Soon (In like 2 weeks from now) it will be free until Stormblood. And that is huge. And regarding why a max lvl player would do low lvl content is because of the tomes you were talking about with which you got your gear. Once you get max level you can do this dungeons via daily roulettes and you will get the max lvl tomes, even if it is a low lvl dungeon. :)

All LoA needs to do is copy some of the systems from this game. The roulette system is genius, the idea of guaranteed 100% having people to join you on early content and those players still getting something rewarding for themselves for their endgame makes for a good first time dungeon or raid experience that made me wanna stick around. You still have Party Finder for less match making vibe and more organised raids with stuff like iLvl or duty completion requirements for learning and farming parties of higher end content.

Hey Sywo. Been a fan since you started posting Lost Ark content for the NA release. Just one clarification on why you see so many people queueing into old content - the "Roulette" system is a way players level up and it places you in ANY content that your current job COULD queue for. This keeps the old content relevant for up to max level players. Even max level, you get end-game tokens for gear etc. from getting Crystal Tower in your Alliance Raid Roulette.

It's a good deal, however after playing both Lost Ark (1k hours) and FFXIV (10.5k hours), I still can find a lot of problems in XIV mainly this expansion having the biggest content drought ever and the same issue as LOA one guy can wipe the raid in endgame raids making it extremely frustrating and a time waster. The community is definitely better than most mmos (that doesn't mean there aren't some bad eggs or deadweights). However that being said, before you get to the point I'm at (which is basically a "second job" login on a schedule for raid 5 days a week), overall you will have tons of fun with the game so go for it if u havent played yet!

I think the issue with Endwalker isn't that there is a lack of content as much as the content doesn't really have much lifespan. It can be consumed pretty quickly. Compared to the past when we had Bozja, Ishgard Restoration, relics with more involved steps and Eureka, it means people run out of stuff that is rewarding to continue playing more quickly. All that said, Heavensward's patch cycle was far worse so I feel pretty confident this can improve as long as the devs give some content that can be chewed on for longer.

@@brynphillips9957 Well yes, but I would also argue that the quality of the content in Endwalker post 6.0 has been extremely lackluster and boring. Compared to Shabowbringers, even though they had difficulties due to Covid and had to dilute the amount of things to be released (plus some delays) it was overall of much much higher quality than Endwalker. This is why I currently do not enjoy the game, there is simply nothing to do apart from Savage and Ultimate reclears, what is available at 90 is not interesting and even the MSQ has been an “on-rails” experience to unlock the new obvious dungeon/trial (not spoiling but you know 6.1+ the bad guy was known for ages and it was just a matter of time). Compare this to 5.1+ MSQ and the Weapon trials (even though we knew which ones exist based on previous FFs, they made it interesting enough). It’s a shame Covid happened and had to reduce the amount of content from Shb, while that was okay, it’s not okay to keep the lessened amount of content in Endwalker too, and to top it off make it not very replayable. Maybe it sounds like I’m bashing the expansion, but honestly I’m just giving my opinion. To clarify, 6.0 the base Endwalker was a 10/10, after that it’s probably half that grade. I hope they do better in Dawntrail, but after seeing who’s the writer for the Msq I have little hope left.

It's great, I got into it recently. But the thing that NO ONE says (at least that I've encountered) is that you will spend literally months in the MSQ before you even get to 'end game.' This isn't a bad thing though, because the game puts you through dungeons/trials/raids as you go. But it's definitely a different experience from most other MMOs I find.

I appreciate that system more when I tried Destiny 2. The game just delete all the base game (basically A realm reborn to Stormblood) and just put new player in the latest expansion. It's so stupid. At least with FFXIV new player get to slowly experience the game and learn the mechanics.

I started playing FFXIV after I got burned out on Lost Ark. I love it. My favorite thing is how you can play all jobs on 1 character and also do all professions. It really is great

Lost Ark was my first MMO, but after discovering Final Fantasy 14, man it's a whole another experience. One of my favorite games, the story in Shadowbringers/Endwalker gets so cool, the savage raid mechanics are fun and gearing up as a new player isn't punishing

FFXIV is such a well built MMO. The matchmaking adding queues that put you in content that's enjoyable but also makes sure older content still has plenty of players is amazing and the job system is flawless letting you experience everything. Also the endless dungeons that allow you to level up new jobs without having to grind as much id really enjoyable. And crafting! Best crafting system out of any MMO because it makes you actually try to be good at it but also the levequests let you level professions without needing to grind and make 100s of the same item to grind out experience. Overall, best MMO on the market hands down

Is my main but I play LA too, ff14 can be too extreme on the casual side too. My main attraction is raids so once clear the game doesn't give you a reason to grind anything so might as well log off. This won't be an issue for new players for a LONG time. Tip: some of the MSQ raids are severely outgear that mechanics are skip and boss fall out that is jarring. Try to item level l sync if you able to find a party.

