Tom I used to work at currys. If it's bang on 600 the machine has no where to move when it's spinning and will probably damage the unit or wall. You need the space round it. Take the skirting board off and get a 600mm wide cause others won't fit. You also need the depth mate cause the pipes eat your depth space

WASHER/DRYER IDEA! Since you’re stacking them anyway, why not build a little platform the height of the skirting so that they sit just above it, no need to cut skirting or the worktop 🎉

Washer will probably slide below the overhang of the worktop. Don’t rush into cutting the end off your worktop

Have a drawer underneath so you can put your basket in the drawer and load up the washing/dryer

Having a workspace setup for Alfie in the future is an adorable idea but what you could do in the meantime is let Lydia maybe have a setup there for when she does her reel & maybe any future content she makes it doesn’t have to be anything crazy could literally just be a desk where she can put her laptop down or iPad

So if your gettiing a seperate washer/dryer and stacking the washing machine should fit below then countertop snug in without taking the skirting off and im pretty sure you can get a seperator to put between the washer and dryer. if not id say cut the edge of the worktop back and move the laminte edging or buy an edge trim.

TOM!!!! easy fix for the washing machine and tumble dryer situation, the units along the fridge freezer side can be reduced in depth if needed you just reduce the service gap and reduce the depth of the worktop above! you need a minimum 600mm space for a washing machine, but 610mm is better for wiggle room and easier to open detergent drawers. ALSO certain brands you can buy a stacking kit that has a pull out shelf function that's what i recommend.

Tom here is an idea. For the washer and dryer, get a U-Shaped unit made (upside down) the height of a laundry basket. Then you would have gone above the skirting, giving you that extra 10mm or whatever it is and you will have a home for a basket which then you can easily just pull it out when you are emptying the machines and simply drop it in. I don't know the logistics of it or if that unit will carry the weight of 2 machines but might be a good idea to try. Then you wont have to cut anything maybe?
