As a saxophone player, I would like to say that if your having a few problems getting the sound out it could be because you have the mouthpiece on the upside down like you do in this video, and unless you play with a synthetic reed, you need to soak your reed with your spit. As gross as it may sound, it is the way of the saxophone.

You playing the saxophone for the first time wasn't too terribly bad. One thing you should do is play with some people let you know that play these instruments and learn to see what you can get in a week of learning these new instruments to you

Eric- the reed should be positioned to the bottom of the mouthpiece so you can roll the mouthpiece into your mouth with the lower lip rolled over your bottom teeth. Your top teeth should rest lightly on the top of the mouthpiece. Make sure to wet the reed before playing for better results. Place the reed into your mouth like a sucker for a few minutes before playing. The reed vibrates better when wet. I'm actually looking for an alto sax. This is the only wind instrument that I don't currently own. Let me know if you want to get rid of it. By the way, gloves are not necessary for playing the saxophone. Cheaper companies (sorry) provide gloves with their instruments for some reason.

I want to see Eric try this one: *Solo* First: Play 16th Notes at 100bpm. Next: Play R, L, R. R, L, R R RL. Repeat! *Group of Three* First: All three must play the Solo above. Next: Have Left and Right drummer in between their drum pad, and the middle drum pad. *Left and Right will mirror each with the following* Next: Right Left, Both. Righ Left, R L. *Left and Right drummer must maneuver their arms between their drum with pattern above* *Example: Right Left on their drum, then both on the middle, then repeat and quickly add Right Left on the middle again* Middle Drummer: Right Left *Arms up* Right Left *Arms up* RL. All Three: Repeat drum pattern above for 15 to 20 seconds, and end off with the Left and Right drummer hitting their drum pad and the middle drum pad three times, and the middle hit their drum pad at the same time as Left and Right. On the third hit of the drum pads, raise both arms!

There's either one of 2 reasons... #1 They were hoping for a less critical review.... as if you don't play that instrument, you don't know what's good or not. #2 They just really like you and want you to be happy.

Even though every precaution is I know it appears to be infinitely more about playing saxophone than you do. I'm terribly sorry. First mouthpieces upside down. I'm sure all the counters of told you that. Second the little black sticker thingies and go on the mouthpiece to protect your top teeth from buzzing too much. Third you do not need to soak the reed in water just set it in your mouth for about 2 minutes while you assemble the rest of the instrument. And forth, holy crap I am very impressed by your ability to play a dry upside-down saxophone. Source, my high school band teacher spends no time on the drum section, half of band class is sitting around waiting for him to fix other sections individually.
