Like, I'd love to play this game as I was an avid Lego Racers fan when I was a kid. But the pricetag and the fact that it still is asking for aggressive microtransactions in a game that is supposed to be for kids is hard to justify supporting. I'll prolly pick up the basegame once it goes on a sale for like 30 bucks or less

Nah not aggressive transactions, you can only buy brickbux, if you finish the game you get around 100k, yeah you're not gonna buy all cars but you can be selective, a lot of people have really taken to spending that time builing as a joyful perk of the game rather than a mandatory chore.

I do think the microtransactions are a bit much, though you do get around 100k+ via playthrough which is enough to buy a few things, maybe 5 cars or so, which doesn't feel super forceful. What that does do is encourage you to build. Each car you do unlock you can modify to the point that you can pretty much just build something new, which is nice just because they all have different chassis to build off of and you only start with 6. Overall I think it's decent enough

For being a lego fan I would maybe get this game but maybe not right away because racing games are not my thing as I enjoy more of the leggo games based around lego batman or lego city undercover in terms of story and this game just doesn't have that. Racing in lego games has never been my favorite so I really don't want to play a game 100% based on it so this might be one lego game that's a pass for me.

It really looks like a Lego version of forza horizon 5 which is free on game pass. Still a fun game to this day. So yeah I’m probably gonna wait till it goes on sale, if you have an Xbox it may be free on gamepass

I personally agree with you on this review, especially on the absence of the community cars feature and the price they’re asking for if you want the full experience of the game. My only hope is that they learn from the negative reviews and lower the price of the full game and remove as many nonessential/unnecessary microtransactions as possible. Heck, make LEGO 2K Drive purely skills to win if you have to. I’d play it that way if I had the ability to.

I'd been very tempted to pick this up over the last few months as it was on sale for £15 but I held out and was over the moon to see it drop on PlayStation Essential last month. I've been playing the game for over 20 hours and love it. If you enjoy Lego and kart racing I would definitely go for it especially as it's regularly on sale for well under £20 and you don't need to spend any money as everything you need is already included in the game I would give the game a solid 8 outta 10 as a Kart racer and I'm having so much fun I will definitely continue playing and would recommend it to anyone into the genre 👍✌️

I’m 13 hours into the game and haven’t seen the micro transactions yet. I know they’re in the game, but you can play for hours and never even interact with that portion of the game. I also don’t feel like my experience is being hindered at all by ignoring (very easy to do) that entire aspect of the game.

I did a free trial through Playstation Plus, it does has community creations in it. I don't know if thats PS only or what... I had a batmobile, Mr Beans car with chair on roof, Star wars, dinosaurs.... so IDK what he's talking about. Waiting to catch it on a decent sale though. Didn't have enough to it to make me want to grind out the game so the kids can enjoy it.

I bought the awesome edition for 33€ on discount. You keep all the Driving passes after season end ( I'll repeat the first Pass bec of the speed champions cars). Yeah there still these microtransactions, but you get much cash from the Races and activities.

The game is based around micro transactions in the same sense as Fortnite. Cosmetic and very little to no benefit. I bought the base version and think overall it’s worth it transaction’s aside which I’ve found fairly easy to ignore

I paid 60, had I payed 160, I would agree. Story is fun enough for a fair $60. Lego is huge, they have to know what's hottest to focus on. I wouldn't pay so much for anything anymore as the entire gaming community has gotten into bullying. Also Lego has always been pricey.

I hate that i enjoy this game. I got the base game and dont see myself spending any more money im game. I know my game sync bugged and i lost all my game progression but keep all earned currency so theres a small hack there to get more in game money. Might be fixed now though

I believe that forza horizon 4's speed champions DLC is better value than 2k drive you even get another game with the dlc you even get to build your own master builder house better locations to. If you're on the fence about buying drive and you have an x box go for forza

how so? because there are currencies other than the US dollar? in Canada that is literally what the game costs for that edition at the time of recording. The points I raised in the video stand, the game TO ME at this point in time is not worth it, whether it be the base, the slightly more expensive or the VERY expensive version; that is not to say it does not have it's positives (as I mentioned in the video). This is why I think it is best to wait to get this game for a discount.
