I work in tax compliance and reporting. I have my associates and my base salary is $40k- granted I work in the tax department so the first quarter of the year, we work large amounts of overtime which increases my overall annual salary. Someone close to me belittled me for “selling myself short”. Oh I must add that I sold my ‘new’ car this October. It was a 2020 Toyota Corolla hybrid. I am happy, I am (almost) debt free! And my job is a 10 min walk😅 so the car isn’t a necessity at the moment. Anyways, happiness is measured differently for everyone and we shouldn’t put a price tag 🏷 on one’s happiness.

Ya, been a nurse for 38 years. Managers and directors care only about short staffing and make their so called budget so they get their personal bonus from the hospital. I can’t believe how many PCP’s are also quitting due to the hospital making them see so many patients with in the hour. Mistakes are made and patients are made to feel the care is not there at all. I am so done with rushing people like they are not human. It is horrible care these days it is all about business and money and human care is out the door.I have about 6 more years to retire but I am now looking for a non medical job. I am done.

I've been both a CNA and a psych patient for a long time . I've seen plenty of burnout in psychiatry . I wouldn't choose that job long term either. It's always been a wicked profession. Glad you moved on .

RDH needs an hour per PT. If you work at a franchise dental institute like bright now get out of there. Absolute best place to work is surprisingly a prison. My mom's an RDH makes close 40 an hour to clean inmates teeth. 90% of time the inmates don't show for their own appointment, they rather stay in bed. If they ever are a little difficult you can deny them. Correctional officers will escort them back to their room. The doctor above you, everyone else in medical, gets paid regardless of how many patients they see. You're there for legal reasons. Most of the day my mom watches KZbin and talks to coworkers.

Yes, it's a dilemma for a lot of people. Seeing a big number is enticing and all but when you think about what you have to do to get to that number, it isn't worth it sometimes. I always suggest getting a job at 32 hours a week, where it's slower pace and where you can learn as much as possible (typically for lower salary) and getting another job at 8-16 hours a week where you get paid off of productivity. If you go this route, you can make up the difference in pay

The practice model you were in wasn't safe for your own mental health and didn't respect your autonomy as a provider. When there's no work/life balance no amount of money is worth it. Even it was $1 million/ year I'd quit as well.

Working as casual nurse or different career is the way to go. The culture, stress and burnout in nursing is not worth it. Most nurses who don't balance their work and life often end up with Chronic diseases and substance abuse issues. Always remember that we work to live, not live to work. God bless.

What you experienced was codependency. It's not wicked, but it's not Love. Caregiver jobs attract caregivers, who are often taught from childhood to care for others and ignore the Self -- that is CODEPENDENCY. Silence and Control -- those are the Motivations of the codependent, whether a taker or a giver. Fear, Shame, Guilt and Judgment (all classified as Lies) are the Tools of the codependent. IF you are a codependent as well, you will get pulled into the cult, whether private, personal, professional or public. Every human being is either LOVING or CODEPENDENT. You decide whether you want an authentic life or to be surrounded by wounded codependents. Codependents are unhealed from their traumas and pain. They are still suffering. Codependents must grow in self-acceptance (self-love) and self-compassion in order to heal the negative thoughts and emotions that mislead them daily. Codependency is the unspoken pandemic. It is a parasitic cult of fear, shame, guilt and judgment. The end result is depression, anxiety and suicide / homicide because sufferers do not know what is wrong with them. I would try to aim for the second 1 day a week to be a percentage job based on productivity so that way you're not capped on what you make. If you get paid per patient, then you can ramp up your pay. They usually make you pay for your own mal practice
