Joe Bonamassa! I'd love to chat with you about auctions, collectable guitars, and of course Jeff Beck! Hit me up instagram.com/officialfstoppers/ Okay Fstoppers readers, I know this video has very little to do with the normal photography reviews, tips, business, and educational content we put out on this channel but this was an extremely important personal experience for me. I hope you enjoy the ride and appreciate one of my side passions outside the world of content creation. If you are new to Jeff Beck's music, here is a simplified guide on where I suggest you start Blow By Blow - 1975, jazz/rock fusion, some would say Jeff's most important work of all time. 🎵open.spotify.com/album/6fhTDVBs7qeoP3254hMu6u You Had It Coming - 2001, rock/techno, this is probably my favorite album by Jeff. Try to imagine Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page playing anything like this in their 60s! 🎵open.spotify.com/album/2VKdeHabc3wTmiQBd8yGft Loud Hailer - 2016, normal band setting with Rosie Bones singing, "Pull It" might be one of my favorite short compositions by Jeff and Scared for the Children is a masterpiece. I wish Jeff did more albums like this honestly. 🎵open.spotify.com/album/71N67dfMIkvyikV9ygSOuF Live at Ronnie Scotts - one of the greatest live concerts every recorded. What else can I say? Well that was terrific viewing Patrick. I’m so glad you went and you did this. You were the perfect person to go and film and yes, we have this now and it could be the only recording of a good part of his collection before they all go their separate ways. It is a major thing to happen and should be recorded as you have done. Thank you.

@bock1965
@bock1965 27 күн бұрын
@FStoppers His first was a 6 string bass.. cut the wood. Double horn. Main body is blue pine. Horns have three or 4 exotic woods. He bought a premade neck. His second build he is piecing together. Using a Strat as a base and adding typically non Strat hardware. His goal is to design rarely seen configurations of pickups and controls. ... Peace and Merry Christmas...

I think the thing about Jeff's passing that got to me, and you and a lot of other people, is that Jeff was still so active and creative, and vibrant, and we just kind of all forgot he was 80.

I'm 73 now and first saw Jeff Beck when I was 15 and he was in the Yardbirds.I've seen him many times since and utterly adored the very many facets of his stupendous musical career. My heart broke when he died with so much left to give and I don't think it will ever mend. He was exquisitely gifted,with an unsurpassable ear and technique.

Jeff Beck's death hurt me as much as when either of my parents passed away. As a matter of fact, his being on the planet creating some of the most incredible guitar playing was strong heart felt medicine that helped me get thru the day/night. Listening to his music has been helpful, but it always reminds me that the #GOATGuitarist is no longer with us but his musical endeavors will always be here for his family, friends, & fans to enjoy. How much did I love Jeff Beck ? I got to see him 15 times perform his guitar artistry in concert. 1) "Fire Meets Fury" with Stevie Ray Vaughan in Chicago, Illinois 1989 2) 2 times with Santana in 3 days in Illinois & Wisconsin 1995 3) "Who Else" tour 2 times in Illinois 1999 4) "You Had It Coming" tour in Illinois 2001 5) Eric Clapton "Crossroads" shows in 2007 & 2010 in Bridgeview, Illinois 6) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in Cleveland,Ohio 2009 7) Intimate club tour at Park West, Chicago 2009 8) Les Paul tribute tour with Imelda May, Cadillac Theater, Chicago,Illinois 2011 9) Chicago Theater 2015 10) "Loud Hailer" Ravinia Highland Park, Illinois 2016 11) Performed half hour encore with Rod Stewart Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, California 2019 12) "18" tour with Johnny Depp Phoenix, Arizona 2022 EVERY time I saw Jeff Beck perform in concert he never disappointed anyone in attendance. He only got better & better mastering the guitar as the years went on in his life. He was the only musician I have ever seen in my lifetime that propelled me to a place I had only experienced when seeing him live. I was so happy & joyful when I was in attendance watching/listening to him tear it up. I'll never be in that place again unfortunately. I am so grateful & lucky to have seen "The Guv'nor" of guitar as many times as I had. After he passed away, I was feeling every negative feeling anyone could experience. I was devastated. The one thing that helped get me thru the pain was all the famous guitarists & their comments about Jeff Beck. Basically EVERYBODY loved Jeff Beck as far as his guitar playing but also that he was such a kind & humble person to be around. The only thing he loved more than his self made cars & guitar collection was his widow Sandra. Jeff & Sandra were big time animal activists which is another reason why I respected them so much. I miss him. Always will. But I will never forget him or the extraordinary music he created with his guitar. He was "One of One". We will never see another guitarist like him in our lifetime. RIP Jeff Beck. P.S. I ordered an auction catalog for this from Christies.