FF XIV is one of the best MMORPGs, i love how flashy the skills are but the global cooldown my god feels freaking slow. However, 3 months of playing it and I love it, amazing skills, amazing graphics, amazing community but yeah it's expensive i can't afford it if i have to keep subscribing it every month and then buy the expansion on top of that

I went back to Runescape and never looked back at Lost Ark ever since. Simply being allowed to enjoy the game how and when I want and don't have to resort to forced dailies and weeklies and homework Legion Raids... it massively improved my mental state and my fun playing MMORPG again. Lost Ark had this amazing combat (quite honestly, one of the best in the genre), the difference is class choice was godlike.... but everything around it and how the progression and systems are designed made it feel more like an unpaid real life job then a game. And that is why Lost Ark won't have long-term success in the west, because people will simply burn out from all the stress and FOMO and stop playing the game... some quit early, some will jump before the ship sinks down. FFXIV is another MMO just like Runescape where your time is actually respected. The one thing that kept me away was the combat, because as an outsider it just looks... very slow? Yet, if I wanted to try something again, I might go with FFXIV anyways over one more time of Lost Ark. I personally will be done with MMO that are designed around tedious grinds... to get you to swipe with real life money and skip the annoying part.

While FF14 isn't the right game for me because the combat system has felt and probably still feels a bit too bland for my personal taste, I don't know if I agree that a pay-to-play game can respect your time. If I pay for a month, it's not like I will get a full month's worth of play time despite what might happen in real life. Time spent is time...spent with money. But hey, if someone is having fun, then it's always worth spent for any game. And if combat wasn't so distasteful for me, I'd definitely consider trying again, because I do like a lot else about the game.

Ffxiv is my buffer mmo. I Can always come back to it and scratch that itch without no life ing the game. Ffxiv doesn’t have much fomo and the story is top tier. Not as fun as wow combat wise but close enough

Do i want an mmo that respects my time? I do want an mmo to respect my time invested i guesss but not verticle progression mmo does cuz they wipe out the relevance of all your equipment every patch lol. Elder scrolls online for example hasnt forced me to upgrade my gear power in 10 years. Horizontal progession is my personal preference.

The downside of FFXIV is that it respects our time too much. mmorpg online must instill a firm growth goal in users and provide them with the drive to continue playing the game with motivation to reach that goal. The driving force behind this is mmorpg online, which encourages people to log in and play the game little by little, if not every day. However, FFXIV is very lacking in that regard.

Combat in ffxiv just feels too bland for me. It feels more tedious than fun.. even just killing a basic trash mob doing story quests felt tedious.

It felt like that for me too, until lv80+, which is too long of a time. This shows that the game is quite hand-holding for casuals at the start, they expect to teach people who haven't played an MMO before. Though there are stuff for gamers up there, the sleeping early game can't really be skipped. If you do end game raids it's quite fun, but to reach that level you need some time, but it's not designed for you to fall behind like LostArk and that's relaxing.

I don't consider it respecting my time that any new expansion a fresh player can get to the same point as me in a couple of weeks or a month after playing through the main story (or paying to skip it). I don't mind when there is catch up to the raid a few patches behind or something, but FFXIV, at least last I played, literally lets you skip to the latest endgame raid. This is not necessarily a bad thing, I think FFXIV is great in a lot of ways but I wouldn't say it respects my time.

I am guessing your not someone who really gets into deep storytelling. That is fine. Not everyone enjoys the same thing. For me, without a good story I just cant get into a game for long even if it does have solid gameplay. In FF14, the leveling experiance and story is part of the core gameplay and enjoyment it provides rather than it being something that is an obsticle between starting and endgame.

FFXIV is a very story focused MMO, and a large chunk of the player base play mainly/solely for said story. For these players, the hours and hours of text and story IS the fun part and they don't consider it a waste of time. Not everyone shares you idea of fun or plays MMOs for the same reasons you do. FFXIV is obviously a bad game FOR YOU. I personally wouldn't recommend FFXIV to anyone who doesn't care about story, is only interested in endgame content, wants a more hardcore MMO experience, and/or dynamic combat. However, this doesn't mean FFXIV is objectively a bad game and the millions of people who do enjoy it must all be lying to themselves. The reason why people say the game respects you time is because the games makes it easy to take extended breaks. You can leave FFXIV for months and still jump back into endgame content with little to no catch-up needed. Also once you reach endgame, it's very easy to catch-up with established players. The same cannot be said about Lost Ark.

narrative driven game. not much else to say lol. i won't lie it definitely did suck at the start though but I just pushed through and it got better. Believe me when people say they love the game they aren't being gaslit lmao. I could say similar negative things about every mmo. Lost ark sure as hell don't respect your time. Warcraft doesn't respect your time, money or you as a player at all aha. old school runescape is the most grindy mmo ever where most of the gameplay is just clicking on things and waiting until the highest level content which takes maybe thousands of hours to get to.
