I wish you the best. I was an owner operator some years ago and began driving again recently. I started back trucking as a company driver with Millis Transfer. I like the idea of becoming an owner operator again someday so will be watching your progress and see how Crete works out for you. Good luck!

I’m new to trucking and I’m currently doing my 30k mile training. I’ve been listening to podcasts and watching as many videos as I can to learn. In 1 to 3 years I would like to be an owner operator

Tyler, great news on buying a truck and leasing on...congrats! I'm on the Shaffer side, was actually thinking the same thing about not a lot of info out there about leasing on with the company as an O/O. I did talk with an O/O briefly in the Lincoln terminal and he sounded very happy with it. Looking forward to following your journey!

im at a spot rn where im looking at getting back into trucking, crete def has my attention. i am also VERY interested in their owner op program. and i agree i see almost no content when it comes to that and crete. you said you bought you own cash truck tho and didnt go through their purchase program? I am curious if there's differences there or if pay still remains the same? i would tend to assume it remains the same but honestly you never know.
@bussamio7 ай бұрын
Only problem when you work as an O/O with a carrier that has company drivers is that most of the time they will take care of their trucks first, especially when it comes to higher paying loads.

Had me nervous in the first half! I've been planning on signing up with Crete. I'm interested in their flatbed division (Hunt Transportation). I wish there was more info on it but it still seems like a quality trucking job. I had a trainer who spent 7 years with Hunt and always said he'd go back if he wanted to do OTR flatbed. I've been doing reefer since I started driving and finally quit it a month ago. Made me miserable. Thinking flatbed might let me enjoy the job more, and maybe keep me a little more healthy. Congrats on going O/O, and I wish you the best of luck with it. Hopefully, Crete's O/O division is just as good for you as the rest of the company! As for the clickbait nonsense, it's nothing really. I found your videos, and I find your content valuable, so you're doing the right things. Thanks!
@TheLivingFreedChannel7 ай бұрын
I don’t know much about Hunt but I’m sure your trainer was right and they’re every bit as good as Crete! Thank you for watching man I appreciate it!

I know you are strongly against debt. Assuming leasing is based on payments, how is it not a debt? Am I missing something? Can possibly elaborate on your leasing approach?
@TheLivingFreedChannel7 ай бұрын
I paid cash for the truck so there’s no payments. I’m pleased onto Cretes authority not leasing a truck from them. A lot of people confuse a lease from a carrier with leasing onto there authority, two totally different things. If I wanted to go to another carrier I could because I have the title to the truck and it’s mine, where as a person leasing a truck from a carrier has to make payments on that truck and can only work for the company the he or she is leasing the truck from. I hope that clears it up for you and maybe I’ll make a video explaining it more!
@ramblingbill91017 ай бұрын
Good choice. Crete will always have lots of loads for you. Plus you get the benefit of buying fuel and having maintenance done at a really good rate. I’m staying a company driver since I plan to retire in 3 years.
