I like mauga, but I’m having a hard time keeping up with him because he just needs SO MUCH HEALING, otherwise he gets melted, and my dps need healing too. He’s definitely a character in which you have to sync with him so he can win fights

I do wonder if the amount of healing he needs is because of his hitbox alone or if it’s more a product of how much healing a tank going AGAINST Mauga playing without cover needs and the vast majority of games right now and mauga v mauga that just attempt to mow each other down lol

I feel like a good Mauga knows how to minimize the damage they take. Whenever I play him I make sure I'm near cover and play high ground whenever possible because he has solid poke and can hide his body.

Mauga, who doesn't face an Ana, has so much self healing. Especially other tanks other than Mauga dont even do any damage to him. He can easily tank a bastion on his own when he has his E up. That is ALOT of survivability.

genuinely that self heal buff on overdrive means dmg boost on mauga goes crazyy. i dont even bother healing during overdrive bc as long as mauga has targets in front of him for his heal i think he actually heals more with dmg boost than my beam 😂

I think Lucio may have a place in organized play with Mauga. Mauga doesn’t benefit from Lucio, but the rest of the team could keep up with Mauga’s mobility. That may be a really smothering, oppressive comp.

As a Lucio main, being able to amp speed my Bastion into the fray after my Mauga full dives is a good feeling. Pair your Lucio with a Bap to babysit Mauga it could be a good comp

Mauga is a weird one. He can be really good but he’s one that needs A LOT of healing but also A LOT of damage from the other side. Extremely frustrating to go up against without the proper setup but same on the ally side. I’m honestly not sure how to feel about him as a support main but time will tell as we find more enablers/counters with him Before anyone calls me out: yes Im silver/gold so I’m incredibly low on the ranking. This is just my take from the metal ranks :)

I personally am liking playing LW with and against him! You can healbot him for fast ult charge, pull him when he dives the backline, and then tree his cage if needed. Against him, you can kinda counter the cage with tree if you get caught or grip a squishy away from his charge/cage. Plus he's really easy to farm ult charge on with your thorns as well!

I like it but also, the LW nerfs just makes LW more harder to play with him tbh and not to mention Mauga just hard counters Tree in his ult. You're better off playing Ana/Bap/Kiri/Moira even lol

Imo even if the enemy mauga shoots the tree it takes so long it will still be beneficial in wasting the enemy maugas time. And getting a tree in your own cage let's you fight more enemies on your own. Not to mention he's the only hero who can remove someone from a cage if they are caught. He's high tier def with mauga

@@metal100k Sym can move people out of the cage as well with her teleporter but that requires people to interact with it (also it can get destroyed, but it can save multiple people potentially), so LW isn't the only one.

honestly from my personal play time mauga with an ana/zen is insane like you can discord them, then anti them and they gonna get shredded or even playing kiri/ana with again anti and sleep but also having kitsune and cleanse is really well up against an enemy ana

Would've liked a little more understanding as to why Kiriko works well with him. Obviously suzu, but not great healing from her to keep him up. Ana and Bap are a given, Mercy seemed to work very well with good heal/boost balance and Zen's discord makes Mauga melt everything. Must just be the Suzu. The scary thing is that it seems all supports work well with him with some a bit better than others. His damage is so insane that just healing him is a game winner.

Just a note about the speed boost. If Mauga has a 30% penalty when shooting and Lucio does 25% boost, that's actually a 12.5% overall speed penalty from firing, not a 5% penalty as ML said.

In lower ranks Mauga definitely needs high heals because all the maugas ive seen mostly, without it, they die. Bc they wont switch or we need a bap and moira😭

I got a 73% winrate, less hours though. I got 15k dmg per 10, what's yours? I agree with your rankings pretty much but I might lw slightly higher. He just has utility that uniquely interacts with mauga. I've really liked lw kiri as a combo.

The anti nade is already too weak, it only stays for a couple seconds and it is countered by kiriko, orisa, sigma, diva, bap lamp NOT TO MENTION all the other character who can guard for themselves or run away like doomfist,ball, rein, winton,reaper, tracer, sombra, eccho, genji, soujourn, moira, lucio, lifeweaver.... WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS: Anti nade is not nearly as powerful as people make it seem if you have good positioning and good cc management, the keep nerfing Ana and it's infuriating.

Reduced healing might be a good option since it doesnt nerf her too much and spamming nade on tanks doesnt become the normal thing to do. Cause as an Ana main myself, since she realsed back in OW1, the playstyle of spamming nades on tanks is not how I want the character to be. I want ana to be HIGH skill HIGH reward. And not low skill (Tank nade spam) and high reward.
