Trevor, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but happy you caught it early to begin treatment with IVIG. I can fully relate to where I was diagnosed with cancer called CLL (chronic lymphocytic Leukemia) 2 years ago which was a shock as I was in the hospital for double pneumonia. I'm now on monthly IVIG infusions as well where my IgG is low which is a condition of CLL that basically destroys my immune system where I can't fight off respiratory infections. I'm now in evaluation for a lung transplant which is sad as I was a college baseball pitcher. Prayers for you and control of your auto-immune disease so that you will return to MLB soon!

1:22 dude I have a colonoscopy scheduled for Wednesday, I had my gallbladder taken out a couple years ago go and I’ve never felt 100% like myself since. I’m going down the rabbit hole of testing to figure out if my symptoms are derived from something like Chron’s or UC. their postseason is already over. bauer pitched super well on short rest in the finals to close it out. their series went 4-1 over puebla, 4-0 over yucatan, 4-3 over oaxaca, and 4-0 over monterrey in the finals

My close family member plays in the National Division of the Major League. In a recent gathering, I asked several players from his team what they think about Trevor Bauer and his KZbin channel. First, they say they watch his KZbin a lot. Second, they say Trevor should be back in the MLB. From this small sample, it's not the current MLB players that don't want Trevor to return. My nephew was born blind then got a really bad case of Guillain-Barré syndrome a couple years ago. He was fully paralyzed by it and can't even eat or talk anymore. Glad to hear your case was pretty mild and you are feeling better now!

I had guillain-barré when I was 15 years old. I couldn't walk properly or even hold fork and knife while eating. It was literally hell on earth for me. Luckily I got healthy from it but I had to go through lots of physical therapy to build back my basic motor skills. I am eternally thankful for all the doctors who helped me to get back to a healthy condition. So yes... I can relate with Trevor on how bad guillain-barré can be.

This is what my med school textbook says about Guillain-Barré : "Autoimmune condition that destroys Schwann cells via inflammation and demyelination of motor fibers, sensory fibers, peripheral nerves (including CN III-XII). Likely facilitated by molecular mimicry and triggered by inoculations or stress. Despite association with infections (eg, Campylobacter jejuni, viruses [eg, Zika]), no definitive causal link to any pathogen. Results in symmetric ascending muscle weakness/paralysis and depressed/absent DTRs beginning in lower extremities. Facial paralysis (usually bilateral) and respiratory failure are common. May see autonomic dysregulation (eg, cardiac irregularities, hypertension, hypotension) or sensory abnormalities. Most patients survive with good functional recovery." Hey Trevor, here is wishing you a speedy recovery. Rewind to cholera…then antibiotics that undoubtedly affected your intestinal microbiome. That disruption in the biome led to the immune attack on your intestinal lining causing your colonic ulcerations. The immunologic/biologic you were put on for the colitis then set the stage for the pathology that led to your demyelinating disease. Fix the gut biome you fix all the problems. You might look to a fecal microbiome transplant to re-establish a healthy biome and treat your U.C. (Ulcerative colitis).

I'm so happy to hear you got diagnosed quickly. Drop-foot is a very serious symptom, and 2 people I know have had it, and it was a result of MS, which is a lifelong battle with no cure. My dad had guillain-barre. My dad essentially became paralyzed for a couple months. He had to relearn how to hold a fork, use his hands, and relearning to walk. When he went to the hospital they thought he was having a stroke. It also hits very fast like only a few hours. Prayers up to Maximus and anyone suffering from guillain-barre.

I thought it may have been some form of neuropathy. I have diabetic neuropathy in my left foot along with foot drop, used to be my entire leg, but slowly getting better now thankfully, and your symptoms looked like mine.i still have the numbness and "static" in mine, but they dead "boot foot" feeling and general loss of feel sucks to have. Good luck managing and hopefully beating your GBS.
