When I feel afraid to “waste” my supplies, it’s usually the more expensive items I own. And I’m working to replace my current medium grade supplies with higher quality ones. Pretty soon I will be sitting and just admiring my supplies and not using any of them! 🤣

What a fun video, amazing work! Hard to pick a favorite but I agree the fuzzy owl probably tops my list. Although I do love the house reflected in the water, you killed that sky! I'm moving to a new house soon and will have a much larger space to work in, I'm hoping if I can readily see what I have, I'll use more of my supplies. That's always a challenge for us folks with a tiny part of the dining table to work on, lol!

That is so true! My poor husband when I took over our kitchen table (and, eventually, one of the chairs LOL!!!), before I just designated the office my studio, too. It's really, really luxurious to have a space dedicated to your art and your supplies. ENJOY and congrats on the move!!!

You are such a ray of sunshine in this art community! Each of your sketchbook pages were incredible! It's hard to pick a favorite?!? I just went off of the largest list she sent to make sure I didn't leave anyone out, but trust me, I don't regret having you in there because the more people who find your wonderful, relaxing, instructive channel, the better!! I think you could get just as much out of a four hour challenge as the ten, just fewer pieces, so if you do decide to do it on your own in future that might be a way to do it without it feeling like your sacrificing time with your sweet hubby and three kiddos!! Thank you for the sweet, wonderful words about me and my channel, it means SO MUCH coming from you!!! That's a great idea about doing a shorter challenge! I liked the idea of joining in with friends, so I think an Instagram challenge like Inktober might be good. Wow you did a lot in 10 hours, and I love how you tried to mix it up on the subject and supplies. I think for me I struggle to pick what to use, having so many supplies I get all excited trying to decide what to use but in the end I take too long picking that I don't want to use any of them by them, if that makes sense. I loved the cute bunnies, but my top favorite has to the be female portrait.

Oh my goodness you are totally a Quokka, haha! I love every piece you made, but the little baby turtle mixed media one, oh my grsh, he might be my favorite 😍 did you use ink for the shell? That color is so pretty next to the blues. This challenge is so so fun, and I really appreciate being invited to participate but I'm not sure I was meant to end up on the list since I wasn't able to participate this time. Also it was surprising when you said this is the first time you've felt that pressure on your art and having to sit down for a long stretch of time... I think I feel that *most* of the time with art and I have to push through that to experience fun part, if that makes sense. I think my spirit animal would be a be a sloth because I paint so slow, haha 😆

The turtle was all W&N and Holbein gouache except for the gold foil pen! I just mixed it with a bit more water for that washy, inky look. I love a sloth, no wonder I ❤️ you!!

I so know how you feel! I have seen recent "destash" videos where people give away or trade the supplies they don't love but that other people would adore, and I'm definitely planning to do that on my channel eventually. I don't want to regret purchasing things I didn't end up loving, but then they just sit around reminding me anyway because I don't use them (just like your polychromos experience!)! I wonder if you could get a trade going on Colorfully Optimistic's discord. She's the color pencil Queen :)!!

The challenges within the challenge … I feel like this is the truth of life 😂. It’s awesome that this challenge pushed you beyond the “wasteful to use it.” My hardest thing to use is probably sketchbooks and or canvas. In the back of my mind I always think what if this looks like crap…I’ve wasted my supplies. 😂

I am watching this while dying my hair!! Will update this comment! Edit: Maggie, you are incredible! I am so proud of you that you sat through all this, I know very well how hard it is to do longer projects though while I am still working on the same sketch 10h (because of all my breaks and because like 40% of the time it’s just me staring at the progress thinking what to do next) - you finished your sketchbook with sketches that are art pieces and started a new one! I think what I loved the most about this is how you jumped between mediums, we get to see so many different art materials we know from your other videos! And the cuteness overload of course! The very last portrait is probably my favorite even though it’s hard to pick one, this video is full of amazing pieces. There is just something about her expression, plus you rendered her skin so thoroughly despite Stilman & Birn being an a$$. The cottages as well as the turtle turned out fantastic as well. well, everything really. Thanks so much for sharing this and having recorded it!

Interesting to hear your commentary throughout. I love the pictures with ink, as the colours just bloom & morph in such a fab way. Funny you feel less confident with portraits - I can totally relate to that. I'm doing a Lorna Scobie 365 days book & todays activity was to do something that challenges you & I too went to a portrait...it too came out pretty well, but wouldn't have gone there without the prompt. Maggie, you got me really worried at the beginning, because when I sent the four of you (as it was then - you and Miranda have made it grow bigger. 🙃) CrissTea's video... kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIfCpJejl8p6as0 ... and suggested a collab (though not to fill a sketchbook in 24hours!!!) I didn't expect such a big one (i guess MIranda chose the format, and I love it!), and you seemed to be really struggling ... and then .... Suddenly, you were getting out of it as much as you were putting in, and you seem to have gained so much from it in the end that, as with Miranda's, I'm feeling rather tearful with happiness. Thank you for taking part, thank you for the video. However... Asking me to choose a favourite is almost as big a challenge!!! I can't. I've chosen the House in the Mossy rocks at 6:42 , and the final portrait, and I refuse to attempt to choose any one of the animals! It's impossible!!!
