Funny, we both have french names, I just bought this exact guitar coming tomorrow, I have a 66 neck (although musicmaster II) that I was planning on putting on and the reason why I got to your vid was because I typed "Q Pickups Mustang" in youtube in the event that I hate the pickups :) I don't wear cardigans, just so you know :)

I got a vintera mustang. Its pickups have kinda a more quiet and almost acoustic tone. My jaguar on the other hand is more snappy feeling if that makes any sense. I actually was so sure I'd be routing humbuckers into my jag when I got it. My first was a Squier classic vibe and I loved the tone so much I decided it shall stay. The second one I got was an MIJ (block inlays with binding...drool). I've heard sometimes the MIJ ones have pickups that feel rather lacking. The mij still snaps. Even better than the first one. Truly one of the best surf sounds in my book. The only one better is the jazzmaster in my opinion. And maybe p-rails. And the SD quarter pound.... there are a few that are probably better.

Did you add a different tremolo arm to your Mustang, or bend the existing one into a better shape? It looks a lot more usable than mine!

No. It’s just a vintage unit. Did you try to put some loctite on the screw that hold the bar?

@@teensupertiger Thanks for replying! Keeping the arm in position isn't the issue. The problem is that my arm is tilted away from the guitar at a fairly wide angle. I realise now that it is because the cigar is low, and thus tilted back, which affects the angle of the arm. If I want to keep the cigar low (to help with tuning stability) it looks like I will need to bend the arm.

@@uncouthregions m’y cigar tube is kind of equilibrate. It makes a 90 angle. What model is your mustang ?

@@teensupertiger it's a Classic Vibe. I'm in the process of setting it up and adding some upgrades. I've tried different spring tensions, cigar height, etc. Ultimately, when the action and tension are good, the cigar is tilted back, and the arm is at an awkward angle. I will perhaps try to bend the arm to compensate. Thanks for the reply (btw Instagram just recommend your account to me!)

stays in tune very well.. is the bridge locked down stable or does it move back and forth... whats your sectret to keepingit in tune... and what diffeence do you hear in the pickups now compared to the old ones.. thanks

the secret is the height of the cigar tube, you need to equilibrate it. (plus a well cut nut). I gain some brightness and punch with the new pickups.

@@meanwhileinespoo1265 perpendicular. When you tight the tube goes back, when you release it goes front, I manage to put just in the middle. And lubricate the posts of the tube. Check puisheen, he has made a nice video about it yesterday.

hello Sébastien, je viens de commander ces micros pour ma Mustang signature Ben Guibbard, pas super fan du micro chevalet donc je me lance et change le tout. Ca m'évitera aussi de revendre et racheter une autre gratte, je trouve ces Q pickups incroyables ! En revanche, impossible de les avoir en hors phase je n'ai aucun selecteur sur le haut de la gratte, si ce n'est pas un souci selon toi ?

T’en cables un en inversant la masse et le chaud. Par contre je te recommande plutôt FBS pickups. Un français, tu peux lui dire ce que tu veux exactement et il est pas cher.

What pot value are you using? Stay the same with 250K? I just got 500k for mine, waiting for the gold anodized guard to come for it (gonna be killer on a CAR mustang) so I can get it together.

Yes they don’t have claws. But I did the same thing a long time ago with a fender avri62 jaguar pickup into a Musicmaster. I removed the claws quite easily.
