I have 2 senior citizen friends because of this game. Met the first one (late 60s) on a PVE server where the only pvp was at military bases. I built a huge community base and he was our food guy, every morning like clockwork he'd show up with loads of fish, chickens and other assorted raw meats for everyone that day. He never joined us for pvp, just liked hunting and fishing lol he's always getting stoned and coughing in the mic, still love him though 😂

I ran into a 12 yr old once while fishing. I asked him if he wanted to cook a fish while I tried to catch an other one, he didn't cut it and just threw it in the fire so it burned... But it's okay, we all had to learn the game, right? After he asked me if I could stay with him until he finds his friend. He didn't seem to be too idiotic outside of his lack of knowledge about the game, so I went with him... After about 30 minutes of relatively normal gameplay he got sick because he ate some burned food or something and right after he emptied the content of his stomach on my shoes, he killed me... Now, as soon as I hear a kid, I just shoot, or I take my time for a good session of torture.

I once met a british actor who was almost 50 and he knew Chernarus like the back of his hand. He was leading a group of 8 when I joined him, everyone died but him and I and we became good friends. I will never forget how I could spawn in and tell him, "Uhh, downhill from me is a tree line and the rest is grass." and he'd be like, "Ah you must be at x, go towards x direction and you'll meet up with me in x." and he was right everytime, phenomenal.

Back during the Call Of Duty 1 Base Assault days we ran into a guy named "SeniorCitizen69" After playing on our Base Assualt server for many weeks he got onto our teamspeak and we got to know him. Very cool guy. He was 69 years old. This was back in 2004 ish and I sometimes wonder what ever happened to him.

Lots of respect to the 68 year old, I have met a 75 year old guy when I was trying to give WoW another try when Legion came out after having stopped playing WoW at the Cataclysm expansion and this 75 year old had been an active WoW player the entire time although he couldn't play at the same level as a hardcore players but did everything at a causal level which is still very impressive in my opinion. But what is most impressive is that he was Swedish like me because it is apparently very common for British, American and other foreign grandparents to play WoW than Swedish or Nordic ones.

I'm 52 and play DayZ. Only 3 online games I've actively played over the years. SWG and SWTOR, because I'm a Star Wars nerd. DayZ, because I was bored one winter and discovered the game. Loved the hunting, fishing, simple farming, and base building aspects along with the risks of encountering other players (either befriending them or killing or being killed by them). DayZ is pretty much the only game I've played in the last 6 or 7 years. All the different modded servers and the DZSA Launcher keep the experiences fresh. I actually get old school SWG vibes from DayZ. Obviously a lot different games, but the sand box world feel of two games are very similar. It's better entertainment than the garbage television/streaming shows produced today.

I'm sixty and have just bought the game on special. I have to wait a few days for my machine to play it on. What's the deal about older folks? I see no issue, guy's either a dude or a dope, simple. Gotta love and admire the dude's Arkansaw accent, or perhaps more accurately, way of talking. The man's seen something of life, no doubt. Interesting he's used to being shot at.
