Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and allows you to own less and own better.

These are hunting boots- they remind me of many of the northeastern hunting boots- the L.L.Bean reference was spot on. Many boot enthusiasts are very focused on the Northwest Logger style but this style is more common and more practical in the Northeast and Great Lakes states.

I love these boots. I picked up a pair in tan. Agree totally about the laces. Just don't fit the style of the boot. I replaced mine with Guarded Goods paracord and much improved. I'm not sure about the D-rings, but they do function well in keeping the boots tied and allow for quick adjustment on longer hikes. It has been snowing/raining/sleeting a ton since I got these. My feet have remained bone dry and warm. I'm a huge fan of your channel and this boot! HNY!

Great timing for this video. I own this boot. Sat in my closet for about a month waiting to be broken in at a new year's cottage trip. Been wearing them exclusively since Thursday. The walnut bison. Can confirm that these are amazing. Got them in the bison. The stock laces are garbage but had some cougar brown leather laces (from Thursday boots aka cobbler's choice) laying around. Bootgasmic perfection.

Well done review (as always) and thank you. These boots actually reminds me (during my childhood and teen years - I am currently 70) of what was called an “Upland Game Boot.” Mine were made by the original Irish Setter company (pre-Red Wing days). I got them for Christmas when I was twelve years old (fortunately my foot had quit growing at a size 11 by then). I wore them for almost 20 years before I finally retired them. At this point in my life I have more boots than I will ever “wear out,” but if I needed a new pair I would definitely take a look at these.

I got a pair of these exact field boots about a week ago and they are top notch as always. You are bang on about the laces. I swapped them out 5 min. after unboxing...lol. I'm not a fan of the d-rings, but get styling-wise I get what they were after. Overall another fantastic offering from GS.

I just got these boot and absolutely love them, but the two things I HATE are those thin laces and D-rings at the top. I put leather laces on my Brass Boots (which would partially solve my D-ring issues) but ordered some paracord laces, which will solved minor displeasure. Enjoyed the review.

Is there any good moc toe with steel toe boots out there? I like moc toe in general and have some of them but my work requires having at least steel toe. I don't necessarily need steel/composite sole but toe must be protective so if something fell on my knee, I can have my insurance activated if I go to any hospital.

They are nice boots, I have three pair. Only complaint is they are too light for the type of boot they are design esthetic. Thicker leather and a real double layered toe would do these boots wonders. My only complaint. Also I can't recommend Pisgah Range laces enough. Every pair of boot I buy get the laces replaced with paracord style laces.

Hi. I was curious about the thickness of the leather in comparison to redwing moc toes. Regarding durability etc. especially out in the field where these are meant for. How have they lasted for you? Do you use them for any specific type of work/ locations or mainly casual everyday easy wear? I really want these in the black but if they’re not durable enough, I’ll have to go with the Whites Perry Select 8”. The wait time is about 2-3 months. :(

I will not deny that these are an interesting nice looking boot that seems to offer a lot for the money, and I will not say that being made in China makes them bad either. Being made in China is just a personal deal breaker for me in the footwear category. I do give a thumbs up to the founder of the company though. He really does seem to be taking advantage of Chinas cutrate labor costs in a good way, to offer the customer more instead of just making higher profit margins. The best of a bad situation I would say.

When Rose Anvil cut the Grant Stone moctoe boots in half and compared them directly to Red Wings, he found that they were, in fact, good quality boots. There were a few cases where the Grant Stone was ever so slightly better (but sometimes just a matter of preference rather than being objectively better) and a few cases where the Red Wing was better. So, a good boot for sure. But… Considering that they are made in China while still being more expensive? I can’t imagine buying these over Red Wing. With Red Wing, I’m buying into the heritage of the company, I’m getting a boot that’s made in the USA, and I’m actually saving money.

I remember from the video some of the differences were that Grant Stone (GS) used veg tan versus chrome tan for Redwing (RW) GS had a full grain leather midsole versus rubber and GS had a full grain leather counter versus a leatherboard. I think these aspects would account for the price difference.
@SkylerKing
@SkylerKing Жыл бұрын
@@tommysmith7031 I agree that they would account for a more expensive boot, if both were made in USA. But “made in USA” typically accounts for a big price jump, as well, which is why I am surprised that the Grant Stones are still more expensive despite being made in China 🤷‍♂️

For me, the China thing is not wanting to support a country that has concentration camps, actively engages in slavery, suppresses their own people, and actively spies on our country. I have no doubt that Chinese made products can be good, and these boots as well as everything else that Grant Stone makes are very likely awesome quality, especially given the price. But just like how I would not have wanted to purchase German made products during the late 1930s and early 1940s, I don't want to actively purchase Chinese made products now. And I know that a huge percentage of things I buy are made in China, but when I can, I actively try not to buy the Chinese version and opt for a competing product made basically anywhere else. And boots like these are a luxury that nobody actually needs. And for luxury goods, I will not opt for the Made in China options. Basically, I will buy made in America if it is an option and I can afford it. Then I will buy made in any other country other than China if possible. And if China is the only option, then I will settle for buying something made in China. Nothing against the Chinese people, on the contrary, they are victims of their own government, but I cannot actively use my money to support concentration camps and slavery if I have alternatives.

The price point isn't worth the compromise. China makes everything already so when you have the ability to buy American you should take that opportunity. That's only my opinion. But I'd rather support as many Made in USA products as I possibly can. This principle has cost me a lot of money and some ridicule from my coworkers on jobs... but I walk the walk.
