When you were typing op-art apart 1. I noticed it had an i instead of 1. Could that be the reason you couldn’t find it?

i couldn't find much about the Labirintus puzzles, except that 1. the company name is just VAMA (23:04) their logo is kinda similar to the Vans one, i tried looking for it but there's many"vama" brands, and none of the ones i found made puzzles or had this logo. The main MIlan-based one made hand dryers. 2. the "model kit" part probably just means that you assemble it first and then play with the finished maze, but 3. i'm really suspicious about the "modello depositato" after it. it sounds like it's just a model being used as a proof of concept to be registered for a patent, i don't know how it ties in with the fact that there are two with the exact same design and same color, but it makes sense to have a number 3 with a different design. 4. There's a ® symbol after the number 1, and also after the triangular puzzle piece shape in the bottom right corner, but there's none after the 3. It probably did not get registered and is not an actual product, and the one this image shows is the proof of concept model. 5. at 23:09 the box says "600 tales" instead of the english "pieces" or the italian "pezzi". i checked the other latin alphabet languages on the box, and it's no french, no german, and no spanish. i don't know what language it is 6. i tried to follow worthpoint to find the ebay listing for the Labirintus 3, and it brings me to an error page, it's in australian ebay, and i don't know if it's a clue but there 7. i really tried to read the back of the Labirintus 3 box but the image is so, so pielated and i don't know if there's any clues there anymore

Hi Karen, I don't know about rare puzzles, but since you like puzzles of puzzles, I thought I would mention some I know of. They aren't rare, but you might still enjoy them, if you can get your hands on them. The company is Puls Entertaintment and I think they're a german company. They seem to be specializing in very hard puzzles and they have several "das puzzle mit puzzle motiv". They call them Puzzle Puzzle (gold), Puzzle Puzzle² (blue), Puzzle Puzzle³ (green). The pictures are different, not just the colors. But I don't know if they're available in the US.

(Sorry it's a bit wordy...) Even though you already have it, I found a mysterious connection that may help with the Lawson and Lawson puzzles. I was looking on eBay for the Crossword Jigsaw Puzzle and I found one that looks just like your puzzle! I ended up purchasing it because it was a great price, but noticed it looked a little bit different than yours! So, I compared the picture on WorthPoint (which looks like your puzzle) and noticed a few differences, but also some similarities! Once it arrives, I will be able to compare them even better. However, your puzzle is from Lawson in Wilton, Connecticut and the one I found is from New Approaches Inc. from Wilton, Connecticut. Did they perhaps change their name? I think that might be the case because the WorthPoint picture shows a bit of the up/down hints and they seem to be the exact same as the ones in the eBay picture for the New Approaches Inc. puzzle. The cover to your crossword puzzle a little more to the left and the one I bought is a little more centered. HOWEVER... when I searched "New Approaches Puzzle" on eBay, a 3rd version of the exact same puzzle appears! It has yellow on the box in addition to the black and white and it says Series 1, No. 1 ... but when looking again at the sheet of clues - they are the exact same!! So...did the company just remake the exact same puzzle over and over again with just a new box?! I hope this helps some!

@@alessiaagazzi8605 I have a follow up on the VAMA company. I have searched for "vama model kit" and found and active ebay italy listing for a model kit. The logo on the box seems similar with the one the puzzle, so it might be the same. Also, there is another older italian company which make model kits named Italeri. They might know something about the other company. @karenpuzzles I have sent you more information about these in an email.

Okay so I was born in 1979 but my grandma had tons of puzzles because she was a big Puzzler. I swear I remember the round competitive puzzle. If I'm correct each one of the concentric circles are their own jigsaw puzzle and then, put together, they slide so that you can line up the numbers to solve another puzzle like a decoder. I can't tell you anything about this puzzle other than that, but I'm pretty sure I remember playing with it as a small child!!!

@@KarenPuzzles sadly I don't have pictures from my childhood, due to some natural disasters, but the memory is pretty solid. I used to chain together the concentric circles and swing it around so it must have been a pretty solid puzzle 😅😅😅 heh. I would never treat a puzzle that way now!!!

I just looked up on ebay and the rarest or at least most expensive puzzles there were the asian Kremis Island Diddy Kong puzzle for >3000$ and the Heye 8000 piece New York puzzle for >2000€. It was very interesting to see that even new Ravensburger puzzles from 1978 were under 100€. Maybe this looks different on other continents (I am from Germany).

Karen, my late dad was an avid jigsaw puzzler back in the day, and we kids would buy him ones like the solid color and op-art ones back in the 1970s - 80s. When he passed in 2017 none of us wanted them, and we Goodwilled the entire collection. So I can't send you anything, but would recommend thrift stores as a possible source for folks looking for puzzles.

I bought the maze puzzle from Bits and Pieces so they may know more about them. If I remember, you have a contact there. There were three different mazes in red, blue, and green. The blue one you showed looks like the same pattern as the red one, but I'm pretty sure that all three mazes were different when they appeared in the catalog. I'll also send you email on a silver optic puzzle which looks like it could be part of the set of those puzzles which came in blue boxes, but mine is a different pattern. The puzzle actually fits inside the box, which is what the ones you showed looked like. Good luck with finding all the mysterious puzzles you want.

