TOM ! PSA to you it’s important please read, a little hack into psychology/sports psychology that I notice is affecting you massively. This is genuinely amazing advice not made up by me but top psychologists mentalists etc.. you told yourself at the end of one of the first games “dont mess up” , the last game you said “don’t start slow”.. if you go back and watch, you started playing worse in both of those scenarios, and those were the only 2 I caught without actively looking for it. When you are saying these things to yourself, your brain actually registers that you told yourself “mess up” and “start slow”.. so that idea sticks in your subconscious mind. The brain doesn’t compute the word “not” when we speak and think to ourselves. I guarantee if you begin to practice and focus on replacing those phrases with “start fast, close this out strong, I am focused, etc” you are going to start noticing a massive shift in those important moments. There is plenty of research, literature content out there about this and how to positively self talk.. this is all subconsciously based it has nothing to do with your will power or strength of mind. Change those words and consciously start replacing it with positive reinforcements :)
