Games aren't re-released because they've "aged better", they're re-released because they were popular. There are a lot of otherwise good games that won't get that treatment due to being overshadowed, licensing, or the company going under, so there is merit in being 'forced' to explore a system's library.

Here we are at the start of November and not only have I stuck to that challenge, but I have managed to finish 30 games on my 3DS! Gonna have one final push in the next two months to finish as many more as I can before opening up my options again and playing on whatever platform I feel like.

Truth. I was born in 89. I pretty much had a Game Boy since I was born. I spent large chunks of my time doing nothing but playing Game Boy. Even more when you add in Game Boy Color and Advance. I STILL play Game Boy games all the time. I either do it on my re-shelled GBA SP 101 with a flash cart, or my emulation handheld. I still have my original grey brick and Pokemon Gold GBC, but playing on them without a backlit screen is just annoying more than fun. And I somehow don't have any of the the millions of worm lights I used to have. One day I'll have the money to buy myself a pre-modded GBC with a nice screen on it. Maybe even get one with a rechargeable battery because why not?

I want to get a modded GBC one day. I have an original GBC actually, but I don't want to mod it since it's one of those fancy Pokemon Gold ones. But money is keeping me from getting one. I did recently spend a chunk of money on an emulation handheld (the Retroid Pocket 2+), but I felt like in the long run, the Retroid would be a better value for the price. It was still cheaper than a pre-modded GBC, and I can play anything from Atari 2600 to Dreamcast (even PS1, PSP, and DS). But I'm definitely gonna get one one day. For now, if I want to play on real hardware, I have a GBA SP 101 and some flash carts.

Maybe you can find a larger gbc display, that would be a video in itself. It would be interesting to visualize something bigger without a backlight. IMO gbc screen is unique in comparison to any other, I'm talking a fascination of Casio g shock display glorified. One possibly reason for getting burned out on a game could be strain on brain/eyes. When you game your face off the realization that staring into a light source directly coming to your face could be not so good for health. Would be gamer heaven if all games could be played without light behind the display. From what I've read the eyes can accumulate free radicals. Color, contrast, light, gamma, etc.. I'm talking actually the lack of enjoyment is complex, gbc might be the very best if on a 15" screen, playing Disgaea 2 without backlight. Ever gone camping with no electronics? The day feel healthier? What are we getting away from? IMO this matter is a concern that will only be addressed from within. Outside sources have a different prospect.

I fucking love the barrel mini-game from superstar saga. Just to make sure that I'm not faking it. You do it in a ship full of skeletons people and you wind up sinking it and the star piece (that looks like a bone) floats out of the ship underwater.

I remember my brother coming up to me a couple years ago after I gave him a 3ds and he told me he bought a game called yoshi I told him he would regret it 10 minutes later he told me I was right he wasn’t mad though the 3ds I gave him had about 3000 dollars worth of downloads on it the only ds I have ever seen more loaded than the one I gave him is my Hylian shield 2ds which has about every game you can think of spread across multiple sd cards

Same Donkey Kong story for me. The surprise of it becoming a giant game blew me away, played it every day till I beat it. The 64 moveset works stupidly well in 2D.

Nothing better than reliving your childhood memories throw a great library of games. Kids these days with there Call of Duty and God of War don't know what real games are.

You don't HAVE to play gameboy games on a basic gameboy, that's torture man. I know it looks cool but get a 101sp for christ sake or a custom regular gba with backlit screen, anything but a gameboy color. Keep it for collector value, never play on it. Do yourself a favor
