild since the guy last week retired. We got a flashback of her and how she got her powers... I guess the Gods were so moved by her struggle that they gave a giant hammer to take care of her problems easily. I wonder if that included dealing with whiny customers like that asshole who destroyed her house 😂 Also Jade asking if she wanted to stay at his place... Slick... But she ain't interested 😂 Anyway, the guild master wants some hands and I'm curious to see what will happen next. I'm with you and that she will probably be doing 2 jobs at once... By day she'll probably be the receptionist and by night she'll probably go out and do some missions. The comedy writes itself and the production is pretty damn good as well. I love how everything looks and moves. It fits the vibe of the show and I am very much looking forward to seeing more. It's a top 3 show right now for me FOR SURE. Great review Brandon. I’ve just finished watching the latest episode of the show. And I must admit, the main lead female protagonist is not only cute & beautiful, but bad-ass too. Alina is the beautifully bad-ass in this show and her abilities as well her potential weapon shows her an absolutely awesome character. So I look forward to see her story plus her goals in the coming episodes.

Man... this is, hands down, my favorite "origin story" in a hot minute. Truly, the tragic story of an overworked desk slave. Now that she has the chance, Alina should hammer down some finer details with the Guildmaster about compensations, paid holidays, and work hours. Y'know, to help her with her current home situation. This anime is filled with a lots of "lolsville" moments - and it hasn't even stopped ever since the very beginning of the series...! xD That receptionist really lives a very interesting life ever since she received her "heavenly gifts!" Like, it leads to some VERY interesting, yet probably annoying moments in her life - and, now that she got somewhat exposed, is getting even more weirder by the moment...! o~O I can only hope that she gets herself out of this mess and life a stress-free life, but....! Not a huge fan of Jade. Sure, he helped her with the paperwork but other than that he is mainly just stalking her and abusing his role in the guild to stay near her when she already told him to get lost. He knows a secret that could get her fired so his presence is less 'oh, what a nice guy' and more 'the person who could potentially ruin my life won't stop bothering me'. And like she said in the beginning, he's too popular for her to beat up without anyone caring and openly refuting him in public would raise suspicions so she can't really do much against his advances, except telling him off, which he just ignores

I feel that the show is moving too fast... it's racing ahead without letting the character moments settle in, and I feel that's a shame. we're halfway through the first LN volume and it's only ep2 (only 4 Volumes are available in english). on the upside it means we'll get to the reason she decided to become a receptionist before episode 8; on the downside it means that that impactful moment will have far too little emotional weight...
