I’m a massive fan of this series. The main thing I am excited about is that almost all dlc and extra missions and stuff is bundled in. I never played a few of the dlc because I just never bought them. And the fact they are all Together makes me happppy!

Dragon Age 4 will come first, and it will depend on that, if it's awesome they may work on a sequel to it. If it gets a mixed reception like Andromeda did, they very well could go to a dragon age Origins remaster

Mass Effect games are UE3 and as such a lot easier to remaster. Origins and DA2 engine is probably not worth the hassle.

I did get stuck facing one direction and couldn't move sideways, while playing the rogue VI mission on the moon in ME1. But that been the only really bad bug so far. Even that eventually fixed itself.

This is much needed. I haven’t played Mass Effect in so long and it’s such a treat for PlayStation gamers because a lot of them missed out on it because the PS4 had no backwards compatibility. We also had wait to longer to play ME1 and ME2 on PlayStation as well.

I'm glad you noticed the change in atmosphere due to the lighting changes and reduction of film grain and contrast. For me I can't help but notice it, and couldn't help but notice it even from the first screenshots. I hope they add some sliders in the options menu or something to allow us to better replicate the old atmosphere.

the lighting changes you are seeing are the result of the HDR craze, which is natural to how the eye sees the world but is not natural when trying to present a cinematic experience. the console versions also had radial blurring, motion blurring and blooming to help smooth over the artifacting and pop in/out issues they had back then.

Good initial review Matty. One thing though that you should mention especially for console players of the huge difference the game feels running at 60FPS. For me personally who only has played on 360, this was a major upgrade.

The first Mass Effect had the biggest improvements. I'm fully playing through the 2nd one now. I remember the framerate really chugging, but now it's buttery smooth. Very nice. And the loading times are snappy.

Will be adding copious amounts of film grain back in via ReShade. Mass Effect 1 is the game that made me fall in love with film grain, lens flare, and cinematic effects in general. Will make a more gritty color and lighting setup too. Thank God for PC gaming and ReShade! Overall, this looks like a slam dunk though. High school golden years, here i come! Omg! Those sound changes on the weapons is a really wonderful surprise!

Sooooo, funny story, I started playing this trilogy a few years before the release of Mass Effect Andromeda (an underrated game in my opinion but I have no intention to start a comment war here), and I was lucky enough to get all three games during a sale period, so I probably got the entire trilogy + dlc’s for roughly around £60. Now here we are with the remaster, and I’m just like, “OH YOU HAVE GOTTA BE FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!” But after watching trailers, first looks, and now this impression video, I’m sold, can’t wait for the British release of the game tomorrow at 4pm, gonna be the first thing I do after coming home from work. I could not wait to get my hands on the new Mass Effect Legendary, but what I did notice that glitches that have been there since the original are still there. While I appreciate the massive effort that went into bringing the game to next gen, why not devote some of that effort to handling in game glitches. While talking to Garrus for the first time I watched Kaiden slide across the screen like a freaking ghost, then every time I drive too close to a mineral it prevents me from scanning the mineral and getting back into the Mako. I literally have to leave the planet and come back.

What makes ME 1 work so well for this remaster is that for people who loved the original despite it's relative clunkiness (me, it's still my favorite in the series), we're so happy to have it tuned up and smoothed out and are excited to go exploring again. But for people who are still going to find it has too much jank, you don't really need to do a lot of exploring to appreciate the majority of the story and characters; the side stuff in the first one is less important to the overall story and characters interactions than in 2 and 3. Just do a lot of talking and skip most of the extraneous planets and you're golden. Best of both worlds.

That part on level scaling was a bit confusing. It's not level-scaling in the sense that enemies scale to your level. What they did is scale up the exp you get so that it's easier to level up.

E-hug to you too brother. I just started this video but I wanted to say that I trust your judgment implicitly. My decision to pick up our copies of this trilogy will rely solely on what you have to say...no pressure. As it sits, I did break my one cardinal rule of never preordering a game again. The only reason I preordered our copies was that I was told the number of physical units are being released will be in small quantities. We (fiancee and I) never buy anything in the digital form if we can help it. For reference- If everything turns out okay I will be playing Mass Effect on the Xbox Series X while my fiancee will be on our PS5. I'm a huge Xbox guy and she is a PlayStation girl at heart. While we do love both equally we have our preferences.

I’m currently playing The Legendary edition due to STARFIELD being unplayable due to the constant crashing. On Xbox series. And do you know what? There’s no comparison. I’m not going back. I played Mass Effect on release 17 YEARS AGO. Loved it so much it was the first game I got all the achievements for. Had to play it through about 5 times to do it 😂 . Loved ME2 but for some reason never played ME3. So pretty excited for that.

I always turned off motion blur and film grain anyway so the contrast and lighting was different in my game compared to others, the new changes are closer to how I like it

I appreciate your overview so far! I am excited to buy the game, picking it up from a store in my neighborhood on Friday☺. Happy as I am, we need to hold the Bioware and EA accountable where they fell short. I like how you said there IS bugs. We'll need to call them out on that the most. Now, in all fifteen of my playthroughs, I ALWAYS customized my Shepards. If you've never customized your Shepards, you're missing out. I can never play an RPG without making each of my characters unique. Maybe someday I'll show my screenshots and change your mind. Of course I usually play female and female customization has always been better. But now it will be so much easier to customize males and females alike. I am going to have so much fun with the customizer. Looking forward to that the most😍. Looking forward to this game.😚

Saying that the Mako in the original game handled "pretty poorly" is like saying that the surface of the sun is "pretty warm." My biggest question: Did they make the companion AI in ME1 better? Because honestly, your companions were useless in the original version on any difficulty above Easy. They would immediately get killed and you'd wind up soloing most encounters while waiting for your Unity cooldown.
