@@dqitwithbrad many developers especially for big games under go crunch and it is the worst thing for a dev because you are working endless hours making sure every little things works and adding new things. gta online was a new technology for them so it would have been a pain for the devs to work on it and rockstar were known for impossible crunch and harsh and toxic work envirornments until RDR2 and is one of the reasons GTA 6 has taken so long because they have been working on it

Rockstar could hypothetically make a 'Gang Life' update where they add new missions with lamar and gerald, add al carter back as someone more than the guy who messages you about his crystal, make the gangs a bigger part of the game, reintroduce the gang joining and calling for backup features and maybe make a new business or property to go with it. Hey, they'd have to royally fuck this up to make it a worse update than Mercaneries

AFAIK the games are peer to peer, may have caused bugginess for sure which is why the didn't implement it, but I think possibly they may have been planning some sort of gang life DLC and decided to withold the features until then.

most of these features were cut at launch then reintroduced in game updates. apparently they were meant to be part of the game at launch but they didn't finish them for some reason. this includes the interaction menu, heists, and other things. btw, that menu when you create your characters, that was there at launch, i remember using it to create my character, it was changed on the PS4/XB1 version

7:03 theres actually a glitch that happens sometimes in the game where your phone will make these sounds, in the current gen version of the game, usually it happens whenever you open your phone as soon as you get a notification

I had a 360 the framerate was like 20-30 fps now playing on pc 60-144 fps But the map was nicer i didn't know if online was avaiable i was progressing through story mode and finished it so i did all the missions so they popped up again the strangers and freaks i thought the online character was a character to be unlocked in story mode good old days

So, the reason I think the gang backup feature was removed is because it might be a bit hard to balance (tho that shouldn't be a big problem) and because in a fight you wouldn't pull out your phone, and call someone, wait for them to pick up, choose what you want, and wait for the backup to arrive. At least snacks and armor required no real waiting, but even those got changed like last year.

The notification for starting heists shows that they planned for the dlc way before the game was even released. Fun fact: If you get a notification with your phone up in modern gta you will get the old phone sound.

6:55 you can actually get that phone sound if you get an email (ingame obviously) and your phone is open. Idk why it happens but its happened to me many times, and to figure out it was meant to be the original phone sound is pretty interesting

You can get the Beta phone sounds in the current version of the game, you need to have your phone out and receive a message or an email. Idk why but the notification will change the sounds of your phone to the Beta ones, until you shut your phone.

The first thing that came to mind about the three gangs feature being left out was the finale in one of The Dre Contract mission. There's the mission where The Families and The Ballas help you take on the Vagos. I'm assuming that's how they wanted that feature to work. There's actually a few missions that has it worked into (The Agency's Security Contract: Rescue Operations has people fighting along side of you while you rescue the client). It's almost like they scraped it for all these future potential DLC's. It would be nice to have them in the game after you've completed a mission or something like that, but lets be real. It's Rockstar.

Seriously though, even in the Beta version, they had notifications sounds for heists, which didn't exist even upon release. They had the Diamond Casino ready for future DLC. The Diamond Casino was always in the game, but didn't open until 2019.

Although I would like if there were 6-person lobby gang war servers where you were one of 6 gangs, you could call backups, had to challenge other gangs for sell businesses other than now where everyone doing the same jobs from the same locations.

Back in the day on beta PS3 was amazing fun. Even with all the content being cut for later date use, like currently. I remember many things that are just now being added back in. Back then, we used to have precision with aiming sticky bombs at cars at high speed and still blowing em up. Honestly I miss those days, but also, I miss the lack of inflation that happened after so many hack lobbies destroyed the currency in game.

Remember how bugged it was though? Like the animation getting stuck while you're trying to jack a car, the NPC drives off and you're just stuck there in that pose, or sometimes randomly dying when you jacked a car. I remember one time, I jacked a car from the passenger side, but instead of kicking the NPC out, my character just sat in the passenger seat and let the NPC drive him around lol. There was all sorts of bizarre bugs in the early days of GTA Online.

I believe Al Carter is one of those guys who you find a car with a shipment of drugs in the back and have to return it for him. Shame he's not a contact like in this beta. Id love to have a contact in each of the gangs like this, i mean we have Merryweather and look at the amount of Merryweather soldiers we've killed. Surely The Lost would be the same considering theyre both the most killed gang members by players due to all the missions. Id love an update about gangs, choosing the gang you want to join and the story would play out differently with the different gangs you choose. But if it was a set story it would be families, considering all the work youve done with Lamar, Gerald and the guy from the Contracts update, Vaughn? Victor? Cant remember his name. But adding him, Lamar and Gerald would be great. It'd also bring more lore to the gangs considering they weren't really a factor in story besides G, Lamar Franklin and Stretch and that they're just guys that we dont know anything about.

It would've been cool if we got to pick which gang we wanted our character to be in and then have a character in each gang with different online story missions. And then even get recruited and initiated by different gangs. Gang features were way better in San Andreas. I think in gta6 we'll be able to recruit NPCs to ride with us.

Those seem like great ideas but imagine if back them when the online player max was 16 and everyone could potentially call 3 gang members and that would make it 64 characters. I can only imagine how much worse the lag and crashing would be given that sometimes it even lags now at a max of 30 players 2 consoles later. Now try to image 120 characters with the higher player max. Maybe they can add it to GTA 6 if that ever comes out.
