Fun fact: my Dad had cattle and hogs on our farm when I was younger! These farmers really take great care of their animals. I'm always impressed whenever I get a chance to tour a livestock farm. Have you ever visited one? Maybe you live on one?

@@tylervalentine6401 Same here. I appreciate the dedication both young men have to farming and a wholesome family life. I grew up in farming until parents sold it. I am impressed by the amount of modern changes that are part of today’s agriculture. I am very senior now and have mixed emotions. Sometimes I feel like I miss it and then I think of the amount of work especially in the winter months back in Western New York State.

After our dairy farm began using individual outdoor shelters, not only were the calves healthier and happier, but after growing up with humans as well as their neighbourhood calves, they became more relaxed and friendlier cows. They were more likely to take off your hat or play with your coat, than kick you.

I worked a ranch in SD. We had kids out every week. We offered anyone to try. They told them “we don’t have a glove for you”. A couple of kids agreed. (We found extra shoulder length gloves) Next try turning a calf in the cow, then pulling it.

Family member works on the biggest dairy property in the southern hemisphere (by head milked). Been lucky to get a tour, and it looks remarkably like comparable farms in America. Should, they send people to conventions in USA every year and bring back some form of new tech stuff. Meet a guy who’s job is to tour around big dairies artificially impregnated cows. Less fuss than then the natural way. Reckons he’s got the soft hands in the world😀.

I follow Tom Pemberton's dairy utube as well. This was extremely interesting, the vet was able to easily explain what is actually a very complicated specialized industry. Much appreciated, will watch it again.

Been in a small milking parlor for 120 head. To a 'huge' one like this for 1500 head. When they 'wash' out the large one. You better be out of the way. Either up on the fence or across the fence. Sadly the small farm / barn setup is gone. The new owners went to grain only. Barn is falling in, sad to see a 1885 barn in that shape. Hope the crew / family and you are doing well. Take care

It's neat to see other operations, and this was a perfect example of some of the things that happen in the background that most people are totally unaware of. Seeing the milking process brings back memories of my grandfather milking their cows and then going into the cream shed and separating the curd to make cheese and milk - I can still recall the very distinct smell of the room all these years later.
