Have you ever considered doing a hardcore series in a modded world? I have started to host a server with my friends and built what I call a 'New Vanilla' mod pack for it. The mods change pretty much all vanilla structures (villages, fortresses, ocean monument, etc.). Some add biomes, new structures or biome specific creepers. the nether and end are completely different. New weapons, blocks, tools, decoration items, enchants. It's a really fun experience especially for exploring and building. It could be a cool change up once you eventually die from a creeper in this series.
