Small note of pedantry: Those should be square brackets (if I'm understanding their intent correctly at least - they're to indicate it's not an exact quote, right? Square brackets are used for that)

@@frostjune6072 Well, it's the only way I've ever seen it done, other than literally writing out "paraphrasing" to make it clear. And having looked it up using parentheses instead is apparently a "common mistake" people make. Maybe it depends on location? But the internet tends to give you things from many different locations, so I'm not sure... In any case however, parentheses are not sufficient on their own, because they would indicate that the speaker started an aside partway through their own sentence (which is rare in writing but it's not too rare for people to do it in speech if they realise partway through their sentence that they should add extra clarification to what they're currently saying).

this was super cool to watch. first of all, it was really satisfying to see that you’ve actually progressed in parkour. i know people from my social circle that describe themselves as someone who uses body inefficiently. and tbh i can understand where they’re coming from in certain situations lol. the thing is that i haven’t seen any of them trying to put an effort to improve, so it’s quite easy to take the point of “i’m literally incapable of succeeding in this” as complete truth. seeing your very first moves and the footage of where you landed eventually is actually refreshing, the progress is very easy to see. good job! and also this reminds me of the fact that human brain is a hell of a capable machine that we come with lol. and secondly, the spectacle of the struggles of an AI agent moving its body parts in super abstract, absurd and physics-defying positions is like a piece of art by itself, i could watch it for hours loool. thanks, the video was a genuine pleasure to watch 🙏🏼

Haha, I also spent the last 3 months writing an AI, in my case for uni. This journey is very relatable When something is built on maths, it learns in a restricted way, human consciousness allows for context to be taken from previous lessons, but machines learn off a score. This won't always be the case, but it is right now. Also, remember that chatGPT is very much like spell check, it's a predictive model that basic guesses what the next word in the sentence will be.

@@siraaron4462 Except humans spent ~a year going from not being able to roll, to not being able to crawl, to not being able to even walk initially. Humans take a *lot* for granted in the first year they're learning even just basic movement.

Great video! I really expected it to veer into Reward Modelling, like, several times, since that's probably what you'd need to do to get a parkour AI to work. I made a video about reward modelling here PYylPRX6z4Q, which even uses a simulated body doing a backflip as an example

Also notable that RLHF, the technique used to train ChatGPT, is closely related to (descended from?) Reward Modelling

Haha yeah I was thinking about taking it there or lfd but figuring it out seemed like it would take another month at least. Gonna save it for another video (wanna collab 👀)

I have so much respect for you and your friends in all these videos! I’ve been thinking of trying parkour, and this definitely makes the threshold to try a bit less daunting

I'm dying to know how the parkour expert reacted when you told him why you were learning parkour (or, well, *if* you told him)

omg it's so fun to see ppl trying to learn unity ml from zero, back in 2018 when I was doing my final college project on my mlai essay I naively chose unity ml agent as the framework cause I guess free game engine was much more easy access for a poor student? but boy it was a struggle. it took me 3 months full time to just write a cross-road training model! this video was sooooo fun to watch! keep up the good work!

I can see the sheer amount of work you put into this. It's absolutely insane and deserves to be praised so so much for its relevance, wittiness, and quality. Bravo.

I've been in a computation in linguistics course in university this past term, so my exposure to AI has been nearly entirely in the realm of language. This is a really cool additional piece to that understanding I'm slowly building, and while I can certainly say that I understood what's underlying training models now than I did before, this type of training I knew next to nothing about
