I loved it when Boycott and Agnew would start talking if you left it idle at the end of each over, Agnew would start winding up Boycott and he's put him in his place. Also I agree, the general look and especially the shot animations are just better than anything that's come since, even in 25 years. The newer games just look too arcadey and fake, no of them have even come close to BLC 99

I remember playing this game. NYE 98. (I was about 8) We went to a neighbour's, and because they had one TV. They agreed that the kids could play games on it, to keep out the way.. Fast Forward about 3-4 hours into the evening/night. All the guys were circling round the tv, watching our group play the most intense game of cricket ever to have happened. Top notch memories with this game..

4 players vs couch co cop was 🔥 🔥 🔥. I played it on PC where there was only option for two but it was so much fun playing classic matches. I wish they can could at least remaster it with a couple of bowling actions and confidence meter. The players and everything unchanged.

Wow this brings back so many memories. I remember playing as Lara and I wanted to break his individual innings batting record. Took a long time but it was the best feeling when accomplished. The good old days.

Love this game. I remember reading in the Official Playstation magazine that they were going to release a version the following year that would feature county teams but then it just disappeared without a trace. Devastated by that cos i'd have loved to have played this with county teams. Also when you do nothing on the menu screen between overs you get some fun commentary chats between Agnew and Boycott.

I used to play as England and pick 10 batsmen and Phil Tuffnell. With Tuffnell you could bowl full tosses on middle stump and get lbw nearly every ball. Very rarely I used to get a bug where the commentators audio would play too fast and they sounded like chipmunks, anyone else get that?

One thing I notice about the Ps1 is that even though graphics are sketchy on a lot of games, it runs really smooth. Maybe not so much on the emu, but play this on console.. Looks good. I enjoyed EA Cricket 2002 also.. That was a good game, had some epic matches on that.

Man, that game was so good! I'm not even all that into cricket, but I picked this up second hand for about £2 many years ago and ended up playing the crap out of it! I was never that good at bowling (despite being a decent bowler in real life when I used to play cricket as a kid lol), but I loved batting on this game. Once you got into a groove it was so satisfying racking up a big score!

OMG my best mate and I played Shane Warne 99 so much back in the day. Our houses backed onto each other so we just opened the back gate, got the TV out into the back yard and plugged in the Playstation. We gamed from mid Saturday arvo into Sunday morning.

I loved Shane Warne cricket 99 when I was younger lmao, played it everyday and never got bored from it, the best thing about the game I played was the World Cup and played with Australia and the lower ranked nations were the most fun. Maybe a potential mini series with the World Cup 👀

Both are same games. It was released as Shane Warne 99 in Australia. Codies were perfect with their marketing. Later on, it was BLIC and Ricky Ponting 07

I remember getting 301 runs with Kallis & then getting caught out which prompted the standard wang the controller across the room moment! 🤣 I was trying to beat Lara’s run record which obviously got me pissed & then the commentator announced the next batsmen entering the crease was Kallis! 🤣 Never forget that moment as I declared around 1000 runs for 2 wickets & Kallis had 600+ runs himself! 🤣 The good old days 👍 Used to enjoy the beachball & every ball hit is a six cheat codes. I also remember watching an England match at Edgbaston & on the sly putting the cheat codes in the gaming room which had Brian Lara cricket on multiple screens & consoles! I thought I was so cool doing that at 13 🤣🤣🤣

The only things I didn't like about this game were while batting you couldn't choose front or back foot for your shots, and you couldn't charge the bowler.

BLC 99 was awesome, I played probably thousands of hours on it between 2000-2003. I don't think it's ever been surpassed by any cricket game since in 25 years, especially in the realism of the shot animations, and general playability. The Test Season going 7-8 years in the future was great. How can you play this on a laptop/PC you've got? I'm not an expert on this. How can you get copies that'll work with Windows 10/11?

If you wanted to "cheat" at this game you just gave them an inswinging yorker every ball. Also make the batsmen dive every time they run. Its saves you getting out.

If I remember correctly you could bowl a a spinner and aim the white box ( for where the ball was to pitch ) all the way up towards the umpires head but the ball would be bowled and if on target it would hit the wickets or get an lbw 🤘
