This has got to be one of the most beautiful, purposely "relik'ed" guitars I've ever seen with the exception of the swerve on top of the headstock. That I could do without. I know its expensive but what's the big secret about the price? Why all the giving up of personal information exercises one has to go through in order to obtain? Neither you nor Paoletti on its website seem to want to divulge directly.

@@jayteesgear I have a 1966 Telecaster. I was with my best friend when he bought it new in '66. When he died, it went to me. He was a pro musician and he played thousands of gigs with that Tele and he was a hard drinker, with everything that implies, so the guitar shows every minute of the past 57 years on its face. Now, when I see a brand new guitar that is made to look like it's been through thousands of gigs, that, to me, is very akin to art forgery. You'd like a Picasso but can't get an original? Forge one. You'd like a vintage Strat but can't one? Forge one. There's something unsavory about it. But, again, that's just me. I'm not interested in telling anyone else what he should do. Suit yourself.

This guitar sounds fantastic! 😊 I love every single one of the pickup tones, I mean whether split or humbucker, there’s no compromise 👌🏾 Just reminded me of how good of a guitarist you are, Darrell. I was at a guitar clinic at the Music Zoo a few years ago with Richard Fortus, and Richard was showing off his Paoletti. It was an amazing guitar with an incredible tone. If I remember right, the Music Zoo raffled one off !!!!

I had been considering making custom metal pickguards, backplates, and truss rod covers for some of my instruments and I'm glad to have this for a reference now as one way to do it. It clearly worked a treat here. My buddy told me it seemed too heavy, but honestly on an SG it might just help prevent neck dive haha

Darrell, I finally ordered a Strat from Paoletti in firemist green and to spec. I worked with Massiomo and damn it’s nice. I hope to review it on my other channel but I can tell you now, despite the cost, which was hard to pony up, it does not disappoint in any way. Congrats on the SG sig.

Exactly. Having said that - Paletti guitars would be a brand that I'd probably choose to buy a guitar of each type - Strat, SG etc. and sell the rest.

I love my ‘93 SG Special (oddly enough, that year, the Special got the Ebony fretboard, while the higher end models got rosewood), but I just haven’t found a singlecut Les Paul I liked. I’m used to Fender style guitars, the switch feels like it’s in my way all the time (On the Jaguar (and Jazzmaster there is a slide switch up there for the rhythm circuit, but it’s lower profile than the 3-way toggle.)

I had a Gibson SG for a few years. I can confirm headstock dive was an issue but my biggest gripe was the pickup selector I would have preferred it in the Les Paul position, something it looks like Paoletti haven't changed. SGs are traditionally made from mahogany with a glued in neck and truss for access is via a plate on the headstock. I have never thought having to remove the neck to adjust the truss rod was a good idea and I would never buy a guitar with that system for that reason. It looks cool and sounds ok but that type of neck access is a dealbreaker for me.

Hey Darrell, I’m a recent subscriber. Nice channel, you’re obviously a knowledgeable player, so…. I have a lengthy question regarding a few older videos of yours! I’m building a couple partscasters. One already has the bridge issue resolved. The other is a Tele style. Wish I didn’t have to rout but the only option (I’m aware of) to avoid routing is the very multi accessory, Bluetooth one, which is interesting due to the tuning options (baritone, Digitech whammy, etc). But as far as trem systems I’ve been a Floyd Rose user for 25 years. Since you’ve tried & installed several “drop” ins on strats and even though I’m installing on a Tele, I’d like your unbiased opinion. I may have missed some of your tremolo install videos but the 2 that stood out was of course the Floyd Rose that sits on the deck needs lots of lube🤔 and has the stability of a hard tail fixed bridge. The other was the Vega. Does the F. Rose have the same “feel” (I realize it’s not a “pull up” like Vai bridge & the Vega is) but I have that option covered with other guitars) PS, again, unbiased humble opinion, between the 2 of us, that Bluetooth thingy (can’t remember the name). How good, bad of cheesy does it sound? One drawback I wonder about is taking the base (adhesive) plate on & off & on & off. And just how long it sticks, especially if re applied? Sorry for the novella comment but I’m somewhat meticulous in my option choices, especially when $ is involved! ✌️

You know it's been said a million times. Someone will say, if I'm buying a new strat, l.p. whatever, I line them up and pick out the one that is the best for me. It can be the same year, model yet there are slight differences in the sound. It made from wood. We have no control of. So sometimes you'll find that ax that has the mojo. This one has that mojo. I'd rock it. Sound good clean and distorted. In my humble opinion.

I can’t imagine paying that kind of money for any guitar, let alone one that looks like it spent the last two decades being dragged behind a garbage truck, but it certainly sounds great. I love SGs and although this one sounds a lot brighter than the typical Gibson, its pure, bell-like tones are sweet.

That neck plate along with the strap button would be a hindrance compared to a Gibson SG which is of course a set neck. This would probably be a lot nicer if they just would’ve built it that way. This is just preference of course but I’m not into these reliced out guitars, if I’m going used I’ll take one with normal honest wear any day although a ton of players would disagree with that. The guitar sounded nice though, those are indeed nice sounding pups.

Hello Darrell That is a very beautiful design for an SG. There is an old Italian brand by the name of EKO that makes budget guitars, they have a beautiful headstock can you check this brand and do a review in the future for some of their guitars. I saw a very interesting guitar which is EKO Aire relic, maybe you can check on this.

Was almost in love with the guitar and was considering buying one, UNTIL I saw the bolt on neck. Why couldn’t they just do a set neck 😂 to make it even more “traditional”? And it would’ve made playing more comfortable and you don’t need a bolt on as the trust rod access is at the top

Things I like about this guitar: -the sound -the craftsmanship -and I'd imagine the setup must be pretty spot on. Things I massively dislike on this guitar: -the price -the ugly, not at all practical big metal truss rod headstock cover plate, and to a lesser degree the pickguard -the shotgun cartridge knobs (an unnecessary link & nod to hunting, or to gun pride - both idiotic and source of much crap in the world today, IMHO) -the fake aged job... well executed, at least, but still, "relics" are total poser alert (and BTW, why sell it in a pristine spanking new case, then?? beat up and tear that, too, if realism is the goal!🤦🏻‍♂️). Anyway, nice video, as usual. The best endorsrment for this brand is that Dave Kilminster uses their custom made guitars, without the silly shotgun knobs, in the studio and on stage with Roger Waters. Best sounding live show on the planet, so... 🤷🏼‍♂️👍

The bolt on neck with all that weight in the body isn't my first choice of construction. I'd be willing to bet when you hold it by the neck near the nut, it pulls the guitar out of tune very easily. I'm not dig'n the colors on this one, maybe something without yellow and orange in it. I'm looking for an SG Modern to mod.
