I once had a Rockstar dev join my game once to pull information on me before and made the conclusion of nerfing mission payouts. I couldn't play with my friends because they were significantly worse and didn't enjoy my lobbies. And I could only play solo for so long with the lame disbanding lobbies before getting bored. I remember I made a new wz account near the end of verdansk and just plummeted to my death and got myself killed for like 10 games straight. Fired up a duos match with my 1KD friend and we both dropped 15 with ground loot playing like absolute maniacs and just toying with people who had no idea what was happening. Night and day difference from the 2KD lobbies my main account dealt with. I think I'm done with cod. The last couple months I haven't played have been so peaceful.

Everything from your sensitivity, jump shots, strafing while shooting, how often you outshoot someone who shot you first, and many more factors affect your “sbmm” score. It is quickly tuned to your current play, even if ur kd still sucks.

When MW2019 came out I bought the game to play with my friend, and my friend invited a former professional contact who turned out to have been one of the audio engineers for the game. This guy was absolutely hilarious, he raged so hard and was always on the mic flaming the enemy team, and when we went and played the horrendous Spec Ops mode as a trio he actually said whoever designed that mode deserves to be fired. a good example of developer knowing the game and knowing the audience is look at Jason Blundell he took over the zombies mode mid way though BO2 and has made some of the francises best zombies modes and maps eg mob of the dead, origins, shadows of evil, der eisendrache to name a few. Jason spoke to the zombies community he is legitimately good friends with zombies content creators like Mr T Lex and Mr Roflwaffles and has appeared in videos outside of zombies promotion because he had a passion for the zombies mode itself not just he made the game for money!

Genuinely, I think they do a decent job at balancing. MW2 launch weapons had a very clear tier list, but over time, they got a good balance among them. Bringing in pro players would ruin the balance because they may know the game, but they'd also be partial to their favorites. The thing is that you don't need pro players to tell you SBMM is bad for casual play. Everyone can tell you it's bad because nobody but sweats are having fun.

Treyarch, Sledgehammer, Activision, there is many different tags hackers can set. Also you randomly hear people sometimes because they manually unmutted you. Communications bans work by muting you in-game for everyone, but people can unmute you and hear you.

I've been saying this since forever, the real and only way to make a good game would be to employ a team of say 10 advisors, say for example content creators and just every day average Joe's who can prove they have a KD higher than negative, the other group of advisors would be people who have a 2+ KD and the final group of people who are exceptionally good at the game with 3-5 KD. Get them into a monthly meeting and just listen to what they have to say and take it on board. The developers HAVE to listen and implement each feedback. Voila you have a game that is actually worth playing.

Kind of was in a similar situation in Cold War (last cod I bought). I generally sit at around a 3.2 kd on most CoDs since I played since the beginning. While my friend's are good players, they aren't at that level. I don't even have fun in those lobbies when Im usually finishing first on the team. Most times devs do have a hard time playing their game, because they don't spend their time trying to improve at it (like players do), but rather they spend time making it, that's why they have testers, community feedback and all. Each dev also work on different things, it's not like they all do balancing. The fact they don't listen to testers of feedback is another thing, but the fact a dev plays badly doesn't seem at all surprising, strange or revealing.

Im kind of 50/50 on it, I feel like you should be decent at games to be a developer just because skill shows experience that you have in that field, and I feel like they should have that experience to know what goes into making a good game. On the other hand, what say do devs really have when working for a company on a game. For those that don't know, back when I was working for activision, we used to test drive pre-trained AI in low sbmm lobbies and it would usually have that tag to announce that it's a bot so people don't feel offended by the low skill plays. I don't know if it changed over time but yeah you can always assume the developers are weaker than newborn cod kids.

My favorite part of SBMM is i have to shower afterwards, its always a sweat feast and after a game of TDM you feel disgusted. At least zombies is decent and fun.

Issue is pro play vs the top 1% are completely different games in every game then you have the majority of players and finally the disabled lobbys

Another sports analogy, when playing pick up, you play whoever is present and willing to play = good ping, and you play whos in front of you regardless of skill level = normal casual lobby. If you are of better skill, you play in a league or private runs with people of higher skill = competitive/ranked play. Rigging games for optimized engagement? What fun is it to be forced to lose?
