I followed your AT journey to prepare for mine this year. I am also a nurse taking a very needed reprive from work after 10 yrs in the ER during hurricane harvey, covid and the freeze in TX during the 2nd wave of covid. Would love to hear if you went into a new specialty (which is what I know I will be doing) or if you stopped nursing completely after the AT. Loved that you found running. I initially started running half marathons on pavement and now I do trail runs. Highly recommend.

That’s amazing! First of all, I hope your thru hike is amazing this year! Second, I did not go back to nursing. I’m still on the fence about it. It’s been so nice being away from it all, and I don’t know yet if I’ll go back. Planning on running a couple more halves this year!

@@cobwebroseonthetrail2447 awesome to hear! What are you doing now??

@valsinchak4681 I’m working at a daycare where I’m on a day shift schedule, get to snuggle babies every day, and have a team of admins who really care about me! It’s been a good change. Not a lucrative one, but a good one mentally.

Yes! I hadn’t really trained with hills, so I felt like I was almost walking all the ups. The soreness post-race was real!

Congrats! The first of many to come, I bet. The River Arts District is a pretty place to run/ride a bike. I live North of Asheville. 😁
