The beam type depends on RPM: 0-5 = Radio wave = Works for long distances, transfers very little SU (128 blocks range) 6-15 = Microwave = Nothing special (cooking food is not yet implemented) 16-63 = Visible light = You can see it, colorable with stained glass 64-256 = Gamma ray = Goes through mobs, deals damage (64 blocks range) The optical sensor is also really cool for door activation and stuff

In case you thought it's a joke, I checked the source code and there is a reference to microwaves cooking food. Not yet implemented, but might be added later. Configs are most likely coming in the next update and are the only addition I really need.

The Create Optical polarization refers to how light works in real life. Not all photons work the same because they have a spin and orientation. A Horizontal Filter blocks out all vertical beams but only half of diagonal beams

Create: Optical is better if you know light physics. Brief rundown, light waves are oriented in all sorts of ways (random) normally. Polarized light filters out all light that isnt a specific direction, so you get light waves that all share the same direction (like looking at slice of a 3D object). Using other polarization, you can let it through (if it shares the same direction) or cancel the light out (if you have a perpendicular direction). Looking up more about light makes the mod much cooler

First time ever seeing it and only casual woth light physics irl, My best guess is it's like a frequency filter for Redstone links, random is a all filter and if any beam crosses it the Random one takes priority and isn't broken, but if you cross beams of certain directions they can pass each other without interruptions

optical's lasers put out different kinds of light at different speeds. low speeds put out microwaves, medium speeds put out visible light, and high speeds put out gamma rays (which do damage)

I played with the crate Optical mod if you want to see the laser you have to play around with the speed and the cool part of this month is the the fact that it's radioactive so if you go very fast you can't see the laser anymore put the laser can damage you turn survivor mode if the speed or rotations to Max and you walk through or where it is the lasers point hamster damage in you half a heart per second it's a real cool mod and I actually used it how to make a invisible trip wire hook using that weird light bulb

Am I the only one who thinks that the Cola addon mod should add Mentos so you can make bottle rockets to function like fireworks for flying? No? Just me? Okay cool. Additionally/optionally, if you eat a mentos while the cola effect is active you take some small rapid damage and spew foam from your mouth, obscuring your view. But if you have the resistance buff enabled when the initial combo effect activates, you instead let out a burp so loud it shakes your POV instead of doing the foam thing. You still take damage though. A burp that loud is going to shred your throat.
