I just loved it! Tobacco subburst for shure is the one that looks like a guitar. I play the guitar so that's why I choose a violin with frets and 6 strings. I'm planning to fix my grandfather's violin...someday...and just because I use to watch your videos. Regards from Rio!

Thanks! And yes, the brown colors always look nice! A 6-string violin would be tuned FCGDAE (instead of EADGBE) so at least one string will be the same. 😉

That is such a cool violin and you both played beautifully!! 👏😄 looks pretty hard to play, but you did a great job! A blue, 5 string viper violin would be my go to, but I dont think I'm planning on getting one, for the same reason that you gave lol. Also, your hair looked great in this video 🙌

I guess that proves that fretted instruments are not easier because of the frets . I'm a electric bass player (fretted and fretless ) ,when I sometime play guitar I have to get used to not pulling the strings out of tune with too much finger pressure .

Yes, it really was cool! It really takes time to get used to it though, and the frets don't really make playing any easier. The "margin for error" is slightly bigger with frets, but it requires a different left hand approach. My conclusion was I'd rather have a violin without frets.

This video has a fun vibe =) I think the like the tabbaco or the lime green best. I already have one 5 stringed violin, and for the viper I would like the fretted one because I got none of those (a mando is notba violin). It depends on how easy those fretted violins are to play above 7th position. You are guys are so happy to live next. I love video game music too.

Oh my goodness, in a heartbeat I'd have a Viper! Blue burl, 4-string fretless, I'd get a new wah-wah, and find a band! That was a wonderful video and you both made it sound easy. Thank you for sharing that. (A friend calls my current electric a Queensryche violin because of the shape. It's awkward and heavy but has a nice sound. I just now live in a small town with no opportunities to play. In the city I was 60+ years old playing Velvet Underground and alternative originals, and loving it! "Yes" to a Viper!) Also I really enjoy your channel, and learning from you (vibrato challenge.)

You are very talented, charming & gorgeous... As a seasoned electric guitar player of many, many years, I would love to have a 6 string Viper, most likely in black (due to cost) with gold hardware and frets...Having 6 strings would allow much versatility in using several different alternate guitar tunings...Standard EADGBE...Drop D... DADGAD...Open E... Open G...Open C...etc. Of coarse it would necessitate changing string gauges and some tunings might work better than others....but what fun, and as a guitar player that uses many different effects pedals, Im already well acquainted in that area... Id love to plug it into my BOSS SY-300 guitar synth which does NOT require a hexaphonic pickup system like many of them... it would be plug & play...very cool for sure! With a 2 year waiting list for the build, I could get 2 years of violin practice under my belt to help with the transition....its quite a commitment and price expenditure ($4000) that I need to think carefully about.... but Im so very tempted... Maybe you should get that pink one without frets in a 4 string version?? 😜 Peace ✌🏻❤️

The viper violin makes a powerful sound, so I can see why it appeals to rock musicians. Personally, I prefer the sound of a traditional violin. That being said, I do like the colours being offered!

@@MarijkeViolin yeah Acoustic string instruments have somethething in its sound you cannot replicate with any type of pickup - amp - and speaker system ... As you said electrics a nice bonus though (or if you want to have effects and stuff) ... im more of a guitarist and my violin playing is very very bad ... still i got 2. (only one is a real violin) first one i bought as a kid is more like a wallhanger though not a real violin ... i mean you can kinda play it but it sounds terrible acousticly since its cheap chinese plywood... yeah i know .... I fell for that... just didnt scrap that thing yet coz i have the idea in my head to one day make it into a Electric violin , by opening it putting a block of wood in there to make it more mute (like a semi hollow electric guitar) and putting a small preamp with piezo pickup in there. Solid body electric violins like the viper actually gave me that idea to at least make SOMETHING out of my "playable wallhanger" :D as for the colors of the viper: Tobacco bust quilt, Blue Burl, Lime Green Burl and Magenta Burl are my favorites... although i guess i would be happy with the entire top row :D i just love the look of nicely figured maple :)

I’d love a Viper, but having seen the video on how they are made, I just can’t see how they cost that much ok that particular one alphas the Barbera pickup which is also expensive , but again looking at the patent for that I can’t why it costs so much. I’m probably going to end up with a 5 string NS Wav, or a Yamaha YEV105.

Hello. I used to play the violin as a child and I would like to return back to it. It has been 12 years since I played the violin for the last time. I am thinking about buying this Viper violin. I would like to have 5 string, but I am thinking about fretted one. What is your opinion on frets? Could you see all frets well while playing the violin? Is it worth it? I play the guitar and on the guitar its not that hard to see each position of hand easily. Is it anyways again more about muscle memory?

I would think frets would make playing a violin much easier - as in, impossible to miss a note. Also, five strings make so much sense. Having a middle string at the highest point seems natural.
@honeybloom8533
@honeybloom8533 Жыл бұрын
It's definitely still possible. When the strings get tuned they stretch and as they move the note will be slightly off when you play the fret. Frets on the violin and same goes for stickers found on traditional string instruments for beginners are there to let them know of the general area. But I think the frets are there to also make the violin more guitar-y if that makes sense
@SkepticalLlama
@SkepticalLlama Жыл бұрын
Wait, what? The note will not be off when tuned, at all. Only if intonation is not set accurately at the bridge, or the strings are old and sounding false.

With frets you can't use pythagorean tuning, one of the great advantages of a violin is that it doesn't have frets. With frets you are stuck with equal temperament tuning, why not just buy a mandolin .

Funny enough, the frets on this violin aren't meant as training wheels, but to be able to play in different ways (although they help a bit with intonation). But I found the frets to be in way and slightly annoying. If I ever buy a Viper, I would go fretless.

It is a great violin. To be conservative is ok but being a nun isn't for everyone, and progress is an eye opening experience, new blood, new oxygen. It's not a traditional violen it's a progression in time, it's better than or compatible to the model A violin s. So carbon fiber looks alike aren't real enough.
