She was 63 when this was taped. Her voice was still golden, practically unchanged when she first recorded this when she was 23. It became a huge hit worldwide. She had 5 No1 & 18 Top Ten hits on the Billboard Country Charts. Sadly she passed away just 4 years after this performance. RIP Legend.

And, Lynn did a lot of drinking in her day BUT her vocals stayed very crisp and strong right up to the end. It’s the smokers who lose their beautiful voices over the years…..tobacco and smoking drugs will destroy your vocal chords……ala Whitney Houston (who should still be alive and singing strongly today) but we all know that sad story.

My partner was at Quang Tri Vietnam 70/71. Rose Garden would be regularly played on AFVN every 3/4 hours. At the army bases, fire support bases or in transports/APC’s if safe to do so radios would be turned up when Rose Garden was played. Now 5 decades later each time he hears the song he’ll cry/tear up. Brings back memories of his buddies who were KIA in VN or have passed since DEROS.

She was my childhood sweetheart. I was lucky enough to not only see her peform live, but I got to actually meet, talk with her and she autographed my Album for me. She, Buck Owens and Roy Clark were the headliners for the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs where I was born and raised. I was lucky in the regards that the rodeo brought a lot of Country Stars to it over the years. I met Tammy Wynette, George Jones, almost all the cast of Hee Haw, a young Hank Williams Jrr, Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter and fantastic singer also his wif. and many others. Lynn Anderson has and will always have a special place in my heart.

When I was a little boy I saw her perform at the half time show at that San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and got to shake her hand. Most performers would come out and ride around the arena in the back of a convertible waving at everyone before taking the stage out in the middle. Not her. Lynn comes out wearing a blue sequin outfit and white cowboy hat riding a white horse like she was born in the saddle and goes all the way around the arena shaking hands and talking to all us kids hanging off the rails and took her sweet time to make sure she got to talk to everyone. When she was done she kicked the horse into a gallop and jumped off on to the stage to do her set. I've never seen anything like her and I guess I never will. I was gutted when she died. RIP Lynn. You were the best that ever was.

One of the must-played songs in those dancing parties when I started university in Taiwan back in early seventies. Bring back such great memories of my youth!

I am not a real country music fan but I have always liked this song. I've seen many videos of her performing this song but this recordinding is my favorite. She seems so happy performing with Marty Stuart and his band.

Was lucky to meet her in Taos, New Mexico in December of 2002. Was getting married and she was with her Mom and Dad at the same Hotel as my fiancée and I stayed. She sent a bottle of wine to our room and invited us for dinner! She was amazing and beautiful! What a wonderful memory!

Yes we have always felt blessed as she was so happy for us! When talking to her you felt like you were friends. The people of Taos treated her like the local that she quickly became. Yes something you never forget and a memory to always treasure

I was pleasantly surprised at how excellent that was. Although being older of course - BUT the Vocals, strings and all the musicians as a whole were on point - one of the best on the Marty Stuart show in my opinion - and of course Paul Martin always hits a home run - amazing musician