Hey am I the only one who really does like landscape puzzles?! I looooove solving the sky, especially when it's a sunset cuz it's just sooo pretty. And I also love solving grass, mountains and water because it is basically almost like a solid coloured puzzle with an interesting texture, which makes it so much more challenging and cool to solve!

I'm from Germany and i'm pretty sure you can just message the people on ebay in english and than you can buy the old krypt puzzels or others you can find there. You'll have to pay quite a bit of shipping I suppose, but I can't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to buy from there.

So I looked into the Ravensburger graphic and the old crypt puzzles and you’re right here in Germany they really aren’t that hard to get, on eBay Kleinanzeigen I even saw to of the crypt ones for only 10€, so with a contact in Germany you should definitely be able to get your hands on those. It appears the best way to search for the Ravensburger Graphic puzzles is just to use those two words: Ravensburger (and maybe Ravensberger just in case) Graphic (and maybe Graphics as well). I noticed a Graphic 2 puzzle sold from a seller in Germany almost exactly a month ago for a reasonable price (excluding shipping). For some reason, though, even though the title included "Graphic 2", a completed item search for Ravensberger "Graphics 2" didn't show it.

One copy of the Graphic III from Ravensburger is mine, but it reminds me to my childhood, because my brother and I puzzled it several times together. It is really beautiful and worth to have. But there are actual similar puzzles available from Remember, a company from Krefeld, Germany. I just love their mysterious designs. ❤

I started a couple of collections years ago but soon I realized that I only wanted the rare and unique versions of those things; so I had to stop because it was very difficult and expensive, really impossible to get them. I don't find it interesting to collect things that are not rare, unique and everyone can get, but that's just me. I truly hope that you find your holy grail puzzles Karen. Keep posting please.

well....I was able to find info on Lawson & Lawson by absolute random chance and some rooting around in the national archives but I haven't finished my digging. It seems that the copyright holder is a man named Tomas Lawson and he was (is?) an artist. Outside of these puzzles, there seems to be very little other 'game' type work that he's done. Most of his art is small scale sculpture; small pieces you'd have on a desk or side table. What's crazy is that my dad owned one of these sculptures (and I'm sure it's still in storage) as we owned a house right near Wilton, CT. However, I haven't been able to find anything about the puzzles or any current info about him yet. I'll keep you posted!

Oh my gosh, okay, so I hadn't finished watching the video before I made my previous comment but I also remember having that Halley's Comet puzzle!!!!! I was absolutely *obsessed* with Halley's Comet as a kid!!! Yes, at 6 years old I was already a huge science nerd🤣 I had tons of Halley's Comet merch from back in the day, sadly it's all been lost to history! Embarrassingly enough, I don't think I ever finished the puzzle because it was just too hard for me back then 😭😅

I kind of wish you'd try putting together the patternless shapes puzzle. It's so different from any other puzzle I've seen. I'd really like to see if you find it easy or difficult, frustrating or fun, etc. If it's fun, it would be cool to see puzzles like that back on the market.

The Eaton puzzles are interesting. Here in Canada we used to have a department store similar to Sears called Eaton's, and the font in their logo looked pretty much exactly like the one used on those puzzles. They filed for bankruptcy and closed down back in the late 90s. Eaton isn't exactly an uncommon name so probably not related, but fascinating. Also in the points listing for the coffee puzzle, it looks like the hidden word ends in "us" so maybe "genius"? Did I solve the mystery? lol I do a lot of thrift shopping and definitely always look at the puzzles, so I'm really hoping to come across one your holy grails someday to send to you!

20:34 - you should totally try to assemble a puzzle in its plastic bag. I know people do that for the Lego Advent calendars. I guess footprint of the completed puzzle would be an issue, but... maybe there might be a small kids puzzle out there? Or do sections?

I owned the Ravensburger Graphic V puzzle as a kid in the mid 70s. Unfortunately it is long gone. I loved that puzzle and did it multiple times (and had lost a couple of pieces 😞). Good luck with the hunt.

My grandparents had a solid-color puzzle that was bright blue. Somehow my grandmother had some orange trays from a fast-food place, and she used a couple of them to hold the pieces. She had to stop because the orange and blue together gave her a headache. 😄

I’ve been looking all over for a puzzle I did all the time as a kid. Pretty sure it was ravensburger. Kids puzzle so maybe 150 pieces. It was drawn cartoon style and it was a busy chalet-style hotel. Bought on holiday in the Black Forest but probably donated to charity in UK in the 90s and then gone forever. ☹️

I would love to try A Puzzlement! Like you I think its a great image. That it has a 'mysterious' aspect makes it even more appealing.

My mom liked doing puzzles so usually us kids would make sure she got a tough one at Christmas with the usual result that we'd be helping work it. One of the worst we ever got her was called 'The Flat Banana' It was solid yellow except for a Dole logo sticker. That one took a while.