Incredible but I have mixed feelings. It brings back how sad it is that JB is no longer with us. Also, it’s sad that this incredible collection of historic instruments is going to be spread out amongst the mega wealthy. If I could choose one, just to hold, it would be the Tele Gib. Such an iconic instrument that is quintessentially Jeff’s, with a back story to match.

So how was the action on his guitars you tried? How about the strings? How were the frets? The vibrato bars?
@FStoppers
@FStoppers Ай бұрын
Despite everything I’ve read over the years, Jeff’s necks on his Strats were all pretty thin like a normal worn in neck, the action was pretty low, and the Trem was set exactly like I have mine…floating to where the G can pull up a minor 3rd. Nothing crazy. The reverse headstock guitar did have a noticeable thicker neck yet somehow the lower strings didn’t buzz in the Wilkinson split nut which makes me believe the break angle on that headstock is slightly more of an angle. They did tell me he used thicker bass strings on that guitar to help with it. Keep in mind, Jeff has at least 3 of these reverse headstock guitars and the one I played was the one with no string trees added to the headstock which was the one I’m most curious about. I’ve gone deep down that guitar rabbit hole because I’ve made my own replica of it and the split Wilkinson nut has given me trouble on my low strings. I actually had to go back to a normal version two Wilkinson nut which bums me out a little. The alternative is to add the string trees which I prefer not to do. But yeah, all things considered, all the guitars seemed pretty standard. The tele gib had some different frets that Seymour Duncan put on them but I can’t recall it being too strange. The curator told me Jeff had never had any of his guitars refretted which seems kind of shocking but who knows if that is 100% true. -P

Yeah there are so many guitarists I respect, and Jeff wasn't even the one who inspired me the most as a teenager. But when it's all said and done, he was the best and not once did he release anything that wasn't A+ and mind blowing. Even his least favorite album, Flash, still pushed the boundaries that few could ever cross themselves. My favorite guitar players of all time have bad records, poor choice in collaborations, and degrade in their playing over the decades....but not Jeff, he stands alone. -Patrick

@@maypapa560 yes, I got to play that #4 neck. I’m looking at the photo right now and it has “04” under the high E Sperzel tuner and says “custom built by JW Black Fender USA” on it. There is also a piece of tape with a “6” on it too. I’m trying to figure out more about this green Strat I played. I don’t know when Jeff got the Little Richard guitar but he was given a green Strat in 1989 and then another in 1990. It sounds like maybe 1-2 more were made for him around that time too. To there are about 2-4 green Strats with one being signed by Little Richard. Is this one on display from 1989 or 1990 or one of the later ones? It’s been hard finding info on these. -P

@@FStoppers Hi there. Yep, that Surf Green at the wall is some kind mystery to me too. Original body has been destroyed, original neck has been swapped to the other guitar. However I don't think JB had an another Surf Green. The bases are that He started use that since The Guitar Shop Tour, and at that time that Green had lace Sensor Pick up (3 singles), and no back up Stratos in green color on the back stage ever. The other back up Stratos were white, black. Also his Guitar Tec told in his several interviews, Surf Green Staro is only Little Richard. I know I sound very geeky but my favorite JB Stratos are Little Richard and 54 Sunburst from Steve Marriotte so bothers me so much.
