The Exotic Class Items are here and today let's go over their Drop Rate from Pale Heart Chests, what is the most optimal farm, and some other tips. The drop rate might be low, but farming them is very doable and solo friendly (albeit a bit boring). And there is a lot of misinformation out there, so let's clear things up.

UPDATE (6/25/2024): The Double Class Item "Bug/Exploit" has just been patched. Still, running Dual Destiny in an efficient manner (20-30min) is still an effective farm and the "better" option if you want to avoid RNG. You can also just teleport to "The Landing", even while you are there to refresh the instance. My brain just never figured that would work XD So, for the most optimal chest farm, just keeping reloading "The Landing". Didn't really impact my farming, as I liked the change of scenery in "The Impasse".

Dude, solo player are “complaining” because you need another person to access it. Not because they have to run it at all. If there was a solo version I’m sure they would run it constantly but they can’t. That’s the issue.

@@Levord1980 I know that. And you only need to run it 1 time per character. So you need to find 1 person, 1 (to 3) time(s). I get people's issues and anxiety with it, I really do. I started as a solo/duo players for years. Eventually I found a good clan, grew out of my shell (as someone who has social anxiety), and started teaching raids and dungeons. This is just a 1 time commitment and then you never need to find people again. But if people are complaining about this, why not the acquisition of Raid or dungeon exotics? Those need 3 to 6 people.

That is pain. In the past week, i had dropped around 30 bonds. One of them had Osmio + Star Eaters (The last one that dropped). All other 29 bonds had either Secant Filaments or Stag in the first column. Never saw any other perk there. Rng is Rng but this was bullshit.

yeah idk why this was not being mentioned in the video. No need to overcomplicate it. The chests spawn in very consistently after 30 seconds each time. No need to go to orbit or a different zone in between.

There is a glitch you can do to get two. If you are both the same class, pick up the first one (both players pick up the same item) at the same time, then to back to the entrance of the boss arena and return to allies at the same time. Then go pick up the remaining item at the same time and you both get two

Notes on chests runs!!!! I’ve farmed these chests for 5 days already. 1. It’s feels like it’s not a probability, it’s a requirement. On average I’ve obtained 1 class item every 75 chests or so (not a 1/50) and have never gotten any close to each other. 2. You can just teleport to the landing’s destination and chests will re-spawn, sometimes as you’re doing the run, you’ll see them spawn in, you’ll hear a noise and experience a small screenshake signifying they’ve spawned. 3. Chests seem so be in a group, if one chest spawns in a certain location then others don’t. You gotta learn them. 4. (Hunters) Aim for high mobility as it makes you jump higher, you gain better height to spot chests in the distance to save you time from running over to check to see if it spawned. 5. (Hunters) Run frostees + grapple nade, it’ll make for faster runs as you can get your grapple back faster 6. Aim for the “sprint = amplify” buff in the Pale Heart destination (can’t think of the name I’m sorry)

My friend got class items from back to back chests yesterday, so yeah. It's just RNG. Like I said in the video, I had a run where i get one in 30 chests, and another one above 90 chests. That's why I logged every chest to see.

@@Commander_Pika its not just RNG. It is 100% true that drop chance increases as you hit more chests. If it was a flat 2% drop rate there would be way more instances of the class items dropping closer together, but this pretty much never happens. If you're friend truly got back to back drops, this is insane luck. After getting you're exotic to drop the next chest probably has less than 0.1% chance to drop.

I ran around like a mad man and picked up every chest I seen, ended up doing 3.5 overthrows to get 1 drop😅. FK that, mission way easier and more engaging. So far I got 5-6 people from LFG through it as well.

The rng will take no prisoners here. Some people are really lucky, and some get absolutely fucking annihilated. After like 15 laps around the landing, opening 5-7 chests each time, i've seen one exotic total

RNG is a horrible loot system, i hate they locked these exotics into it. Imho they should have made some sort of token system so you can choose the perks you want after completing like 10 DD missions choosing a token instead of a random roll each time.

