I think the 4k system power drops are due to the Gpu tripping the ocp on your power supply. Although it has enough power for the average power draw, spikes and nasty transients can drastically change the current draw resulting in PSU ocp protection kicking in.

@dawid you need to consider that wattage output is not the same as the wattage draw from the wall. It will draw more watts from the wall than give your devices. If the manufacturer is saying 500w and they mean power draw from the wall then you're screwed. Also power supplies don't run very efficiently at 100%.

That recommended 750W has to take into account all the trashy power supplies out there. A decent 500W PSU should work. CWT(the company that made this psu) is a OEM that makes PSUs to order. In general they make pretty decent stuff, though they can also make trash. As for the specific PSU in that system: that seems to be an older model. Low efficiency and not all power is available on the 12v rail(so no dc-dc). That means it's a budget model that might have issues with some transient loads. Before watching the video, I'd guess it will work properly. It might however crash in niche situations. Now let's see what actually happens.
@hjge10123 жыл бұрын
Guess I was about right. Though the crashes could be due to something else as well I guess.
