@@supwell thanks appreciated! I did do a video on my training for my marathons years ago when I had about 6 subs so might be worth dusting it off and doing it again more "in the style" of my Chicago one. Spoiler alert it was about 80 miles per week and, like you, I always saw some value in going over 26.2 in the odd training run. One big difference to now is that it never occurred to me do intervals in long runs so if I did MP it was say 10 miles in 60 mins with only a token mile or so warm up and down when I was in that sort of shape. All of my long runs were "time on feet" largely as I tended to do those MP runs on Saturdays then the long runs were already on tired legs the day after but I did think that aligned fairly well with fatigue deep into the race.

Great video, the chill music interlude after the halfway segment is excellent. I ran in corral G. My race day started poorly, as my throat was hurting, and I was obsessing about whether it was illness, or just too much talking on Saturday. I bought a thermometer at 6am when Mariano’s opened. 97.6 and no other symptoms, so the race was a go. Eggo’s and maple syrup for pre-race meal. I ran conservatively to start, which I did not do at my first Chicago. I hit the half marathon at 1:54:06, on pace for a BQ but less than two minutes margin. I focused on doing a negative split. The 60 mile weeks paid off. I felt the best I’ve ever felt at 20 miles, three of my four fastest 5K splits were in the second half, and I negative split by 38 seconds. The clouds were welcome for keeping things cooler, and the crowds were great. Broadway was exceptionally loud and all cheering, no drums etc. I’m not surprised by your time, after all the work you put in. Your dedication inspired me and a lot of others I am sure. Congratulations!
