I've had my RD-2000 over a year and I could not be happier with it. I just updated it with the German Concert add-on even having plenty of piano VSTs including the ones you mentioned. It's outstanding and brings the piano (itself) up to where it needs to be and beyond. You may know, but the RD-2000 is an excellent MIDI controller while in the DAW. I do not know why, but it seems people over look that. Be sure to pick up the Roland RPU-3 triple pedal. I just got that, and wondered why I did not get it right out of the gate. It makes a world a difference and designed for the machine. Enjoy the journey my friend.

Is there a big difference between the original sound of RD2000 and the sound of German piano?🤔
@toddjbradshaw
@toddjbradshaw Жыл бұрын
@@sale6257 I could easily see someone saying "no" there is not a big difference. In my opinion, there are several of the reviews seem to agree there is a huge difference. It can be difficult to hear it on a video review though I think. The RD-2000 has been critized for it's original piano sounds being dated, while I tend to agree I was still very happy with them and I love it. I think it comes down to the trained, and untrained ear and maybe somewhere I am inbetween. I have so much respect for people who are gifted and can hear details that many of us cannot. It's a skill to be developed. Sometimes it's just a gift. In closing, my opinion was the German piano upgrade had more subtle details that one really has to experience in person when comparing apples to oranges. I would also note the feel of it is much more natural and reflective by touch by velocity and velvet touch. While I agree with the poster who said they are happy with VSTs like Keyscape, Pianotec there is something to be said here about the latency factor that can surface under certain CPU strains. Having that kind of quality in the hardware itself made that concern dissapear. Overall I have no regrets with the upgrade. Hope this helps.

I just bought a used RD2000, and I didn't know about Zenology !!! That's great ! I don't mind the on board pianos so far, although I only spent an hour or so on it. I want to update it and get the German piano, but hopefully I'll just be satisfied with what it has for what I want to do. Thanks for the video !!! :-)

I've owned the RD-2000 since before Covid. I've just never really connected to it. I don't know why, and I hear many others feel the same way, but there is just something off. I'll leave it in my practice room going forward. I just bought the StudioLogic NUMA X Piano GT, and WOW! Now THAT'S a piano I immediately loved, and will use for gigging.

Way to go teacher! God bless you For me S90ES / S90XS will pass story as the most aesthetic keyboard Yamaha had produced, none of the new line has those great looks. And jubilate it that way is also so cool. Nobody asked but for me the MODX8 was the best investing I've made with a keyboard, this will be my kbd for sooooo long

Great choice bro, I’ve owned the RD2000 for several months and love it. I felt that it had to be the truth if Elton John plays it. The RD has more than enough Rhodes options for even the most discriminating player. The default Stage Grand is not my favorite acoustic piano patch. I lean more toward some of the others. It has nice selection of strings, the organs are ok, but being a Hammond owner, I’ll never use them. You have a decent variety of Bass and Synth options as well. The RD has a great action and is extremely playable. I’m sure you’ll love it!

Love, love, LOVE my RD-2000! I play in a smooth jazz / R&B band as well as a 80's covers / dance band. I can cover just about any sound you can imagine, and I haven't even added Keyscape, or Pianoteq and others via my iPad, yet!

I feel like this is about the only action that is as responsive as my grand piano. That does not mean it feels like a real piano. It feels nothing like my real grand. However, playing pp on a pia o can be challenging because sometimes you play too soft and nothing comes out lol. I feel that the pha50 mimics that dynamic of a piano quite accurately.

Love the control that the RD-2000 gives you, you have 8(9?)x2 MIDI channels, so you can trigger external and if'd you like, internal sounds at the same time, so you can imagine the amount of layering you can do here. I just feel Roland is a bit stagnant in terms creating new stuff in the keyboard space at least. Actually curious as to why you didn't go the YC/CP/CK or a used Montage/MODX?

MODX is the next gen there. Question MOTIF users, can I send separate MIDI Ch through the motif, check this out: I want to use through ch1 from Performance mode the signal to the keyscape, but I wanna keep using a split keyboard on other channels so I can do bass on Ch4 with the Passive patch and TASTY pianos with keyscape on Ch1. Something the MODX can do no sweat but church has a Motif XF

@@giquo imo the yc beats nord at ist own game, bc its easier to use and has equally good or better sounds (in you can live without the full synth of the stage), its lighter (7kg for my yc61) and has usb audio. The weighted yc73&88 also have xlr outputs.

Did I hear right? Why would you spend on the RD2000 and then use Keyscape?? Don't get me wrong, Keyscape is good, but you could just get a quality midi keyboard to do the same. Are the RD piano sounds not great? Just interested to know.

Believe it or not, many people buy the rd-2000 for its legenday keybed which is tailored to use with vst libraries. Plus you can play your vsts directly into the rd-2000 without the need of a soundcard. You can even layer your vst with the rd-2000 internal sounds in a seamless fashion.

@@scarsstitches636Ive not had a chance to try a pha50 keybed. Some dont like it, say it has a soft bed when the key is pressed down rather than very firm on other actions. How would you compare it to others?

@@scarsstitches636No, unfortunately there are no music shops left open where I live. I would have to travel miles to test out a keyboard. I currently have a casio px s3000. The action feels pretty good but I have nothing to compare. The onboard piano is poor in my opinion, so I use it as a midi keyboard.

@@jonos138 if the distance is acceptable to drive by car, I say it's worth it. You need to test those Roland actions, they're night and day compared to the fraud (short pivot) PXS-3000 action. I drove hours to test different brands and actions. It's part of the process. I say drive and test as many as you can....
