"The mascot of KFC". Poor old boy got downgraded from the founder to a mascot. 😭😭😭
@kietsuhime
@kietsuhime Ай бұрын
He's kinda been mascotized . I mean there's different people who act as him in commercials and such. He represents the company . There's even a dating sim of him, which I think you can find on steam, and a short drama, played by Mario Lopez. Sure, he was the founder, but now calling him a mascot, would technically not be wrong. It does kinda feel wrong though, I'll give you that. There's no doubt that he has a legacy though!

It's still unfortunately very much a thing in Japan. Their dark past from that time (especially WW2) isn't taught in schools and is left out in history books. It's really sad cuz they were actually a lot worse than the Nazis with how they treated people and they pretend it didn't happen. A lot of western society probably doesn't know about it either.

so weird fact in Canada we are taught from a young age about the terrible things that our government did in the past due to it being an integral part of our social steadies. being taught all the good and the bad of our history and culture. we're still trying to make things right though it doesn't always work and sometimes does more harm than good. so seeing the reaction of those people denying what happened to those women is baffling and kind of terrifying. how far must their delusions must go to think that was ok.

I think here in the US it used to depend on the region, I grew up in Oklahoma so we learned a lot about how screwed the natives got & my teacher (a former DA) did go into the shittier things the US did but it gets glossed over a lot. My dad taught me about Japanese internment camps and a lot of other stuff the US just doesn't teach about. So I get how people could plug their ears and pretend it didn't happen if they didn't have it come up and have it washed over by their country's achievements.

As much as I wish I could believe "comfort women" didn't happen-- It was war. I 100% believe ALL sides had something like this happen. Ours, theirs, *everyone* because every country has evil people in it. War makes many stop seeing anyone but their side as "real" people and that's when things like this can happen. Sex trafficking still exists, no country is immune. And that's a truth that breaks my heart.

Bloody awful about the sharks, do people not realise that they’re apex predators, and are so necessary to the ocean, they help maintain a healthy ecosystem particularly around reefs. But hey WTF Japan also still hunt’s endangered whales, so really this doesn’t surprise me 🤢🤢🤮🤮
@smauguh
@smauguh Ай бұрын
Actually it is not endangered whales that are the most prominently hunted in Japan, it's mostly the Bryde whale which is one of the most common type of Whale on the planet. Same for the sharks (not saying Japan never did anything wrong, they HAVE hunted endangered species in the past and certain companies still do to this day but it's just not the case today as much as it was before). I totally agree with the fact that it can be a problem in certain areas concerning eco diversity, but what I mean is that for the most pat, the hunt is regulated and not as much as an impact as one might think. It is shocking for us who clearly do not put aquatic mammals in the same bag as fishes but yeah it's more or less the same thing

Interesting that people would deny comfort women existed when last year Japan paid 1 billion yen to the surviving comfort women in South Korea. 34 of the surviving women went on to receive about ¥10 million each. It seems awfully strange that Japan would pay restitution to these women if in fact it had never happened…

Lol right? Partly it is true that a handful of comfort women did go willingly, but they went for work and didn't realize that they would become sex slaves and were not paid/could not go home. The rest were kidnapped if I'm correct. I don't even think they were allowed to keep pregnancies for the most part. I was told by my Korean relatives that Japanese/Korean babies from comfort women were either aborted pre-birth or killed after birth.

Especially with it seeming to become a “cursed” meal to give to someone you don’t like or along the lines of. For those who don’t know too: I don’t mean they’re using rat meat. I mean they’re dumplings in the shape of rats then boiled and served. It’s super cursed seeing people eat them and the tail hanging out of their mouths.

It's heartbreaking how some Japanese still deny those things from ever happening, i mean it's not only Koreans who experience those things Filipinos also suffered the same thing on their hands . It's in the past tho what's done is done and new generations don't need to atone for anything and shouldn't be affected that much. Tho we still need to respect what happened and pass down all the rightful information to the next gen coz what ever happened it's all a part of our history.

The Hanshin tigers have won matches, they just never made it back to winning the series until 2023

Hanshin tigers weren’t winning the pennant in 18 years… they won games. To go 18 years without winning a game in baseball woulda been nuts.
