Congrats! I’m taking the exam in July. For the math questions - does the Pearson test system allow an easy way to write out your work? I read scrap paper isn’t allowed so wasn’t sure how difficult it was to do the ratio calculations.

Congratulations! Is it best to get the non-member first time registration and then get the exam prep bundle for the member price? How much did you spend in total for the certification all together? Can I take 3 months to prepare for the exam? Thanks in advance.

@freshzuccini5959 It was cheaper fore to get membership and then buy the prep bundle. 3 months should be enough, as long as you put in 1-2 hours a day to get ready for the test.

I did not set a timer. My approach was to take the practice exam, read the book and then complete the Learning Ecosystem materials. That was sufficient in my case, although I had already earned my Financial Risk Manager certification.

My method was not efficient: 0. Take the initial assessment 1. Read the curriculum on your own without doing the questions. I did not take noted for this. 2. Take the assessment again to evaluate retention. 3. Complete the online learning curriculum, every question. 4. Complete the case studies* 5. Take the practice exam. I already had an FRM certification and had 2 years treasury experience, which helped on the FX and derivatives piece

@vuducanh81 1. I bought their curriculum and read that. The text is the same as the online learning system. 2. The learning materials from AFP are directly aligned with the exam. 3. The first practice exam was roughly 2 hours The first read through was 20 hours. The learning ecosystem, videos and case studies were roughly 65-70 hours. The exit assessment and practice exam were 5 hours. From my experience with the practice exam, my initial score was 55% and my score before the exam was ~65%. The cut off is possibly in that range: My exam also felt heavily focused on FX and derivative related questions. Which helped a lot given my own education and knowledge base

How many months of study prior to the exam do you recommend?

2-3 months depending on how much time you can consistently study if you are trying to take the test soon. I switched windows and had an 8 month cushion to take a gradual pace. My approach was to read through the curriculum once and then go through the curriculum again, answering all of the questions several months later. It was inefficient, but definitely effective.

What is the passing grade?

It is not a fixed score. However, I got ~63% of the questions correct in the mock exams in the CTP learning ecosystem. The AFP learning materials are sufficient, but you need to put in the time.
