I did the same female faces tried to paint one every day for a year ended up with one hundred and ten. Wish I had concentrated on hair and hair styles too but no I really concentrated on the face, head tilt position, skin tones, etc. I put them in a journal naming it Womans faces.....lol but I do use the journal for my references. Love Cats and I will save this video to look at and smile THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Absolutely love your work. You're too hard on yourself, in a sense. I suppose I have 'fresh eyes' and I don't know what the expectations or sketch or reference were so I go into it surprised and happy each time. In my own work I often have to take very long breaks between seeing it and working on it again to feel that 'freshness'. I also understand that seeing and knowing what you're unhappy with in a painting is how you push yourself and grow, but I thought you should know some of my favorites were the ones you talked about having an underdeveloped sketch. Wonderful video and art, I really enjoyed the commentary!

Thanks so much! Negative self-talk is definitely a difficult habit to break. But I actually do feel like this project has helped me become less critical of myself. The old me would have never had the confidence to make and post a video like this haha.

First of all, this is quite an achievement so congratulations on meeting this monumental goal!! Also, your work is gorgeous! I cannot possibly choose a single favorite cat, they are all so beautiful! I absolutely loved watching the progression of your work, I absolutely love your backgrounds which I'm sure is weird but I struggle with knowing what to do with a background so to me that in itself is a great success. I spent a majority of your video wondering why I cannot get such gorgeous eyes when I paint my pets but after watching one of your speedpaints I am now inspired to add additional mediums, maybe that's all I'm missing?! Thanks so much! 💖 I'm glad to hear you like the backgrounds. Honestly, I don't have a clue what to do with them either so I just picked a color I was liking that day haha. Eyes can be difficult for sure! I definitely support experimenting with different mediums. I even found that sometimes, figuring something out using pencils actually lead to me understanding how to accomplish the same feeling with the paint to start with.

This came up in my recommended..last night I bought Terry Runyon’s new book on painting cats-while she does primarily watercolor, it’s easy to adapt other mediums and I think you’d like her styles. I got the kindle version with credits, but I think it’s just $10 if you’re interested! Just get the sample and check it out! I’m also stuck in what my best friend calls “the perfectionist’s closet”. I have a beautiful Princess, 1/2 Maine Coon, my Ginger Dr Kitty Leela and I lost track of how many “trials” I’ve done trying to get her coloring right..I just can’t seem to even come close. The only “stripes” she has are on her face, otherwise she appears more pale pinky peach/orange..except in the Sun, her long hair almost glows golden. I’m determined to get it right, but I’m afraid I WILL be stuck in my “closet” a bit longer..landscapes, florals, even some other critters, no problem! But my Princess? 🤷🏼‍♀️😸

The different expressions on their little cat faces are Priceless! Excellent paintings:) Letting the underpainting pink, etc show through gives them more zing. Check out Paul Bailey, Bob Burridge, Allison Watt, Jane Davies for more on that, if you haven't already. Keep painting!

I looooove hearing you talk about the journey, not only of learning different techniques but also being able to see the project through. That's a major achievement! I'm not good at drawing animals so for me it was neat to see the different ways you depicted fur and whiskers, and all of their eyes were so vibrant and alive! Did you reach out to any of the shelters with your project? I bet they'd love to see it. Thank you for sharing!! PS, can't wait for the sketchbook tour!

Thank you!! 💖 I haven't reached out to any yet, but I'm thinking of going back and checking to see which ones haven't been adopted yet and mailing the painting to the shelter so it can go home with their eventual adopter. A lot of the cats I chose to paint were seniors, had medical issues, or were former ferals and those kitties always seem to take longer to find a home. :(

Wow!! What a cool journey to watch. I love that you put the first and the last side by side in the end. They all looked lovely to me. 100 paintings is a huge accomplishment! It doesn't matter how long it took. Also thank you for doing the voice-over. I can't concentrate on videos with no chatting! I know it's a little weird at first, but you get used to the sound of your own voice eventually! 😂

Aww kitties 😍 I also paint cats and think what you achieved looks great like all of it! Lately I'm thinking seriously of including pencils in my paintings. I liked using watercolor & gouache together before. I appreciate you talking about your process of developing your style or rather painting regularly. Sometimes it is necessary to shut the harsher critical voices we hear and not listen to it because sometimes it over exaggerates how horrible we did and under appreciate what we were able to achieve. And I seriously relate to having such a hard time starting a painting. I painted a gorgeous semi-realistic comission for a couple with like over 10+ amazing flowers, but somehow I really find it difficult to do art for myself. 🥹

Just at the start of the video so apologies if I end up with more comments-- I recently bought some "craft matte acrylic" from Micheal's while it was on clearance and it's really good if you're looking for that chalky feeling. (they remind me of those cheap apple barrel paints at Walmart, but I've never tried those) I haven't done much with it so far but it just has a 'grit' to it that I think would work well in mixed media. So far loving your art, style, and material choices-- thank you KZbin recommendations!!!

I love your cats! They are all great! I painted something the other day that came out almost impressionistic, which was wild! Where the heck did that come from…I’m still working on style..I do watercolor mostly, but I have some nice gouache too, and a butt load of pencils…

Oh, you're right! All the black kitties I painted had white markings. I'll definitely have to try painting some solid black cats in the future. :)
