This was actually very, very, cool. Gave such a new meaning to the last line "..Any way the wind blows." Perfect.

iQuad has been together since April of 2006 and three of the pilots in this video are from that early core group... Now, three of the pilots have less than 2 years with us. This actual routine to Bohemian Rhapsody was created in 17 hours (over a single weekend) earlier this year... The team NEVER meets to practice, we just meet up at the shows (15-20 per year worldwide) and throw down with the routines we've memorized. :) You can find KZbin videos of us flying to some other favorites. :)

Man, your team is incredibly talented! I very much enjoyed this, never seen a kite show before.

Bloody impressive. I don't care what you do for a hobby, as long as you enjoy it... glad you get enjoyment from something so impressive.

I don't see why this is so impressive. You can see the strings the entire time.

For those who are scratching their heads, the kites that they are flying in the video are quad line kites known as Revolution Kites aka(Rev's). They are flown with 4 lines that are connected to 2 handles. The flyer can control the speed and direction of the kite by using the handles to change the pitch of the kite itself. The lines don't get tangled because they are braided really smooth and slide against each other without causing too much friction.

Wow!!!! I've never even known such kite dancing existed - I had to wait until I could see well enough to type - too busy wiping tears of amazement away ;-) Kudos!!! Hopefully next time the sound track can be as magnificent as the flying - the bass was rough, but it wasn't enough to keep me from watching every moment ;-)

I've never seen this before. I enjoyed watching it immensely. Thank you.

If you watch the choreography closely, you'll see them wrap a few time and time in the course of the next moves unwrap. It's very carefully planned so that they don't wrap each others lines more than a couple of times. They are probably flying using high-quality Spectra lines which are very slick and are quite responsive with 10 or 20 individual wraps (spins, etc).

It will be also interesting to have a view on the "other wires side" of the kite. The pilots seems to be very, very skilled

Amazing routine. THIS is why I fly dual line. I hope to one day fly quad this way.

I'm pretty sure this same group performs at the kite fest on South Padre Island, TX. Their festival, which is free, is usually the first weekend in February. Come on down!
@PowerheadProductions12 жыл бұрын
They do at times, but the strings are slick/smooth so they still control the kites when twisted, and the maneuvers are planned out so that they unravel the twisted strings during the performance.

Freddie must be smiling in heaven..just awesome...wish I could have seen the people controlling them too

Does anyone understand what is giving these kite's such a range of quick motion? I'm a man of science but this is clearly magic right here.

One of the coolest things I've ever seen, cause I can't figure out how they did it :)

I want to thank all of you for your positive comments on this video. I was in total amazement watching iQuad perform. They are awesome! I am so happy to bring this enjoyment to soooo many people. I felt like a child on Christmas morning when I heard about all the views and likes today from my son. Thank you! I only wish I video taped the talented iQuad team themselves in their synchronized movements to pull off such an amazing show. Excited about next year's show-SOKF-Brookings, Oregon

The people on the ground could move around each other. Also there would be times when they are tangled, but their routine makes it so they also undo the tangles.

I remember people on pismo Beach had 2 to 4 of them (regular and box) on the same strings with very little wind and could be on the ground like these were and could fly. They could also do very low (1" off the sand) straff runs. Would like to find some of them kites

Could be, but the problem is that most kite performance is wind-reliant... The number of pilots worldwide who can do this sort of performance in extreme light or high wind conditions is pretty small.

I filmed this from my Kodak camera. Did not expect the sound to even pick up. My first youtube posting...just wanted everyone to see such awesomeness like I did. Profit on my part...not! This is for pure enjoyment. ENJOY!!!!

Do a KZbin search for "2012 Rev Team Boot Camp", it's in our channel... Four iQuad instructors trained 17 pilots how to perform a choreographed kite routine for the first time, over the course of one weekend, some clips and audio of how it worked for them. If you want to hear a more active style of the commands we use, a quicker improv 4-member configuration, you can search for "iquad thunderstruck". ;)
