Wow, it's so interesting to happen upon this today because I was just earlier listening to a man's salvation testimony and he had a near death experience of meeting the Lord and when he came back, he saw his phone and felt repelled by it/that it was evil, which he said he understood as a revelation of how the enemy uses technology/social media to distract people. (Note: he wasn't saying we can't use phones; it's just that he could perceive the negative ways in which phones were being used). He said he actually threw it across the room. I thankfully never had instagram. I'm a bit older than you, and I left facebook in 2010 after being on it since soon after it was first released. I was on a spiritual journey at the time and felt it was a distraction. I ended up finding the Lord/being saved in 2012. Praise God. God bless you, Molade! I still hope and pray you will one day record yourself reading scripture aloud. :-)

Thank you so much for sharing this perspective!! And oh wow! How has it been for you being off social media for over 10 years? And do you miss it at all?

@@MoTheCrown Not at all! My life totally imploded in coming to Christ (extreme spiritual warfare as almost everyone I knew didn't believe in Jesus), so being on s. media would've made things worse. The Lord has also had me on the via dolorosa (dying to self, Gal 2:20) for the last 12 years, and while He may call certain people to use social media, it's generally not at all conducive to dying to self. God bless you!

I think also not knowing everything that goes on in people's lives leaves more room for catching up when I meet them again.

I really enjoyed this! I agree so much with everything you said. Currently returned to IG after a break and I didn’t even feel like being there! The peace, having lots of my time and calmness being off there brought me, is the reason I may one day delete it permanently as Holy Spirit leads me.

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this video! I deleted my personal Instagram account about a year ago and I also experienced a lot of what you mentioned in this video. I found out who a lot of my real friends are in this season, and I have felt the pain of basically losing all of my acquaintances and people I don't really spend time with personally. I still have an account for the music I make, but I am also looking into outsourcing or getting help from someone to run the page. I also really really like what you said about how deleting Instagram helped you to run your race better 'not looking to the right or to the left' and I've realized that this is very true. In these last days, it's important to be very intentional about running our own race and not living life for other people or doing what other people want you to do, but to honor God and to do what He wants you to do :)

I quit instagram in 2020 and now I use every now and then, I have a private account where I share some photos. I like checking people I know or follow' stories occasionally. I think it made me very self obsessed and I almost idolised myself back then and I also overshared too much. now I really don't really care about getting followers. I also don't allow myself to spend too much time on it.

Thanks so much for sharing this!! It sounds like you have helpful boundaries with it, especially with trying not to be on it for too long! And totally agree about how not knowing allows more room to really catch up.
