I think you hit it when you said you are making a little less than when you were working, but you and your family are happy with things now. Plus, you are correct. You are building something. I'd say your first full year as a reseller has definitely been a success then. 😊 I wish you much more in the year to come.

I sell full-time, and I feel like I spend my whole life doing it. I think about if I should just quit and get rid of all inventory and put the money in a mutual fund because mutual fund stats are like: Time: 0. Effort: 0. Storage space: 0. As opposed to the selling full-time stats: Time: Like all of it. Effort: A lot. Storage space: Half my house.

Congrats on a great year. I don’t care what others say, I think that is an accomplishment. You were able to walk away from a 6 figure job to do something you love and are passionate about. We should all be so lucky to do what we love. Anyone who says differently is just jealous they haven’t or can’t do it. Keep it up. I enjoy your videos and I actually do learn stuff from you. Hoping to get with you and Kevin about starting to do some DibDit auctions this year as that is part of my 2025 plan. Happy New Years to and best of luck!

I quit my work due to my husband getting cancer. My job offered me to keep my insurance for 1,500 per month. I couldn't afford to keep it. I went without insurance for 1 1/2 years. I got on the Obama Care, it is 543.00 per month for me. I wish we had a plan that would give everyone free health care. With insurance you still have to get approved for different medical treatment.

If you can live on it and be happy I think it is the best decision. My husband retired 10 years early because they offered a full insurance incentive. We made less but were able to enjoy ourselves. We do not have kids. My husband has a disease that it was good we had that time to do stuff. If we had waited till 65 we would of missed alot

you need to see an occupational therapist - they are like physio therapists but specialize on how you live/work rather than just the body - if its affordable it can be life changing !! cant stress this enough don't do keto at your age - Diabetic Diet or GI - is similar but better on your body - every time you slip in or out of the Keto state its hard on your arteries - risks bleeds and possibly clots - as you get older this is very hard on your heart/lungs etc...

I use plastic bags but instead of messing with a numeric system I just copy the eBay title onto a small label that I put at the top of the bag. The main reasons I switched to a bagging system were: to keep items with multiple pieces together, to prevent damage or change in condition to clothing items after listing, and for easier condensed storage in containers.

You want my opinion about quitting your job even tho you already did a video about my comment? LOL You have kids and you quit a six figure job to be a reseller. No bueno Mr ADHDave. You possibly should've waited till your kids got a little older and just kept doing reselling spare time. It's not too late, I think. But you won't go back to work until you just have to out of necessity. I do reselling as a hobby but once I found out the money from SSI and MEDICare is supposedly defunct in 2034, I'm starting to sell off my "estate" and my guitars are going to be sold mostly online. I have a lot of money invested in them. They are about 85% collector's guitars. Tell your brother I have two special basses he might be interested in. Happy New Year Dave and family!!!

The cost of health care/insurance in the US is astonishing and baffling to most of us in the rest of the world. I can't even imagine. People literally dying because they can't afford to go to a doctor.
@onemanstrash8233
@onemanstrash8233 Ай бұрын
Yep…if you own your home you better have health insurance because they will get their money one way or another! I am not complaining as Health care is a business, not a charity. But…if you live where there is free health care you will just die BEFORE you see a specialist. I know this first hand friends. My friends mom had the same cancer my father had. My father had surgery and died a horrible death from a Glioblastoma brain tumor. Her mother died within 3 months without the horrible surgery and suffering time. Take your pick I guess.
@pnw-coast
@pnw-coast Ай бұрын
@@onemanstrash8233 Look at it this way. If a country provides free health care, then it's cheaper to have people die without treatment than to pay for expensive, long-term treatments that may still result in death a few years down the road. Neither system is ideal.
@pnw-coast
@pnw-coast Ай бұрын
It sounds like your income is essentially the same, after factoring in the YT income. So the thing to consider is if your expenses have increased from not having employer-sponsored health insurance, for not just you but also for your family if they were on your plan. And then to consider the lost benefits, like 401k matching, if your employer offered that. I would hope you're contributing to a retirement account now that you're on your own. Honestly, I would rather have a 6-figure job with WFH or hybrid schedule, than to resell for income. But everybody needs to do what works for their own situation and then own the consequences of those decisions for themselves.

@edenshechter7097 2 күн бұрын
So seems about same income before taxes? Not mentionwd how high into 6 figures. Anyway, as W2 employee he had to pay taxes and had almost zero write off potential. His reselling brought him 6 figure gross, but perhaps potentially more net? It's very impressive for the 1st year as he has years to scale his business. I see it as a good starting point.

The monetary difference between what you made then (at the height of your adult-work-for-someone-else-life) and what you make now (your first year on your own) is the cost of buying your life back. Seems like a bargain when you think of it like that, doesn’t it? The inventory system will REALLY help you with your jeans…and everything else too!! 😅

All the added cost like insurance that one has to pay for, the benefits you'd get with a day job... IMO one partner "needs a day job to cover that (as lees hours as possible) and that way the other can do the reselling with out extraction of the benefits. Is Tina working or even can she so those insurances are covered? I'm wondering.

I don't know about that... his metrics show most of his videos only get 10k-12k views. Some do hit 30k, but I would bet on average for a year, he's averaging no more than 15k views per video over a year. He releases 2-3 videos per week on this channel. Let's call that 2.5 videos x 52 weeks. That is 130 videos per year. How much you make per 1000 views can vary widely (do they watch all the way through, what demo is watching, category the video is in, etc). At the very top end, he would make $12 per 1000 views. More than likely he makes $5-$6 per 10000. So 130 videos with 15k average viewers at $6 per 1000 is $11,700 per year from this channel. His picking channel is about the same, but is closer to 1 video per week, maybe 1.5.; maybe another $7k per year. Then he has a cooking channel, which actually does better numbers than reselling. He does about 2 videos per week and while many videos only hit the same 19-12k, he more frequently has videos that hit 30-50k. I would say his average viewership is 20k per video. So probably $12,500-$15,000 on that channel. This puts KZbin revenue around $37k maybe, and that is gross. So his gross is probably around $185k. But taxes, fees, and shipping probably ate close to $50k of that. I would say cost of goods/production probably eats $40k. That would put him about $95k pre-tax, which is less than his 6-figure pay. And he gets no bonuses and has no benefits like medical insurance, which could easily be $1000 month for a family. I'm not convinced that quitiing increased his overall income (take home pay). Even with KZbin, if he gave himeself the same benefits (insurance, 401k match, etc) his take home would be substantially under his take home at the 6-figure job. But hey, money can't buy happiness, and happiness can't buy your kids college tuition either, so he has to make an adult decision...

@pnw-coast
@pnw-coast Ай бұрын
He had KZbin money before quitting the day job, so the real question is how much YT income increased since quitting. If it hasn't increased, then he isn't netting more. I think he mentioned in his earlier videos that quitting the day job would give him more time for his other channels, so the question is whether that ended up happening.
