Then I MET MY EX…. A bu polar goth “pagan witch” It sure was an exciting relationship…. But BOY was it damaging to both of us… I’m slowly getting closer to Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Andrew has helped move me. I’ve just ALWYAS seen destruction, decrepit and evil surrounding me and everyone and when I was younger I couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I understand. Life on earth IS SUFFERING and it needs to be in order to fulfill our purpose. Which is to overcome suffering and reject the evil that rules mortal earth. This IS Satans kingdom… I like Andrew’s logical approach and broad general knowledge of history and how things just are. And ALWAYS will be.

And, yes, I know that there's, like, y'know... there's, like, a lot of pablum to unpack here, right, but I do feel the need to explicitly point out that the predominant caveat in this particular instance, is really the _assumption_ that it's completely justifiable to say that I don't _personally_ believe that this kind of neurolinguistic artifice would conflict with the majority of the Greek cosmological pantheon in any substantial, coherent _morphological_ way, right. Because it probably does, right? But that's honestly kind of immaterial to my specific argument here, right... at least in the _literal_ phonemic sense of idealized, ephemeral Gaussian Nash equilibrium realpolitik apostate theology insofar as it applies to the juxtaposition of Euler's nontrivial utilitarian thermodynamics with Baudrillardian subdural hematoma semiotics, right? I mean, I think that's basically, like, self-evident at this point, right.

@googleshill93436 ай бұрын
@@jarlwilliam9932 Holmgang just meant that you pissed someone off and they want to save face by beating your ass. Think of duels in the wild west, you insult someone's honor they're gonna want to fight you or kill you. If homosexuality was a crime you were being convicted of and there was some serious question as to whether you partake in it they would take it to the Thing and determine your fate and if found guilty you would be thrown in a bog. Might makes right has never been a moral prescriptive of pagan societies.
@jarlwilliam99326 ай бұрын
@@googleshill9343 I know what holmgang was, a fancy way of dueling to the death, and yes it was a thing in pagan societies hence why the dude with the most soldiers almost always got his way over people who didn’t have any. Pagan society was incredibly violent with late antiquity Scandinavia having a massive amount of family feuds. Even at a thing the accused could call the accuser out in single combat and if he won then it was the will of the gods, if you accused someone of being an ergo then they could call you out for holmgang or kill you on the spot. Pagan society was all about honor and if you called someone’s honor into question and they didn’t kill you, they were seen as weak, not a good thing at all in Norse pagan society.
@googleshill93436 ай бұрын
@@jarlwilliam9932 Might is right is a descriptive reality, it was never a moral argument. The guy with the most soldiers is going to be "right" no matter what society you find yourself in. If you are accused of a crime and you're at the Thing that's basically you being in court, you can't challenge a man to a duel because you feel your honor is slighted if he calls you a murderer for example, same with being gay. Plus Thing assemblies were held on barrows and were considered sacred so you're not gonna have a guy killing another there in the middle of it lol. You have to keep in mind Germanic pagan society's honor culture was basically the same as any honor culture anywhere else. If you get disrespected obviously you're gonna retaliate but a Thing assembly is something you're gonna respect because it's the basis for your community. If you want to duel the guy after you're found innocent you could do that, or if there was no basis for the accusation at all and the accuser was just using it as an insult (in which case you wouldn't be taken to the Thing).

I love how he's saying "right" a million times as if he's holding a toddler's hand through a perilous path. For a "hard polytheist" it's very hard to get a straight answer out of him regarding the multiple gods he supposedly believe in.

How hubris of folks to say and think “oh I love this deity but this one eeeeehhh not so much” 😂 Pea Brains

That guy is not a good representative of Norse paganism. There’s far better debaters with much more knowledge

Why is it so hard for people who, publicly, open up discussion of a believe system or idea. Then, meet pushback and are unable to respond to just say, "Hmm, I hadn't thought of this or that scenario. I need to study some more."

If you really want a debate/discussion with a real pagan try Survive the Jive. I had to turn off after the Loki horse grape story. Didn't even mention that it was a punishment from the other Gods. Guy is clueless.

That would actually be a very interesting conversation to listen to.

There really does need to be more pagan apologists. You have idiots like this guy that try to be the definitive voice on the matter and he doesn't understand anything lol. Like the whole Greek Gods vs Norse Gods angle wouldn't have worked at all if someone knowledgeable about the metaphysics was in the debate.
