I was a professional poker player for the better part of 15 years. From 2006 - 2021. Mostly online tournaments back when you could win money playing with your eyes closed. I reached a point where I realized I was no longer better than a small win rate player and my desire to continue to keep up with the evolution of the game had faded. I still play a lot of poker, but it's not my sole source of income, and I am much happier now because of it. For the life of me, I can't comprehend why anyone in 2025 would quit their $100k+ / year job to pursue poker professionally, especially in live tournaments where you factor in a < 15% cash rate + travel expenses. Good luck to you, you're going to need it.

Here is the thing, the potential of a big cash from a poker tournament makes it all worth it. All you need is a big score and build up from there. It's called taking a shot! If it doesn’t work out in 1-2 years, guess what? The six-figure job will always be there waiting. nobody has unlimited bankroll But at least you took a shot for glory. You can rest easy knowing that if it didn't work out then at least you took the damn shot.

Maybe for most people, but half measures = half rewards too. Or as they say in poker, scared money dont make money! If you've got a family to provide for and real responsibilities you're 100% right, but for a young person with lots of opportunities how can you blame them for taking the shot. You can always go back and get a job if you fail!

Fantastic vlog as always - but please don't fall into the Frankie C trap of "This is my last chance between success/joy and complete devastation." Poker is devastating by nature, almost always - especially tournament poker. You can make a living at it, but it's very difficult. The whole "last chance at redemption" trope is really just not that interesting or genuine. Most tournament players lose, most of the time.

@feltupoker
@feltupoker 28 күн бұрын
@ I think she was talking about against an early position open. SB 3-bets tend to be wider against late position raises because their opening ranges are wider. So it’s kind of a leveling game. She knows that I know her opening range in early position should be fairly strong, which is why a SB 3-bet-especially with another player calling from middle position-SHOULD BE pretty linear because I’m willing to play the hand out of position. All that to say… that 3-bet was just a wee bit too punty, even for my standards. 🤣

It's probably not that hard when you factor in bubble play and ICM here, I've done it in similar spot but its a shove if it were earlier and bubble wasn't even looming, but good on her to ride it into cash :)

@11:53 Some technical analysis on your 99 hand: 99 with a diamond is one of the worst bluffcatchers possible as your hand blocks many of your opponents possible river bluffs (9tss, 9tdd, J9dd, Q9dd etc) So you need to be very very sure your opponent is bluffing and has not rivered the A with Axdd. I would let this one go in a vacuum unless you know villain is seriously overbluffing. A bluffcatcher hand like 45ss for example is a weaker overall hand but much better to call here as it unblocks diamonds and missed straights and it also blocks your opponent having the nut straight, you may even be able to bluffraise with 5x hands on the river to make Villain fold Axdd for a one pair rivered value hand.

Grats on the big cash, I'd be interested to see the context though of the downs. The hands you showed you certainly played just fine but it would be cool to see the "I chipped down to" hands as well to see what was going on in those. I probably would have gotten my money in the spots you did as well but it seems like a really tough proposition to win so many flips to get to cash. Was it a fast structure that required a lot of high variance spots or was it just a lot of unfortunate hands in between the flips that chipped you down? I know you made some very good folds as well and I'm curious if there were just a lot of those types of spots.

Not even 1 minute into the video and I have to pause. If you want to be a professional poker player and you're only playing tournaments. You are literally doing everything on hard mode. Learn to become a cash crusher first. Then focus on tournaments. Your more steady income from cash games can pay your bills and hopefully fund tournaments. Then hopefully one day you win a big tournament for hundreds of thousands of dollars, Or even millions and then you're set.

When you had pocket eights you should've bet -- put the pressure on. The chances anyone else had a pocket pair was less than 30%,... Also going All-In with pocket 3s wasnt the smartest decision, just sayin 😂

why not a continuation bet on the turn in the hand with pocket 99's against the flush draw that had an ACE?

9:27 - 9:39 👍👍👍👍 I hope you can get that '6 figure' job back in finances. Tournament poker is very tough to live from. Small stakes live cashgames like 1/3 would give you at least a decent chance to make some easier $ if you table select properly.

Love how she's not replying to a single negative comment. She's so transparent.

@@Mark-t9l7r She knows she is gonna be broke soon if she continues playing tournaments for a living. She knows she shouldn't have given up her job for some unrealistic dream. But she is too proud to admit that because of her ego so i do that for her.

Better play this time. Some good disciplined folds and good check backs on the flop rather than just c-betting aimlessly. Well done ❤

Think putting him on a king there is the wrong read. Likely bets smaller to ensure you call with a king cause he feels confident in having the best hand. He likely had Ax or a pocket pair as well
