So many commenters talk about the character design, but to me the overall look of the game is much prettier than previous Atelier games. It really draws me in to the "summer adventure" relaxing gameplay that Gust is promising. I also like the changes they made to combat, exploration & alchemy. This is shaping up to be my most-played game next month!

I agree with you. I will admit Ryza's design caught me at first but I was always skeptical since character design doesn't always translate to the rest of the game. Luckily for this game we have an attractive main character, a gorgeous environment design, an interesting gameplay.

Atelier Annie is an oddball on the series. First Atelier game I played, never even knew about the series at the time, and was half-crap on English (I'm just slight-crap now lol). Thanks for this preview. I'm certainly interested in picking this title up, though I'm not sure whether it'll be right away, as it's a bit pricey. After being thoroughly burned out on JRPGs from playing the Neptunia Re;Birth games, I'm wondering whether this game will make me feel like I'm playing 'more of the same'. It was important that you pointed out the detail about how the game seems to be designed for controllers and how you had a look at the graphical settings. I already have a controller but others who are looking to get into this game might not. Replayability and long-term interest is also important to me, especially at the high asking price for this game, so if it's a case of you just play through a linear story and then that's it, I'll probably wait on this.

Game nearly nails the 3D anime atheistic without looking utterly cheap or to wonky, the series has been getting pretty good at pulling this off. A lot of "anime inspired" games consistently miss the mark on this. I will say the walking/running animations are kind of jittery when it comes to changing directions, which honestly all games have is some respect. But running it's self still looks stiff and unnatural. There is still a "cheapness" in terms of the face models and facial animations. Their always seems to some sort of flatness and an uncannyness to the faces as a consequence of replicating how faces in anime usually look like but, that's to be expected considered the size of the company we're dealing with. In fact for their size i'm kind of amazed the game looks this good. The textures are on point, the aesthetic and world are wonderful, The animations are amazing despite really not chaining together in a clean way. The character models are good, the character designs have always been top notch, and thighs.

I'm going to be playing it on my Switch but that's kind of sad that they ported it over to PC without setting up proper keyboard and mouse controls. Granted I do play some PC games with a controller but PC and mouse is always a must on that platform and should be supported first and foremost. With consoles you can guarantee that users have a controller just like with PC users you can guarantee that they'll have a mouse and keyboard. However a controller is an optional feature for PC users as you can't control your computer outside of games with a controller (well for the most part. I know when you hit the Xbox Button it'll bring up a menu you can surf through but I've never seen navigation via windows on a controller).

It wasn't a real time time limit, but a in game time limit. For example, in Rorona, the government gives your shop a series of assignments over the course of a few years, and shuts down the shop if you fail any of them. Travel, alchemy, and gathering all take time, and so does gathering. You also can make time pass by sleeping on the couch, and if you do that enough early on, you'll get a bad ending, IIRC...

(not like sexy and cute stuff it's bad, but it becomes a problem when the focus in just on that instead of more important aspects like a good story) The music is still good (they use the music of "the golden age" of gust games with some mixes here and there, it's good, the gameplay could be improved upon the one of mana khemia tho.
