I might do this and use an emulator like QEMU to turn my switch into sorta a windows pocket PC... But ubuntu looks great on this thing so I will maybe try that, but probably not

the reason Minecraft didn't worked is because you downloaded thr wrong version of it. i reccomend using multimc and adoptium temurin java (the real peoblem is that it's amd architecture and switch uses arm i guess so i guess official minecraft launcher doesn't support it)

5:16 to answer your question. in short its cool math games. that is the entire issue. some if not most of the resources are going towards the ads in the corners. also they put run 2 back on cool math... huh. but i would sugest getting flashpoint launcher (im not sure it can run on Linux) but it has the full verson of run 2 which includes a level editor and runs WAY better then on cool math. or you couldve just full screened but it wouldnt help much.

It’s ram. The switch has only 3GB of ram. A few years ago i actually managed to get steam to run on the switch inside of Linux. It was actually halarious and i was able to download games. But i could not launch them.

You should try Prism Launcher instead of the actual Minecraft launcher. The official Minecraft launcher for Linux is not compiled for ARM-based devices. The Nvidia Tegra chip that powers the switch is built on ARM, which means it won't be able to run AMD64 programs (without translation) Prism launcher on the other hand has a native ARM build. And Java can already run Natively on ARM due it itself basically spawning a small computer inside whatever it's running on just to run Java code (also known as a VM). Recent versions of PrismLauncher also have the ability to manage and install Java for you, though it's not fully supported on all flavors of Linux so your mileage may vary on that. Hope this helps 🖤

Bro. You woul've gotten Minecraft to work (likely) if you followed the instructions in the error. It literally told you what to do to potentially fix the issue. The game should run on ARM. You couldnt run Minecraft Java because the normal launcher is made for x86 computers. The swich is arm so it doesn't work. Prism launcher supports arm tho.

I don’t have a tutorial but I use hekate to choose what I boot into. you can click launch to choose between emunand, sysnand, and stock switch, or click more configs to choose between Linux and android (those options are only available if you install Linux/android)
