Just letting you watchers know that what you witnessed was DF completing the *intro/tutorial*, not beating the game (this is stated more clearly in the most recent ver of the game). There's LOADS more to it than just sitting still in the center, many turrets and perks will change gameplay drastically.

I'm pretty certain that if you remove a microbe from the pool with that mutation, the shop no longer sells items of that type.
