That was TOO COOL! I had an opportunity to do the same thing about a year ago. A good friend of mine had a whole estate collection given to him and he called me to come pick what I wanted....so I did. I ended up with about 400 pieces of cars, locos, books, etc... to go along with my collection. Tell Dave I do Rock Island too but it is in HO....

so you cherry picked 400 pieces? Thats a lot of cherries :-)

Enjoyed your video. I would have too, but I think I would just have tasted with my tongue. I can relate a bit. I recently viewed a widow's husbands' collection of a former (low budget) museum/attraction in the town I live in. Predominately S with American Flyer but had a little of all scales. I thought to help her to connect with an option to sell or find new homes but find little local interest and it's all just too overwhelming for me to think about. I would love to check out every piece that is in that collection, but it would just turn into me caring and worrying about the future of every piece.

I would never be able to buy a collection directly from a widow. To hard to offer a low ball to a Gal that just lost the love of her life.

I don't think I've ever seen that much HO rolling stock in one place before. What a nice haul. I've been working on scratch building a barn in O scale. It's almost finished, still have to install my beer can corrugated steel roof & weather the roof. Barn was weathered as I built it by using an emery board and sanding the faces of each board before installing. Cheers from eastern TN

That steam engine you found two hours in, looks like it's either a Tri Ang, or a Hornby, Caledonia single. A British passenger locomotive from the late 1800's. Did you find the tender to go with it? I ask because I think it was a tender drive, similar to the Tyco Chattanooga, but a good deal better quality. Good luck with the cleaning and sales, as it looks like a great haul. BTW as a kid I used to throw the whole wax bottle in my mouth, and chew like gum, and the juice made the wax taste better. Also you'd get all the juice out ,and not waste any flavoring.

Hi, that blue loco is a Triang/Hornby Caledonian Single, I have one c/w tender. It has magnahedion (a magnet) which can be removed. Otherwise it would hesitate going through points and rocks a bit because it is not balanced front to back. Clean it up and if you had the trailer you might get up to $100 if it was in very good condition

A massive estate? I am foaming at the mouth, and am also reminded of one a co-worker's in-law left behind. It was a massive collection of O-scale, probably approaching a thousand pieces of locomotives and rolling stock. Easy six figures worth of stuff. OMG! What a collection of railcars! And you bought ‘em all! So now yer gonna be a traveling HO model train hobby shop! What a deal. What a concept. You could set up a schedule and travel the northern Great Plains buying, selling and repairing HO trains during the pleasant months. No need to have a fixed “brick and mortar” location if you enjoy traveling. And I don’t know about model train swap shows in your area, but if you had the notion you could schedule stops at them as well. Maybe Missus Ron would like to travel along with you and help out or see the sights. Kinda wish I could help you out with all those railcars but my ‘Road is pretty much established with motive power, rolling stock, non-revenue equipment, and passenger equipment. I just have no need for more equipment than I already have for my (imaginary) region of the country and on-line customers. But best wishes to you and your future endeavors!

Yup, 100%! I’m not old enough to have seen the Rock in person but ever since I was a kid looking at pictures of them in books, I was mesmerized. They looks so elegant and sleek, hard to believe I read that their service was considered more blue color and not high end luxury., At least that’s what I read anyways.

@@danhoyland142 from what I understood, yes, and I was barely old enough to remember seeing any of it run and it's been years since I've been back to the city. But man they have some cool stuff and I'm looking and hoping for one for my birthday, the RI Aerotrain.

Has local Dave thought about a career in radio? He’s got the voice for it lol. Looks like he’s got a great O gauge collection going on and you definitely should go check his layout out when he gets one up. Great looking collection of HO you guys came to an agreement on. While I’m not really into HO myself, I do enjoy your videos and I’ve learned a thing or two about the smaller scales since. Oh and yes I’m a 33%er.

Not only have I thought about it. I actually did a VoiceOver class years ago, but unfortunately, unless you really knows somebody...........it's a hard field to get into from what I found. Just waiting to be discovered..lol

Let us know if or when you put things up for sale on the ole eBay, many of us out here will help you out by purchasing train items from you. You did it once before I know of. Your a busy dude, but hey as long as it makes a person happy or a little scratch, what the heck eh. Nice show Ron...

Thats crazy that you have a old tour bus like that! You should do a DJ scene for an intro sometime. That'll be a great attention grabber haha. Good luck with your many ventures!

At 2:39, that is a Triang-Hornby, Caledonian Railway, 4-4-2, no.123. Catalogue number, R.553. Designed by Neilson and Drummond in 1886, it is preserved at the Glasgow museum of transport. The model should have a small, 6 wheel tender and has been released in Caly blue, L.M.S. red and L.M.S. unlined black. Loco driven with the Mk.5 XT60 type motor. What a haul! Should keep you out of trouble....Why isn't Local Dave doing voice-over work, locally to start, then, maybe, National Dave!