Also, from a game design point of view and as a solo player, it feels a bit boring and stupid to waste time doing endless circles in the landing for these items. If the mission would not have the double loot glitch, many "non-solos" would be complaining, too. It would have been better to earn tokens or xp (like ciphers) from playing the game in an relevant way and then work towards the wanted combination of perks.

If u ignore RNG. Since there is no drop protection, doing Dual Destiny will almost always be the best farm (double drop exploit or not). But since there are multiple options for people to farm, do what is easiest and most convenient.

I've seen more findings favoring 2.5% but who knows. Also you can load into the landing from the landing, no extra load times. Also fully optimized loops are FASTER than running x1 drop than Dual Destiny but not better than the x2 drop exploit.

I did a fair amount of farming chests last week and eventually (after 8 class items, I think) chests started awarding nothing but XP. No class items, no engrams, no nothing. Just XP. I went to orbit, different landing zones, even waited until the next day after the daily reset. Still just XP. Any idea what happened? Also, I can confirm no knockout system. I got two of the exact same class items.

The circle loop at the landing is boring and brainless, but it works. I do it when I have extra time and my friends aren’t on. I have about 10 per character and 1 great one per character.

thanks for this... yeah i can absolutely say it is definitely the truth. i farmed that way with may warlock, hunter and titan.... don know why, hunter was the best luck to do this, warlock was good, titan felt unlucky....With the hunter it was like aprox every 30 chest, for a dozen chests... With warlock aprox 40 to 50 chests.. With the titan, it took more, one round was 110 or 120 chests for a drop....regards

My problem as a solo player isn’t “finding teammates” or “making friends” it’s that the majority of players in this game are casual which is fine, but forcing me to roll the dice and end up with a casual player most of the time makes farming insufferable. I’ve taught 3 people how to do this at the cost of hours and many resets and have had one (1) competent teammate. My reward after this is getting to burn hours of my time opening chests for a specific roll that I am highly unlikely to get. Everything about this is laborious and generally unsatisfying and I would love for someone to try and change my mind.

@@thesen8 that’s genuinely the dream (as far as destiny 2 is concerned anyway) I’ve joined a bunch of clans that all claim to be raiders and grinders but in actuality there’s maybe one or two players on regularly and when I suggest running a raid or dungeon they rarely want to, instead opting for solo activities/chilling or something of that nature. When I’ve approached discords of speedrunners and/or low man’s etc they’re a little beyond my skill level and (in my experience) aren’t the most approachable people. Not to mention I have little to no experience in those specific activities and I understand they’d rather do runs with their existing teams or B teams than teach a relative newcomer. I suppose I could attempt solo speedrunning to garner clout to perhaps get my foot in the door with one of these groups but that would likely require a substantial time commitment which I’m currently unable to make. Tldr; I guess I’ve been unlucky with groups I’ve come across in my searching:)

Damn I did about 300 yesterday. About 1 for every 70-80 Edit there are 5 chest spawn in the landing don’t waste your time looking for more just fast travel back to the landing. Chest spawn around 20 seconds after spawning. Once you get to about tier 2 of overthrow, go into orbit and go back into the land because some events can disrupt your route. Your skimmer and an eager edge sword are your best friend

I've now opened almost 1500 chests. Just starting to farm, no more than 1 or two exotics per character. My biggest disappointment is the dupe rate. On my warlock, out of my fi4st 16, i had 6 dupes. I think we need a little better dupe protection as the farther i go, the more likely of a dupe. But 40% on a blank character to start is too much.

i kinda wish Dual Destiny had more to it? for most people it's a one and done never look back and will only farm at pale now. They could've got away with making the exotic class item more customizable by allowing players maybe unlock things in the mission maybe Hidden transmog that made the class item a subclass ornament something special you know. It was such a fun mission but could've had more hidden rewards but that is asking for too much from bungie

While i have ppl i can farm the mission with and ive done hours of chest farming i dont particularly enjoy either of these play loops. If i couldnt get double exotics from the mission id not do it at all. Getting a god roll is too inconsistent as well without some kind of knockout system. Ive gotten some god rolls like calibans liars 3x and osmiomancy verity but something like point contact severance i havent gotten after so so many drops.

