@@izsan9070 There’s a North Korean defector called Yeomi Park who’s written and talked extensively about her experiences growing up in NK. Pretty horrific stuff - horrendous poverty, starvation so bad they lived on not much more than cabbages and insects, the constant threat of imprisonment/torture/death penalty for any petty wrongdoing against the state, etc. And some acts against the state are punished along generation lines, so people get sent to concentration camps where they’ll never leave, and where their kids and grandkids will be born into. These people are considered subhuman and aren’t even allowed to look the guards in the eye or they’ll be shot. It’s horrific. She has a KZbin channel if you’re interested. It’s disturbing but it truly makes you appreciate how good we have it in the democratic west.
