So while the first 3 games, Cars, Cars Mater National, and Cars Race O Rama maybe feel like cash grabs, I will say each game does build up each other. In the end of Cars 1 after you complete the story, McQueen, mater, and Sally go off to find a place to build the stadium, and there’s a sign in free roam showing McQueens headquarters coming soon, which we see being built in Mater National. Mater National is kinda just a reskin, but when you go to the other parts of the world it gets more unique. And Race O Rama is the finale as chick and McQueen fight for the new stadium. I just find it kinda cool that Cars had a cohesive trilogy, before the actual movie trilogy.

To answer the question about whether anyone liked Planes…..I did! I was born about a year before Cars originally released, so by the time you had Cars 2 come out and then Planes, I was right in the phase that I could become practically obsessed over it (to the point I’ve probably watched it half a dozen times after my parents bought the DVD). Planes: Fire & Rescue was different but I still enjoyed it, as it gave a kid-friendly explanation to some of the ways forest fires/wildfires are handled and contained (not to mention it was my introduction to AC/DC’s Thunderstruck). Kinda wish they had made another one, but I think overall Cars 3 was a better route for the franchise. I only remember playing MaterNational on the Wii and maybe the Cars 2 game, I personally liked them but considering I was already obsessed with the franchise it was hard to hate on them.

Mater National actually did have licensed music (though less then the previous game and imthey also weren't as good) it had Can't Stop the Rock by Apollo 440, I Can't Drive 55 (Instrumental) by Sammy Hagar, What I Like About You by The Romantics and Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts if you want to count that. It wouldn't surprise me if the licenses expired and the Steam version lacks them now though.

Nice work as always. If you've only seen them as an adult, the Cars movies are just ok. This isn't to say they're bad - 'just ok' is pretty good on the kids movies scale - but they're definitely kid movies, and almost every other Pixar movie has been good for both children and adults.

I had Cars 2 for the DS and I remember enjoying it, especially the oil rig spy mission where you have to use stealth. I was 12 I think, but years later, just for S&G, I bought Cars 2 for the PS3, kind of expecting to see more cool stealth missions in higher res, etc. Man, when I realized that wasn't a thing on the PS3, I was so disappointed lol. I played it to like 60% and never finished it.

About Cars-O-Rama, the DS game had a feature that the ps2 and ps3 did not have. Like the hidden screenshots you can get with the mechanics. This is the game i loved in my childhood i did not have a ps2 or 3. I still love it to this day. The musics are great and nostalgic. Cars 2 is the best one of them all tbf its really fun playing multiplayer ! I think some people will agree with what i said.

Nah, Owen Wilson voices Lightning in the 1st game. Keith, however, voices him in every Cars game after the 1st title. Now that I'm done being pedantic, the 1st game was probably one of the best licensed kids movie games I've played! That one had me addicted for hours at times. There're definitely higher-quality and professionally made racing games like Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Burnout, or Ridge Racer. But, the Cars video game had cars that could jump, talk, and show personality, which helped it stand out from other racing games by giving it more platforming and story-telling elements than a lot of racing games. If only it were just a lot harder... and if only it would've had a better physics engine so I felt like I was driving a full-sized automobile (that talks) as opposed to a big, floaty cardboard box. If they would've evolved on those 2 things in the later games, I think Cars could've spawned a truly great racing game franchise.