I farmed over 25 exotics item class with chests run and im pretty sure reload the zone (like i do in dreaming city) doesnt help at all for the simple reason that its not like other planets the state of overthrow stay and i think chest status stay too. i tried reload and seems to change nothing at all. the only way to reset chests is to go back in orbit and comeback. or wait few mins for chests to respawn

Once you load in you have to wait for about 20 seconds until the chests and planet materials spawn. If you have wombo detector and any sniper you can zoom in to see the materials/chests spawn and then you do your farming route

Ive also been farming for the class items on warlock all week and ive created a spreadsheet and my findings have been slightly different. I have strictly been patrolling the landing for chests and have it down to a fine art where I can do 2 loops of 5 chests then 1 loop of 8 chests (with triage chests) and I found that my average is around 5 loops or roughly 30 chests before getting a class item. Ive got about 55 of them now, 15 from the mission and 40ish from patrol and found that the perk chances may be influenced by which method of farming you use though im not sure. In my case im farming for the star eater apotheosis combo and you would assume that each perk has a 1/8 chance to drop in each slot, leading the god roll to be a 1 in 64 chance, however this is not the case (unless im just experiencing a statistical anomoly). Out of my 55+ drops star eaters has dropped 2 times both of which came from my 15 runs of dual destiny, however it did not drop a single time from the 40+ chests drops, whereas every other perk aside from filaments dropped at least 5 times (filaments dropped 4 times). All of my numbers here are estimates as i didnt start recording the drops on my spreadsheets until i farmed 30 class items in a row without seeing star eaters once, by which point i had already deleted a few duplicates and didnt remember the perks. So basically chest drop rates may be skewed, whereas dual destiny seems to have an equal chance for all perks to drop.

Unlocking the mission (so defeating the 3 wizards and then dunking the 2 orbs) is once per account. You then need to complete the mission once per character to get class items from Pale Heart chests.

no, the class item won’t start dropping until the you do the mission on that specific character. but since you unlocked the mission on warlock at least-as long as your friend/duo has the mission unlocked also, then you can switch to hunter (even if hunter hasn’t started dlc) and do the mission, and every chest from the campaign and such will have a chance to drop the class item

honestly great to have the info and i will 100% use it but also just cause something can be done doesn't mean how its done is good, this is absolutely awful game design for an other wise amazing dlc so far. requiring players to find another player to sit and do the same thing over and over or doing literally the most boring crap like opening chests is just not okay for an item that not only has several variants but is also pivotal to load outs. hope they do better in the future cause this is pretty disappointing.

5:24 I never understood this idea with the destiny community. Its been really rough for me to find ONE person to play with, but there is this idea of "Oh now that you have found one just go find three or SIX now" like wtf..... The game is fun, but the fact that it is near impossible for you to do some content unless you have a group is so frustrating, yet people say "Uhh just do it"

Did the dupe and got 20 horrible rolls. Opened chests and the first 2 I got were the god rolls I wanted lol

it took me around 1,5h with this method to get a single class items with the worst roll known to mankind, yeah no i won't be farming this one, i'll stick to my regular builds.

I’m fine with the mission needing two people or having to finish the mission to be able to get the exotic class item, the only thing that I wish was optional is the timer

Honestly the timer is so forgiving. I only play with random and we consistently have 15+ minutes remaining

After the first 2 runs for me the time wasn't an issue, ended up finishing my 3rd run with 13 minutes left whilst also playing with a random from lfg so the timer isn't that bad

Overthrow isn't daily rotating, they rotate every completion

btw u can get dual destiny done in like 11 minutes the minimum definitely isnt 20

Sure...if you are speedrunning at World Record pace. 99.9% of players aren't. 20-35min is the conservative range of completion time.
